Aline Patricia Steffen went to be with the Lord on August 10, 2001.
Born Aline Patricia Shields in Louisville, Kentucky, on April 2, 1932 becoming a Texan in 1957.
Survived by her loving husband, Warren, and their three sons, Phillip, Russell and Curtis Steffen. Also, her two granddaughters, Michelle and Kaylie Steffen.
A memorial celebration of life will be held at Shady Acres Baptist Church in Brazoria.
Betty Elaine Wells Buck
Betty Elaine Wells Buck, 49, of Sweeny, passed away Monday, August 13, 2001 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 17, 2001 at 4:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Sweeny with Rev. Alex Lupo officiating.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 16, 4-8 p.m. at Stroud Funeral Home.
Interment will be at Sweeny Cemetery.
Betty was born September 6, 1951 in Kansas City, Kansas and was a resident of Sweeny for 48 years. She was involved in many organizations over the years. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Chauncey Douglas Wells; and step- father, Don Reddoch.
She is survived by her beloved children, Jennifer Alane Buck and Daniel Jerome Buck; mother, Frances Wells Reddoch of Sweeny; sisters, Karen Powers and husband, Jerry of Kerrville, Donna Bailey and husband, Ray of Sweeny; step-sister, Donnie Noster and husband, Ronnie of Sargent; step-brothers, Bart Reddoch and wife, Kaye of Teague, Jan Reddoch and wife, Patti of Sweeny; five nieces, five nephews; and many other loving relatives and friends.

Edward Francis Carmody
Edward Francis Carmody, 72, of Lake Jackson, Texas, passed away at his residence on August 13, 2001 after an extended illness.
He was born to Anna Shanahan Carmody and John Carmody in Charlestown, Maryland, on April 7, 1929.
He married Bettie Berteau of Gonzales, Louisiana, in 1954. They were the parents of Rev. Michael Carmody of Houston, Dale Carmody of Chicago, Danna Carmody Kolafa of Clute, Tressa Carmody of Waxahachie, David Carmody and Cheryl Carmody, both of Austin. He is survived by his wife, children, son-in-law, Rick Kolafa, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother, Jack Carmody.
Edward graduated from LSU with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and was employed at the Dow Chemical Company Louisiana Division. The Carmodys resided in Baton Rouge, Addis and Plaquemine, Louisiana, until 1974. He served in the U.S. Air Force, in the 1095th SRS/ADG from 1951 to 1954, and was stationed at Bossier Base, Shreveport, Louisiana. He transferred to the Texas-Dow Poly-Tech Center in 1974, and the Carmody family made their home in Lake Jackson. Edward served in many civic and religious organizations both in Louisiana and Texas, and was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. He retired from Dow in 1986, but continued to do contract work for several more years.
There will be a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 15, 2001, and a funeral Mass at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, both at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Monsignor Leo Wleczyk officiating.
The family will receive friends, Wednesday, August 15, 2001 from 8:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the church.
Pallbearers will be Michael Carmody, Dale Carmody, David Carmody, Eddie Carmody, Rick Kolafa and Jamie Berteau.
Honorary pallbearers will be James Boomhower, Trudy Bates, Craig Berteau, Pam Berteau, Cathy Berteau, Charla Smith and Annette Dupre.

Will C. "Buddy" Hammond, Sr.
Will C. "Buddy" Hammond, Sr., 86, of Sweeny, was born September 3, 1914 in Sweeny to Will Calvin Hammond and Lydia McDaniel Chenault Hammond. He passed away Sunday, August 12, 2001. Will was a life-long resident of Sweeny, a member of the Sweeny Church of Christ, was a retired heavy equipment operator and was a member of Local Union 450 Operating Engineers.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Alene Fondren Hammond of Sweeny; by his children, Frankie Eloise Anderson and husband, Wesley Anderson, Sr. of Sweeny, Will C. "Sonny Boy" Hammond, Jr. and wife, Yvonne of Sweeny and Carolyn Sue Kulhanek and husband, Ray Kulhanek, Sr. of Danbury; by his sisters, Lydia Shaw of Sweeny, Agnes Hood of Sweeny, Bessie Witt of Kansas, Sue Ellen Ryan of Sweeny and Mary Virginia "Teadie" Johnson of Angleton; and by his brother, Eugene Hammond of Sweeny. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Allen Anderson, Wesley Gene Anderson, Connie Hendricks, Ray Kulhanek, Jr., David Kulhanek, Tara Thomas, and Wendy Tabone; by his great-grandchildren, Cody Anderson, Travis Anderson, Daniel Anderson, Casey Anderson, Ray Allen Kulhanek, Kristen Kulhanek, Samantha Kulhanek, Megan Mitchell, Morgan Thomas, Sierra Tabone, Sianna Tabone Kendall Kulhanek, Candice Hendricks, Eric Hendricks and Will Hendricks; by his great-great-grandchildren, Cory Anderson and Mason Anderson; and by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2001 at the Church of Christ in Sweeny with Glenn Salyer officiating. Interment will follow at the Sweeny Cemetery.

Ahavie Lee (A. L.) Foley of Humble, Texas, (formerly of Damon) went to be with the Lord on April 23, 2001.
Born December 11, 1927, A. L. is survived by his wife, Maggie Foley of Humble; son, Gary Foley and wife, Deborah of Austin; daughter, Brenda Arnoni and husband, Yoel of Humble; son, Larry Foley and wife, Kim of West Columbia; brother, Lewis Foley and wife, Betty Jo of Waco; sister, Lillie Pearl Howard and husband, Sidney of Donie; brother, James E. Foley and wife, Brenda of Quinlin; as well as four beautiful granddaughters, Courtney, Sandy, Tiffani and MaKayla.
A. L. was employed for over 30 years at Jefferson Lake Sulfur Company. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Damon, where he served in various capacities. A. L. loved to fish, hunt, play dominoes, and spend many valued hours with his family and friends.

Funeral services for Daniel Olton Spaulding, 68, of West Columbia will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 26, 2001 at Baker Funeral Home Chapel in West Columbia with Bro. John Hatch officiating.
He died Monday, April 23, 2001 in West Columbia.
Burial will be in Columbia Cemetery, West Columbia, Texas.

Mr. Spaulding was born May 8, 1932 in Britton, Oklahoma. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was employed with Phillips Petroleum Company for 41 years.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Rex and Amy Spaulding of Angleton; daughters, Rita Orsak of Lake Jackson, Della Jordan Hendricks and husband, David of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Kelsi Orsak, Desiree Hendricks, Taylor Spaulding, Danielle Jordan, Cory Spaulding and Ashby Spaulding; great-grandchildren, Alexia Jordan, Justin and Haley Kintop; brothers, Quinten Spaulding, Lonnie Lee Spaulding, Allan Dean Spaulding, all of Oklahoma; sisters, Wanda Faye Spaulding and Linda Mae Ross, both of Oklahoma.

Ella Creswell Rentrop Ewing
Ella was born in Abbeville, Louisiana, on March 25, 1921. She was an area resident for 45 years and a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. She worked as a sales woman for J.C. Penneys and Selman's department store in Freeport for many years before rheumatoid arthritis forced her to retire.
Ella was known by several names; to her husband, she was Darling; to her children, she was Mom; to many friends and co-workers she was Rennie; to her beloved nieces and nephews, she was Nannie; to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was Crammie; but whatever you called her, you always knew you were loved big-like-the-world.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Minor and Estelle Lange Creswell; first husband, H.A. Rentrop, Jr.; great-granddaughter, Kaylin Rentrop; brothers, Roy and Paul Creswell, Harry and Wilma A. Touchet; sisters, Maggie and Goldie Creswell, Nan Hebert and Loretta Primeaux.
She is survived by her husband, Wade Ewing of West Columbia; son, Kenneth Rentrop and wife, Shirley; daughter, Barbara Lanier and husband, Douglas, all of Lake Jackson; four grandsons, Kevin Lanier and wife, Jacque of Seabrook, Scott Rentrop of Lake Jackson, David Lanier and wife, Cindy of Houston, Steven Lanier and wife, Stacy of Lake Jackson; three great-granddaughters, Kelby and Baylee Lanier of Lake Jackson, Katherine Lanier of Seabrook; two step-children, Kent Ewing and wife, Gloria of Austin, Danny Ewing and wife, Debbie of Rosenberg; five step-grandchildren, Tara and Lana Ewing of Austin, Kevin Wendy and Kyle Ewing of Rosenberg; special care givers, sister-in-law, Pearl Creswell; nephew, Joey Creswell; nieces, Suzanne Gautney and Yvonne Boyington. Gary Wayne Slater
Gary Wayne Slater, 61, of Angleton, Texas, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2001 at the Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas. He was born January 13, 1940 in Bay City, to Charles Slater and Clara Mangum Slater. He was a resident of Angleton, for more than twenty years and was a truck driver for Varina Trucking Company. Formerly of Bay City, he was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Bates Slater of Angleton; daughters, Kellie Maxwell of Bay City and Debbie Henrichsen and husband, John of Bay City; step-daughter, Judy Gregory and husband, David of Angleton; son, Christopher W. Slater of Savannah, Tennessee; and step-son, Thomas Bates and wife, Alice of Angleton. He is also survived by sister, Kay Slater of Bay City; brothers, Podie Slater of Bay City and Clinton Joe Bass of Houston; grandchildren, Tony Maxwell, Seth Henrichsen and Caleb Henrichsen of Bay City, and Krista Bates, Kathleen Bates, Timothy Bates, Michael Gregory and Michelle Gregory of Angleton; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Clara Slater; and by his brothers, Kenneth and Harlan Bass.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 27, 2001 at the First Presbyterian Church of Bay City with Rev. Sam Steele officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City.
His grandsons will be Honorary Pallbearers.
