RUE N. SNYDER
Rue N. Snyder of 438 Rangeland Road was born Dec. 27, 1915, and passed away at Live Oak Medical Center at 4:36 p.m., Jan. 26, 2004.
He is survived by one son, Dennis Snyder of San Antonio; one daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Judy) Mabbott of Blanco; eight grandchildren and five great- grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at Live Oak Medical Center at 3 pm Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004.
Funeral and burial will be held in Butler, Penn., Jan. 31, at the Thompson Funeral Home.
HELEN C. DEIKE
Helen C. Deike born Aug. 1, 1914, in Fredericksburg, went to be with the Lord Jan. 3, 2004, at the age of 89.
She had been a resident of San Antonio since 1930, and she was a Lutheran by faith. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin E. Deike, parents and grandparents, sisters Lonnie Zimmerman, Leola Sprague and brother Gilbert Hitzfeld.
Mrs. Dieke is survived by three daughters, Shirley Salazar, Carolyn Boyles and husband Morris, and Lynette Gibson and husband Bob; a son, Steve Deike and wife Karen; a sister, Dorothea Wegner; 12 grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and her best friend of 3 ˝ years, Shirley Charles and a host of many friends.
Services were held for Mrs. Dieke Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004, with her being laid to rest in the Twin Sister Cemetery in Twin Sisters.
HOPE HERNANDEZ
Hope Hernandez was born Aug. 22, 1945, in Hondo and passed away in San Antonio Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2004, at the age of 58.
Hope was a long-time resident of Blanco, where she was well known and loved by not only her family but the many friends she came to know through her many years.
Hope is survived by her husband, Juan Hernandez of Blanco, three sons, Martin Sauceda, Orlando Hernandez and Juan Andres Hernandez, all of Blanco; four daughters, Rita Sanchez of Marble Falls, Sandy Guzman and Samantha Suarez, both of Granite Shoals and Vanessa Hernandez of Blanco. She is also survived by her mother, Francisca Garcia; six brothers, Ignacio Garcia and Manuel Garcia both of Hondo, Pedro Garcia, Domingo Garcia, Louis Garcia and Tomas Garcia, Jr., all of Blanco, as well as two sisters, Stella Mancha of Blanco and Hilaria Escobedo of Brush, Co. Hope was also blessed to have eight grandchildren.
Services were held for Hope Saturday, Jan. 17, 2004 with the Rev. Creciero Cruz as officiating clergy followed by Hope’s soul which went with the Lord while her body was laid to rest in the Blanco Cemetery.
Hope Hernandez will not be forgotten because her memory will live on through all who came to know and love her.
GLENNIE MAE EARLEY
Glennie Mae Earley, 95, passed away Jan. 6, 2004, at a Waco nursing home.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan 9, at Crofts Funeral Home in Johnson City. Burial followed at Masonic Cemetery. Visitation was Thursday at the funeral home.
Glennie was born July 24, 1908, in Magazine, Ark., to Elihu and Dona Bell. She grew up in Greenwood, Ark., and married George Harrison Earley in 1931. They traveled to Texas, Missouri, and the southern states doing road construction until they moved to Johnson City in 1944. Glennie lived in Johnson City across the street form the school house until she relocated to Waco in 2002 due to failing health.
Glennie was very proud of her being able to serve as room mother for each of her children when they were in school from 1944 to 1966. She felt honored to be a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for the 57 years and was a Past Matron.
Glennie also was retired Avon representative for the area and had sold Avon products for more than 40 years. She only gave that up when she had to be hospitalized for an extended period.
She loved being with all her customers and friends. She also enjoyed reporting for the Johnson City Record Courier for a number of years starting when Stella Glidden was the editor. She had many caring friends in Johnson City that she treasured and fondly spoke of them often. She dearly loved Johnson City. Glennie was preceded in death by her husband, “Red” George Harrison Earley; son, Scottie Earley of Schertz; daughter, Myra Gail Rivera of Pflugerville; step-son George Harrison Earley Jr. of Eugene, Ore.; and step-daughter, Opal McMillan of Albuquerque, N.M.
Glennie is survived by her son, Leo Earley and wife, Fern of Waco; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Earley of Schertz; son-in-law, Robert Rivera of Pflugerville; step-daughter, Mabel Grose and husband, Bud of Sedalia, Mo.; brother, Floyd Bell of Sedalia, Mo.; brother Gloyd Bell of Greenwood, Ark; grandchildren Calvin Earley and wife, Peggy of Houston, Cindy Stoltz and husband Larry of San Antonio, and Ross Earley of Round Rock.
JESSIE MAURINE HUNTER
Jessie Maurine Hunter born March 6, 1912, a long-time resident of Llano and Blanco counties, died Jan. 7, 2004, at age 91 after a brief illness.
Her family was the center of her life, and she had many dear and devoted friends for whom she was special. Although her passing leaves sadness in the lives of many, she remains an inspiration to all.
A memorial service to celebrate Jessie’s life will be held at Walnut United Methodist Church in Round Mountain Saturday Jan. 24, 2004, at 1 p.m.

BENJAMIN HORTON JR.
Benjamin Horton, Jr., 88, of Corinth, formerly of Blanco, died Jan. 2, 2004, at the Denton Regional Medical Center. He was born in Louisiana April 27, 1915, to Benjamin and Effie Wade Horton.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was discharged as a Staff Sergeant. He married Ruth Burke July 22, 1945, in Cape Cod, Mass. He attended the All Faiths Chapel in Blanco. He was a retired regional salesman for Nashua Corp.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 24, at the All Faiths Chapel in Blanco.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Horton, of 58 years of Corinth; two daughters, Virginia Gail Cox of Corinth and Diana Reynolds of Atlanta, GA; son, Benjamin C. Horton of Puyallup, WA; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to All Faiths Chapel Church or the the EMS or the charity of your choice.

ROBERT BENION HALE
Robert Benion Hale of Kendalia passed away at the age of 88. Robert was born in Winters May 13, 1915, and passed away Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at Live Oak Medical Center in Blanco.
Services were held Monday Jan. 5, 2004, at the First Assembly of God.
Robert is survived by his wife Ruth Valentine Hale of Kendalia, daughter Bobbie Behnke and husband Curt of Kendalia, son Shade Hale and wife Polly of Blanco and brother Otis Carlton Hale of Kirby. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, 18 great- grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
