Debbie Calicott

Debbie Calicott, 50, of Alvin, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2000.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, December 6, 2000 at 2:00 p.m., Heights Baptist Church, Alvin.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 5, 2000, 4-9 p.m., Oak Park Funeral Home.
Arrangements by Oak Park Funeral Home, Alvin, Texas.

Josephine Marie Pulido

Josephine Marie Pulido, 41, of Freeport, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2000 at her home.
Josie was a lifetime area resident.
She is survived by three brothers, Tony Pulido and his wife, Bonnie of Rockport, Raymond Pulido of Woodbridge, Virginia and Jimmy Pulido and his wife, Victoria of Cameron, Louisiana; one sister, Delores Weiser and Ernest Moore of Freeport; two nephews; one niece; four grand-nephews and two grand-nieces; and one great-grand-nephew.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Eddie Marquez, Santos Pulido and Henry Pulido; and her parents, Eusebio Nava Pulido and Gregoria Marquez Pulido.
Visitation being held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with Rosary services being held at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 6, 2000, at the Freeport Funeral Home with Wallace Shaw officiating.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 7, 2000 at Angleton Cemetery with Wallace Show officiating.

Maxine Boyd Motley

Maxine Boyd Motley, 82, of Lake Jackson, and formerly of Groveton, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2000, at Village on the Creek Nursing Home.
Mrs. Motley was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Ayleen Boyd Robert.
Survivors include her husband, W. A. Motley of Lake Jackson; daughter, Jolene M. Renfro and husband, James of Lake Jackson; three grandchildren, Rebecca Renfro Grimes and husband Eric, James C. Renfro, III and wife, Shelly, and John Renfro; two great-grandchildren, Triston Grimes and Collin Renfro.

Melinda Kate Olson

Melinda Kate Olson, 75, of Lake Jackson, Texas, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2000 at Plantation Health Care Center.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 6, 2000 at the Lakewood Funeral Chapel with Chaplin Kenneth Lott officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral chapel.
Melinda was an area resident for 56 years.
She is survived by four daughters, Gloria Malone and husband, Don of Lake Jackson, Joyce Irwin of Lake Jackson, Peggy Case and husband, Terry of Brazoria and Earline Cox and husband, James of Center, Texas; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Ronald Zieschang of Lampasas; four sisters, Ella Reeh of San Antonio, Lolla Gann and husband, Gayle of Cameron, Suzie Hall of Lampasas, and Lilliemae Williams and husband, James of Austin; and by a close friend and neighbor Lorene Hoffman of Lake Jackson.
Pallbearers will be Larry Irwin, Jr., Jesse Knopp, Jason Knopp, Micah Malone, Matt Malone and James Flow.
The family wishes to express its gratitude to the members of Hospice and the Plantation Health Care Center Staff.

Robert Ellis Busby

Robert Ellis Busby, 66, of Oyster Creek, Texas, passed away Monday, December 4, 2000 at Brazosport Memorial Hospital.
Robert was a long-time resident of the Oyster Creek area and was a graduate of Brazosport High School.
Robert served in the U.S. Navy.
He was an operator at Dow Chemical Company for 32 years and also was a supervisor and safety director for Brazos M & E.
He was a member of the Freeport Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Barbara Ann Busby of Oyster Creek; four children, Laura Ann Bowles of Lake Jackson, Monica Adele Busby of Lafayette, Louisiana, Rhonda Elaine Panamaroff and her husband, Thomas H. Panamaroff of Kodiak, Alaska, Roberta Elizabeth Busby of Bellevue, Washington; two grandchildren, Ashley Marie Pavlicek and DeAlan Loyd Bowles.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clifton Abner Busby and his mother, Bernie Lee Ayers Busby; two brothers and one sister.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Lakewood Chapel.
Funeral services will be 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of Christ in Freeport with Mr. Charles Rabon officiating.
Interment will follow at 4 p.m. at the Neches Cemetery near Palestine, Texas.
Arrangements by Lakewood Funeral Chapel.

Valerie Whitman

Funeral services for Valerie Whitman, 92, of Clute, formerly of Atlanta, Texas, will be Wednesday, December 6, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. at First Missionary Baptist Church in Freeport, with Rev. Dr. J. V. Williams officiating.
Burial will be in Peaceful Rest Cemetery in Brazoria.
She died Saturday, December 2, 2000 at Cypress Woods Care Center in Angleton.
She was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully in the Allie Dawson Circle, Senior Choir, and Usher Board.
She is survived by her daughter, Janice Saddler and Jerry of Clute; five granddaughters, Willie Jean Johnson of Texarkana, Jerica Saddler of Waco, Lavonne Mitchell of Galveston, Theresia "Gina" Johnson of Houston, LaWanda Mitchell of Domino, Texas; two grandsons, Aaron Mitchell of Houston, Kenneth Mitchell of Decatur, Georgia; one step-grandson, Jason Saddler and Kim of Richwood; a special niece she reared, Normaline Jefferson of Atlanta, Texas; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.
Active pallbearers will be Steven Burse, Eric Ramsey, Leonard Mack, Billy Ray Smith, Damond Peoples, Levvis Thomas, Jackie Peoples, and Cary Tolbert.
Honorary pallbearers will be Cedric Mack, Joe Pinkney, Emanuel Mack, Jason Saddler, Aaron Mitchell, Jerry Saddler, and Robert Shepard.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 5, 2000 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the church and Wednesday, December 6, 2000 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church only.
There will be no viewing afterwards.
Arrangements are by Dixon Funeral Home of Brazoria.

Gloria Owens Bragg

Gloria Owens Bragg of Alvin, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2001 in Webster, Texas.
She is survived by her husband, Garry L. Bragg and two daughters.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 7, at 10:00 a.m. at the South Park Baptist Church of Alvin.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 6, from 12 noon till 9:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Jonathan, Daisy and Erika Sanchez

Services for Jonathan Adrian Sanchez, 6 months, Daisy Janet Sanchez, age 9 and Erika Lizeth Sanchez, age 15, all of Clute, will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, the 8th day of March, 2001 at Palms Funeral Home in Angleton, with Mr. Eduardo Reyes officiating.
Burial will follow after services at Restwood Memorial Park in Lake Jackson.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Palms Funeral Home.
Jonathan Sanchez was born on July 21, 2000 in Lake Jackson.
Older sister, Daisy Sanchez, was born on January 10, 1992 in Galveston and was a third grade student at Ogg Elementary in Clute.
Eldest of the three, Erika Sanchez, was born October 25, 1985 in Brownsville, and was a freshman at Brazoswood High School.
Survivors of all three children include parents, Angel and Ofelia Sanchez; brother, Luis Angel Sanchez, age 13, all of Clute; and grandparents, Ernesto Ramos, Emma Mendez, Jose Sanchez Flores, and Maria Juana Morales, all of which reside in Mexico.
In lieu of usual remembrances donations may be made to the Sanchez family in care of First State Bank of Clute, account number 5031-927.

LaRue Newman

LaRue Newman, 78, of Jones Creek, went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, March 4, 2001 at her home.
LaRue was an area resident since 1950 and a member of the Gulf Prairie Presbyterian Church.
LaRue was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Bert Newman of Jones Creek; four children, Sharon Jones and husband, Charles of Jones Creek, Jeanette Bumpers of Jones Creek, Carol Kaplita of Clute and Sue Toomer and husband, Don of Jones Creek; six grandchildren, Chuck Jones and wife, Kelly, Jerry Wayne Wheat and wife, Jennifer, Donnie Toomer and wife, Karen, Jimmy Wheat and wife, Kim, Kenny Jones and wife, Jennifer, Shana Eger and husband, Doug; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Virginia Mullins of Blanco, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Gwen Doehne of Austin, Eunice McWilliams of San Antonio; numerous loving nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the Lakewood Chapel.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2001 at Gulf Prairie Presbyterian Church with Rev. Bryan Kile officiating.
Interment will follow at Gulf Prairie Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
