Korliss Kay Hodges, 55, of Clute, passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2000 at her residence.
Memorial will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. at Stroud Funeral Home Chapel with Carroll Fink, officiating.
Korliss was born October 18, 1944 in Bismarck, North Dakota, and has lived in Clute, for the past 35 years. She was a long time employee of Franklin Insurance Agency in Lake Jackson.
Survivors include her husband, Harold F. Hodges of Clute; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Janet Hodges of Clute; parents, Earl L. and Catherine M. Wilson of Peoria, Arizona; brothers, Charles Wilson and wife, Beverly of Peoria, Arizona, William Wilson of Phoenix, Arizona; sisters, Linda Van Der Meersche and husband, Roy of Dewey, Arizona, Margaret Wilson of Glendale, Arizona, Sheree Cusmano and husband, Tony of Peoria, Arizona, Donna Wilson of Glendale, Arizona; granddaughters, Chelsea, Liberty and Valory Hodges, all of Clute; nieces, Jessica Noriega and Sara McKee of Arizona; nephews, Jeff and Michael Van Der Meersche and Joel Christiansen of Arizona; brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Amelia Hodges of Clute, Roy and Verna Hodges of Clute, S.A. and Rudene Sapp of Lufkin, Gerald and Imogene Hodges of Lufkin, Al and Mary Etta Arnett of League City, Carl and Jackie Hodges of Deer Park, Carold Hodges of Baytown, Herman and Kay Hodges of Hilltop Lakes, Dennis and Pat Hodges of Dickinson; several nieces and nephews in and around Texas and numerous friends in the Brazosport area.

Funeral services for Maggie Lee Black, 86, of Clute, will be held Sunday, February 27, 2000 at Evergreen Baptist Church, 635 Highland Park, Clute with Rev. Carlyle Roberson officiating.
She passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2000 at Village on the Creek Nursing Home.
Burial will be at West Columbia Paradise Cemetery in West Columbia.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 26, 2000 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at E. Viola & Son Funeral Home.
Maggie was born October 20, 1913. She was a member of Evergeen Baptist Church.
Survivors include one sister, Lorene Smith of Clute; one uncle, Matthew Batteau of Tucson, Arizona.
Pallbearers will be Johnny C. Smith, Jr., Billy Ray Smith, Kenny Boniaby, Reginald Perry, Larry Simmons and Aaron Lunford.
Honorary pallbearers will be nephews and deacons of Evergreen Baptist Church.

Emma Glaydene Sanders
Emma Glaydene Sanders, 83, of Clute, Texas, passed away Thursday, February 22, 2001 at Plantation Health Care Center. She was born December 26, 1917 in Plainview, Texas. She was a resident of Clute, Texas, for 62 years. Glaydene worked for the U.S. Post Office in Clute for 31 years.
She is survived by one son, Milton D. Sanders and his wife, Hazel of Fairfield, Texas; two grandchildren, Susan Falcone Potts and husband, Doug Potts of Danbury, Texas, Jason Sanders and wife, Shannon of Lake Jackson, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Amanda Falcone, Charles Falcone, Dillon Sanders and Dustin Sanders.
She was preceded in death by her husband, F.M. Sanders, two daughters, Terry Lynn Sanders, Rita Jean Perry, and one grandson, Bennie Maak Perry.
Visitation will be Friday at the Lakewood Funeral Chapel from 4 p.m. until services at 6 p.m. Friday at the Lakewood Chapel with Rev. Randy Warren officiating, followed by Eastern Star Services.
Interment will be at Willow Hole Cemetery, North Zulch, Texas, 3 p.m. Saturday, February 24, 2001.
Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Falcone, Charles Falcone, Eli Clark, Layton Davenport, Tony James and Orval Culbertson.

Robert Wayne Welch, Sr.
Funeral services for Robert Wayne Welch, Sr., 63, of Cape Caranchua, Texas, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 23, 2001 at Richardson Funeral Home Chapel. Masonic Lodge #36 A. F. & A. M. will conduct their service and VFW Post #4403 will have the folding of the flag and presentation.
He died Tuesday, February 20, 2001.
Mr. Welch was born April 7, 1937 in Houston, Texas. He was a correctional officer for the Texas Department of Corrections. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #36 A. F. & A. M., VFW Post #4403 and the Eastern Star #373. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Hezzie Karr and Mary Watson Welch.
Survivors include his wife, Bobby Cherry Welch of Cape Caranchua; daughters, Regina Lee Solomon of Rosharon, Danette Marie Johnson of West Columbia; sons, Robert Wayne Welch, Jr. of Midway, Aaron Karr Welch of West Columbia, David Earl Welch of Richmond, Stephen Laine Welch of Katy; sister, Carol Gunselman of Houston; 16 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

W. T. (Bill) Edgar, 75, of Brazoria, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2001. Bill was born June 11, 1925 in Alba, Texas, to Tom and Wilma Edgar. He moved to Velasco, when he was a child. Bill has lived in the Brazosport area most of his life. He served in WWII in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. San Juan. He worked as an industrial painter and insulator most of his life. He attended the First United Methodist Church of Brazoria. He was a member of Velasco Masonic Lodge 757, Lake Jackson Masonic Lodge, Clute Masonic Lodge and Brazoria Masonic Lodge. He was a Past Master of Velasco and Brazoria Lodges. He was a member of El Mina Shrine Temple, the Braz Clowns, and the Litt S. Perry Commandary.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Patricia of Brazoria; nine children, Harriette Shoemaker and husband, Cecil of Clute, Shirley Gray and husband, Monroe of Cameron, Louisiana, Darlene Willis and husband, John of Dickinson, Texas, Rodger Edgar of Brazoria, Brenda Howard and husband, Rob of Rowlett, Texas, Lewinna Taylor and husband, Drue of Freeport, Chrystal LeCompte and husband, Larry, Jr. of Freeport, Becky Pinson and husband, Shayne of Brazoria and Thomas R. Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers are the Velasco Masonic Lodge #757 and all of his Masonic brothers.
Masonic graveside rites will be held.

Funeral services for Ann Phillips of Brazoria, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2001 at Baker Funeral Home Chapel in Brazoria with Rev. Debbie Measells officiating.
She died Thursday, April 19, 2001 in Brazoria.
Burial will be in Brazoria Cemetery, Brazoria, Texas.

She was an area resident for 60 years, a member of First Presbyterian Church in Brazoria and was a hairdresser in Brazoria, for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Barto and Mary Martin; husband, Bryce Brand Phillips; son, Bryce Brand Phillips, Jr.; brother, Frank Martin; sisters, Mae Cherry, Velna Oliver and Mamie Cherry.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Buddy Schaefer of Brazoria; sisters, Alice Goss of Texarkana, Netia Ward of DeKalb; grandsons, Brandon Downs and wife, Kenilyn of Brazoria, Jonathan Downs of Brazoria; step-grandsons, Kenchen Schaefer and wife, Lorri of Angleton, Brian Schaefer of Brazoria; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services for Betty Jean Willy, 66, of Angleton, will be held at 4:30 p.m., Friday, April 20, 2001 at Angleton Cemetery with Deacon Andy Shefts officiating. Betty died on Wednesday, April 18, 2001 at Angleton Danbury Medical Center.
Betty was born on November 6, 1934 to Louis and Bessie Juanita VanDorn Lunsford in Angleton. She was a lifelong resident of Angleton, a flower gardening enthusiast and worked as a waitress for many years. Preceding her in death are her parents and one brother, Douglas Lunsford.
Surviving are daughter, JoLene Garcia of Angleton; sisters, Lillian Lowe of Angleton, Marion Howard of Mittie, Louisiana, Joan Wisnoski of Angleton; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three nieces and one nephew.

Clifford M. "Captn" Bryant, 67, of Sugar Valley, Texas, passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2001 in Wharton, Texas. He was born February 4, 1934 in El Campo, Texas to John Warren Bryant and Bertha Cordelia Sellers Bryant. He retired from Phillips 66 in 1997 as a Painter, was a Tug Boat Captain and was a lifelong resident of Matagorda County.
He is survived by his wife, Maria Garcia Bryant of Sugar Valley; daughters, Mitzie Bryant of Alvin and Tanya Bryant Rodriguez of Bay City; step-daughters, Shelly Figueroa and husband, David Herrera of Sweeny, and Maria R. Figueroa and husband, Juan Jimenez of West Columbia; step-sons, Roger Hood and wife, Terri of Sugar Valley and Jose E. Figueroa of West Columbia. He is also survived by his brothers, Frankie E. Bryant of Wadsworth and Elvin W. Bryant of Matagorda; grandchildren, Christina Rodriguez Horelica, Mike Feland Horelica, Stephanie Ann Feland, Shellie Horelica, Aaron Horelica, Amanda Horelica and Glenda Horelica; and step-grandchildren, David Herrera, III and Myriam A. Darrell Blackwell, 64, of Huntsville, Texas, died Tuesday, April 17, 2001 at Huntsville Memorial Hospital in Huntsville. He was born September 14, 1936 in Freeport, Texas, to the late William Travis and Lula Mae Hill Blackwell. Mr. Blackwell was a member of the Baptist Church, a resident of Huntsville, the past three years and a former resident of Houston.
