JEAN ANN ZACH
Jean Ann Zach was born in Chicago, IL, Aug. 8, 1918, to Bedrich and Anna (Dolistova) Kuchta and passed away at her home in Spring Branch Thursday, March 27, 2003 at the age of 84.
Jean was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survivied by her daughter; Jean and husband Roy of Spring Branch, two sons, Thomas and wife Maria Elvia Zach of Houston and William Zach of West Bloomfield, MI, one sister, Lottie Beranek of Downers Grove, IL, one brother, George Kuchta of Stichney, IL., 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Henry William Zach, daughter-in-law Marion Zach, grandson Joe Jani and two great-grandchildren Cassandra Gray and Bree Parker.
Funeral services for Jean were held Monday March 31, at St. Ferdinand’s Catholic Church with Father Nichodemus Ejimabo officiating. She was laid to rest in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Steve Zach, Robert Zach, Donald Zach, Tim Zach, Will Parker and Joseph Guyer.
EUPEHNIA SLACK
Eupenia Slack passed from this world Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at the age of 94.
Eupenia was born to Eddie M. Walker and Lou Kate Thomason in San Angelo Feb. 28, 1908.
She was preceeded in death by her parents, Eddie M. and Lou Kate Walker, her husband John R. Slack, sons Paul and John Jr., and grandsons Terry Slack, Dickie Slack and Mark Alford.
Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 21, at the First Baptist Church. Bro. Larry Howard officiated the services. She was laid to rest in the Round Mountain Cemetery.
Euphenia is survived by two daughters, Ernestine McCaster of Dripping Springs and Martha Piskorik of Marble Falls; two sons, Eddie Thorton Slack of Austin and Phillip E. (Buddy) Slack of Johnson City, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
WANDA CHRISTINE MODEN
Wanda Christine Moden, 79, of Tow died Feb. 8, 2003, in Austin. S he was born to George Vivin and Elizabeth Christine (Benthall) Foreman Jan. 14, 1924, in Guymon, Oklahoma.
Mrs. Moden held various jobs during her lifetime. During WWII, she worked on airplanes and later became a telephone operator. She owned and operated This and That Restaurant, which later became a Needle Arts Shop and finally evolved into a priceless treasure, antique and junk shop. She was a “jack of all trades.”
Mrs. Moden was a past state president for the District #28 State of Texas VFW Auxiliary, a member of Elgin VFW Post #6115, Blanco Eastern Star Lodge #934, Kingsland American Legion Auxiliary Post #437, and former member of the Rebecca Lodge of I.O.O.F. in Houston and Guyman.
She is survived by her daughter, Jackie Schultheis of Borden, Indiana, step-children Merle Moden and Theodore Moden, grandchildren Andrea Overall of Del Valle, and Eric Wach of Grays Lake, Illinois, five great-grandchildren, numerous step-grandchildren and step- great-grandchildren, and sisters Genevive Lening of Wetumka, Oklahoma, Opal C. Allen of Tow, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Jack Andrew Jackson and Carl Theodore Moden, and granddaughter Tina Layden.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m.Thursday, Feb. 20, at the Putnam Funeral Home Chapel in Kingsland.

GOLDIE MAXINE LATHAM
Goldie Maxine Latham, 86, of Johnson City, died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003. She was born March 24, 1916, in Johnson City. Her parents were Willie Cassell Casparis and Kizzie Lee Sewell.
She is survived by her son, Wayne and wife Holly Latham of Lockhart, daughter Sherry Stueler of Johnson City, and grandchildren Jayr Krcmar, Kevin and wife Carol Stueler, and Keith and wife Charlene Stueler.
Services were held Saturday, Feb. 8, at Crofts Funeral Home with the Rev. Ernest Topper officiating. Burial followed in the Masonic Cemetery in Johnson City.
Pallbearers were George Danz, Perry Holt, Jayr Krcmar, Hudson Long, Farron Sultemeier, and Kermit Sultemeier.
TRUMAN J. ODIORNE
Truman J. Odiorne, 58, of Santa Fe, New Mexico, died Feb. 5, 2003. He was born Aug. 9, 1944, in Blanco, to Truman N. Odiorne and Harriet Alexandria Brown.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Odiorne of Santa Fe; brother Jack Odiorne of Menard, and sister Jean O. Sultemeier and husband George of Menard; also nieces and nephews Keith Sultemeier and wife Lori of Fort Worth, Kenneth Sultemeier and wife Kathy of Wichita Falls, Chris Sultemeier and wife Paige, Denee Odiorne of Calgary, AL Canada; and numerous great-nephews and nieces.
Services were held Feb. 10 at the First United Methodist Church in Johnson City with the Rev. Sherry Strain officiating. Burial followed in the Miller Creek Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jack Odiorne, Jimmy Odiorne, Keith Sultemeier, Kenneth Sultemeier, Chris Sultemeier and James Sultemeier.
CINDY REED
Cindy Reed passed away during the early hours of Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003, after a five-year battle with cancer. She was at home in Dripping Springs in the care of her husband of 37 years, Robert A. (Bob) Reed Jr.
She loved her church, her family and friends. She never lost faith and was incredibly strong through the many challenges she endured. And even in her final hours, Cindy prayed for her husband and others.
Cindy was born Feb. 17, 1943, in New Braunfels. She grew up on a ranch near Kendalia with her mother and father, Gertrude and Beno Sattler, and her grandmother, Tille Stahl. They were a very close family. Cindy graduated valedictorian of Blanco High School in 1961 and continued her education at Durham Business College.
After graduation, she was employed by the Texas Highway Department, where she met the love of her life, Bob Reed. Cindy married Bob Oct. 23, 1965, and became a full-time housewife. Cindy was very active in her church and community, and always found time for others. Cindy was preceded in death by her mother and father. She is survived by her husband, her extended family, dear friends Tom and Wilma Boyd, many cousins, and her Emmaus brothers and sisters.
The family would like to thank Dr. Brenda Towell for her kindness, loving care and prayerful support.
Visitation was held at noon and services were at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blanco. Burial was at the Weidner family Cemetery, Spring Branch. Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church Building Fund, Blanco.
CHARLIE WEGNER
Charlie Wegner, age 78, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, in San Antonio. He was born on Oct. 24, 1924, in Mt. Sharp to Chas O. Wegner and Louis (Dyer) Wegner. Survivors are wife Dorothy D. Wegner of San Antonio, son Mickey Loehr and wife Suzie of Boerne, daughters Dorothy Gayle Wegner and husband Michael Jimenez of Boerne, and Kittie Lynn Wegner of Boerne, eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Charlie was also preceded in death by one son, Charles Wegner.
Services were Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003 at 2 p.m. at Crofts Funeral Home in Blanco. Burial followed in the Blanco Cemetery.
