Graveside services for Elizabeth Buzzini, 97, of Houston and formerly of Dallas, will be at 1 p.m. Jan. 15, 2011 at Sparkman Hillcrest North cemetery in Dallas.
Buzzini passed away January 10, 2011 in a Houston nursing facility. She was born to Dr. E.L. Spurlock and Ada May Carver Spurlock in Greenville, Texas on October 5, 1913.
Master Sgt. Anthony Thomas Brown
Fort Hood officials released the name of a Soldier who was found unresponsive Dec. 18, 2010 in his residence on Fort Hood. The cause of death is unknown at this time.
Master Sergeant Anthony Thomas Brown, 42, whose home of record is Pensacola, Fla., joined the military in March 1989 as a fire support specialist and was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 2nd Battalion, 20th Field Artillery Regiment, 41st Fires Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood since May 2010.
Brown deployed in support of Operation Desert Storm from August 1990 to October 1991. Operation Enduring Freedom from August 2002 to January 2003 and from February 2009 to May 2009. He also deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from January 2003 to June 2003 and from October 2006 to November 2007.

FORT HOOD, Texas - Hood officials have released the name of a Soldier who was found unresponsive December 14, 2010 in San Antonio. The cause of death is unknown at this time.
Specialist August Germarne Britto, 25, of San Antonio, joined the military in May 2006 as a unit supply specialist and was assigned to Company F, 1st Air and Missile Defense Battalion, 44th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 69th Air Defense Artillery Brigade, Fort Hood since September 2009.
Britto deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from November 2007 to December 2008.
Britto’s awards and decorations include the two Army Achievement Medals, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal with campaign star, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, and Combat Action Badge.

Funeral services for Leah Gail (Cabaniss) Buzzard, 71, of Salado were held at 11a.m.. on Wednesday, December 22 in the Heartfield Funeral Home Chapel with Mark Munson and John Ash officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Knob cemetery in Belton.
Leah G. Buzzard died Monday morning, December 20, 2010 after a long illness.

SPC Travis Brenton Donnell
Fort Hood officials have released the name of a Soldier who died Dec. 2, 2010 in Temple, Texas.
Specialist Travis Brenton Donnell, 32, of Dallas, joined the military in October 1997 as a military policeman. He arrived at Fort Hood in July 2006, and was assigned to 178th Military Police Detachment, 89th Military Police Brigade, since February 2010.
Donnell deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from February 2004 to February 2005 and May 2007 to July 2008. He also deployed in support of operations in Bosnia and Herzegovina from October 2002 to July 2003.
Donnell’s awards and decorations include four Army Commendation Medals, four Army Achievement Medals, three Army Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Kosovo Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Star, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, four Overseas Service Ribbons, NATO Medal and two Driver and Mechanic Badges.

Fort Hood officials have released the name of a Soldier who died Nov. 26, 2010 in Killeen, Texas, from injuries suffered from an apparent gunshot wound.
Private First Class Bryant Michael Evans, 22, of Dayton, Ohio, joined the military in January 2010 as a multiple launch rocket system crewmember. He was assigned to Battery A, 1st Battalion, 21st Field Artillery Regiment, 41st Fires Brigade, since October 2010.
Private First Class David Dustin Finch
The Department of Defense announced today the death of a Soldier who was supporting Operation New Dawn.
Private First Class David Dustin Finch, 24, of Bath Springs, Tenn., died Dec. 8, 2010 in An Numaniyah, Wasit Province, Iraq, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit using small-arms fire.
Finch joined the military in September 2009 as a cavalry scout. He was assigned to 2nd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Hood, in February 2010 and deployed in support of Operation New Dawn in August 2010.
Finch’s awards and decorations include National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon and Overseas Service Ribbon.

Fort Hood officials have released the name of a Soldier who died Nov. 30, 2010 at Scott and White Hospital in Temple, Texas, from a pre-existing illness.
Sergeant Marc H. Laster, 41, of Constantinople, Mich., joined the military in April 1980 as a crane operator, and most recently served as a chemical operations specialist. He was assigned to 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Hood, since February 2009.
Laster deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from January 2004 to May 2004 and October 2006 to December 2007.
Laster’s awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon and Army Service Ribbon.

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a Soldier who was supporting Operation New Dawn.
Private First Class David R. Jones Jr., 21, of Saint Johnsville, N.Y., died Oct. 24, 2010 in Baghdad, Iraq, of injuries sustained in a non-combat incident.
Jones joined the military in October 2009 as a cannon crew member and was assigned to Howitzer Battery, 2nd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Hood, since March 2010.
Jones deployed in support of Operation New Dawn in August 2010.
Jones’ awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal,Iraqi Campaign Medal with combat service star, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and Army Service Ribbon.

Col. Thomas R. Pappas, USAF (Ret)
Services for Col. Thomas R. Pappas, USAF (Ret), 90, of Salado will be private. He will be laid to rest with full military honors. Skip Blanchett will officiate.
Col. Pappas died October 29, 2010 at a local hospital.

A graveside service was held on Oct. 27, 2010 at the Independent Order of Odd Fellows cemetery in Georgetown for Pauline (Polly) Edwards, 58. Edwards passed away October 23, 2010 at her home in Salado.
She was born to Aurbry and Margaret (Moore) Neves, in Belton, on Nov. 19, 1951. She married
Bobby Gene Edwards, in Temple Sept. 4, 1982.

Graveside services were held Oct. 22 at Salado Cemetery. Visitation was held Oct. 21 at Mountain Valley Funeral Home in Burleson.
