Fort Hood officials have released the name of a Soldier found dead in his residence Feb. 17, 2011 in Killeen, Texas.
Sergeant First Class Shawn Michael Coolidge, 40, whose home of record is Lake Placid, N.Y., entered active-duty service in June 1991 as an M1 armor crewman. He was assigned to the U.S. Army Operational Test Command, Fort Hood, since December 2010.
Coolidge deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from November 2005 to November 2006 and from March 2008 to March 2009.
Coolidge’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, five Army Commendation Medals, seven Army Achievement Medals, five Army Good Conduct Medals, two National Defense Service Medals, Korean Defense Service Medal, two Armed Forces Expeditionary Medals, Southwest Asia Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, the Iraq Campaign Medal with campaign star, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon with numeral three, Army Service Ribbon, three Army Overseas Service Ribbons, Kuwait Liberation Medal, Drill Sergeant Identification Badge, Combat Action Badge and Driver and Mechanic Badge.

Fort Hood officials have released the name of a Soldier who was found unresponsive Feb. 7, 2011 at a residence in Killeen, Texas.
The cause of death is unknown at this time.
Specialist Dustin Irl Johns, 25, whose home of record is Crane, Texas, joined the military in November 2006 as a cannon crewmember and was assigned to 3rd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Hood since August 2006.
Johns deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from November 2007 to February 2009.

Fort Hood officials have released the name of a Soldier who died Feb. 21, 2011 from injuries sustained from a motorcycle accident in Abilene, Texas.
Specialist Juan Ortega Jr., 23, whose home of record is Abilene, entered active duty service in February 2007 as a combat engineer. He was assigned to Company C, 2nd Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, since February 2011.
Ortega deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from October 2007 to May 2008 and from October 2009 to September 2010.
Ortega’s awards and decorations include two Army Commendation Medals, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with campaign star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, two Overseas Service Ribbons and Driver and Mechanic Badge.

Owens deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from July 2003 to Feb.2004 and from Dec. 2007 to Jan. 2009.

Specialist Martin James Lamar
Department of Defense officials have released the name of a Soldier killed while supporting Operation New Dawn.
Specialist Martin James Lamar, 42, whose home of record is Sacramento, Calif., died January 15, 2011 in Mosul, Iraq, of wounds suffered when an Iraqi soldier from the unit with which he was training shot him with small arms fire.
Lamar joined the military in September 1999 as a cavalry scout. He was assigned to 1st Squadron, 9th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas, since May 2010.
Lamar deployed to Iraq in August 2010 and will be posthumously promoted to Sergeant.
Lamar’s awards and decorations include the Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with campaign star, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon and Overseas Service Ribbon.

Edwin Moore Carpenter, 75 of Salado, died January 24, 2011 at his residence. Carpenter was born in Temple on January 11, 1936 to Willie Edwin Carpenter and Ira (Bell) Moore. Graveside Services will be held 10 a.m. January 27, 2011 at Hillcrest Cemetery, Temple.

FORT HOOD, Texas - Fort Hood officials have released the name of a Soldier who apparently died from a gunshot wound Jan. 4, 2011 in Portland, Ore.
Specialist Ian Anthony Borelli, 26, whose home of record is Yuba City, Calif., joined the military in July 2007 as an infantryman. He was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, since October 2007.
Borelli deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from December 2008 to December 2009.
Borelli’s awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal with campaign star, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon and Combat Infantry Badge.
