EVERETT
Harvey Lee Everett was born in Rising Star Texas on May, 5, 1902, and he passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2002 at the age of 100 years.
Services for Harvey were held on Monday, August 8 at the Round Mountain Cemetery.
He is survived by one daughter Dorothy Buchanan of Johnson City, a son, Wayne Everett of Uvalde Texas. A grandson Larry Everett and a granddaughter Crusty Everett.
Harvey was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Everett..
Rev. Greg Steele was Officiating Clergy.
In the years that Harvey lived he meet many people, many that he considered friends, by those he will be missed dearly.
DUARTE
Susana Elvira Duarte passed away Monday, July 29, 2002, in Marble Falls Texas at the age of 95 years. She was born December 30, 1906, in Los Angeles, California.
Visitation will Wednesday, July 31, until 8 p.m. at Crofts Funeral Home.
Services will be held at St. Lukes Episcopal Church Thursday beginning at 10 a.m.
Susana is survived by one son, Many Duarte of Llano; two brothers, Stev Sepulvada of Palm Desert, California and Tom Sepulveda of Whitter, California; and two grandchildren Many Duarte and Susana Duarte.
Officiating the services will be Rev. Jim McGill.
She will be laid to rest in the Miller Creek Cemetery in Johnson City.
Villerial
Jose Carmello Villerial was born Sept. 3, 1963, in Austin and passed away at age 38 July 28, 2002, in Johnson City.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 29, with a graveside service held at the Masonic Cemetery in Johnson City. The service was officiated by Rev. Greg Steel.
Survivors include mother Julia Castillo; brothers Maximilian Castillo, Danny Luna and Danny Castillo; sisters Gloria Linda Villerial, Francis Villerial and Maxine Castillo.
Jose was a great person and will be missed by all who knew him.
Weber
Milton Marcus Weber went to be with his Heavenly Father July 16, 2002, at the age at 48.
He was born March 23, 1954, to Juanette and Allan Weber in Baytown. He grew up in New Braunfels.
He leaves his wife, soulmate and best friend Cindy Weber of Kendalia; one daughter Kimberli Weber of Bandera; five sons -- Kai Weber and wife Pam of Fort Campbell, Kentucky; Jimmy Weber of Kendalia; Dustin Weber of Canyon Lake; Kord Weber of Kendalia; and Cody Weber of Kendalia; two grandsons Jordan Troy Weber and Dalton Marcus Weber of Kendalia; a young man who was like a son, Willie Weeks and wife Katie of Canyon Lake; his grandmother, Emma Bell Weber Arrant of New Braunfels; mother, Juanett Weber Cox and husband Linzy of Austin; a sister, Alana Leverett and husband Jerry and their children; father-in-law and step mother-in-law, Clifford and Velma Baron of Canyon Lake; mother-in-law Linda Smith of Bandera; numerous sister- and brother-in-laws, nieces and nephews; close friends Mike and Sally Masse; special uncle Milton Knibbe and wife Emily; and numerous other close aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Milton was preceded in death by his father, Allan Weber.
Services were held Friday, July 19, 2002, at Crofts Funeral Home. Burial was at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
CRIDER
Vernon Crider was born to William Robert “Bob” Crider and Ruth Tunnell Crider in Sandy, Texas, March 4, 1919. Vernon was taken from his family who dearly loved him July 17, 2002 at the age of 83.
Crider spent his childhood years in Sandy and Hye where his father, Rob, ran the Sandy and the then Hye store before moving to Johnson City, where his grandfather and father ran the general store. Vernon graduated from Johnson City High School in 1937 and attended Tarleton.
He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was in Patton’s army, and was in the Battle of the Bulge where he spent Christmas in a foxhole. He was honorably discharged in November 1945.
When he returned from WWII, he went into business with his father, Rob Crider; brother, Byron Crider; and friend Nelson Withers at the W.R. Crider General Store in Johnson City. He operated W.R. Crider Company and later the Vernon Crider Appliance Company. He was a rancher and served on the board of directors of Cattleman’s National Bank since its beginning. Vernon was active in VFW until his death.
Vernon is survived by his dear friend, Pauline Hancock; daughters Rebecca Crider and Ann Crider Debo and husband Sam Debo; one son William Robert Crider; sister Irma Nell Crider Simpson and husband Luke Simpson; sister-in-law Billie Crider of Johnson City. Grandchildren Mitch and Matte Taylor of Waitsfield, Vermont (children Austin, and Carson); Nancy Taylor and Bill Kelly of Alamogordo, New Mexico (children Caroline and Garrett); David and Maurina Debo of Spicewood, Texas (children Zack, Matt and Joshua); Jenny Taylor and Danny Leschak, of Tucan, Arizona (children Ashley and Nicole); Tina Debo McCalin and Gordin McCain of Crockett, Texas (children Jackie and Justin); Amy Debo Lindsay, Sante Fe, Texas (children Samantha and Jake). Nieces and nephews: Randy Sibley, Cathy Sibley Heffington, Clay Simpson, Kay Crider Egerton and Gail Crider Booher.
Vernon was proceeded in death by his father William Robert “Rob” Crider, mother Ruth Tunnell Crider and brother Byron Crider of Johnson City.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 20, at Crofts Funeral Home. Interment with military honors followed at the Johnson City Cemetery.
Those desiring to make memorial contributions may do so in Vernon’s memory to the Johnson City library, or the charity of choice.
Vernon was a loving father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
PREISS
Linden John Preiss Sr. was born May 17, 1920, in Blanco County, Texas. He passed from this earth Wednesday, July 10, 2002.
Preiss is preceded in death by wife Lucia Mary Preiss and daughter Dorothy Acker.
He is survived by son Elroy Preiss of Spring Branch, daughter-in-law Diana Preiss, son Linden Preiss Jr. of Blanco, daughter-in-law Gloria Preiss, 10 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Preiss was loved by many and will be missed by all.
RENFRO
Norma Emma Renfro, born November 12, 1922 in Fredericksburg, Texas, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2002, at the age of 79.
She is survived by three sisters, Mildred Boos of Austin, Gertrude Hermann of New Braunfels and Josephine Lux of Kendalia; three brothers, Harry Boos of Seguin, Raymond Boos of Fredericksburg and Rubin Boos of Kerrville.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd Renfro and daughter Margie Feller.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday at Crofts Funeral Home with Pastor Anamae Storbeck officiating. Burial was held at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Uvalde.
Pallbearers were Douglas Boos, David Boos, Clifton Kneese, Roger Kneese, Larry Boos and Richard Kneese.
Norma was a wonderful person who had many friends. She will be dearly missed.
