Charles Henry Smith
Charles Henry Smith, 69, of Lake Jackson, died at 11:10 a.m. Thursday, September 28, 2000 in Houston's Methodist Hospital after a short illness. Charles was the son of the late Elmo and Edna Muriel Smith and was born December 6, 1930 in Lubbock, Texas. He grew up in Lamesa, Texas. On June 26, 1949, he married Helen Nadine Schaeffer there in Lamesa. Charles graduated from Baylor University in Waco, Texas. He attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. He was City Secretary of the City of Lake Jackson for 25 years, 1971 until his retirement in 1995. He was a 30-year member of the Texas Municipal Clubs Association. He was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Lake Jackson.
He is survived by his wife, Nadine of Lake Jackson; son, Rev. David Lee Smith and his wife, Debbie of Hermitage, Arkansas; daughter, Deborah Ann Smith of Lake Jackson; three grandchildren, Nathan Paul Smith and wife, Stacey, Rebecca Gayle Wilson and husband Gary, Matthew Aaron Smith; sister, Jonnie Merle White of Lamesa; numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Billy Rhea Smith.
Family will receive friends 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday at the Lakewood Chapel. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, October 2, 2000 at the First Baptist Church of Lake Jackson with Dr. John Hatch officiating and his son, Rev. David Lee Smith assisting.

Franklin J. Sabrsula
Franklin J. Sabrsula, 71, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2000 at Methodist Hospital in Houston. Franklin was an area resident since 1946 and was a member of the Lake Jackson Church of Christ. He retired from Dow Chemical Company in 1986 after forty years of service.
He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Quintella Sabrsula of Lake Jackson; one son, Michael G. Sabrsula and wife, Toni of Lake Jackson; three grandchildren, Joseph Ryan Sabrsula, Miranda Kate Sabrsula, Matthew Mayberry; one brother, Roy Lee Sabrsula of Beasley; three sisters, Doris Gean Berry of Houston, Rose Elaine Kovar and Loyce Ann Reber both of Wallis, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Albina Sabrsula; and one granddaughter, Katy Mayberry.
Family will receive friends Friday, 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with visitation until 9:00 p.m. at the Lakewood Chapel. Funeral services will be 12 noon Saturday, September 30, 2000 at the Lake Jackson Church of Christ with Mr. Chris Benjamin officiating. Graveside services will be 4 p.m. at the Hartsville Cemetery, Wallis, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Sabrsula, Johnathon Sabrsula, Jason Reber, Charles Berry, Jimmy Dale O'Bryan and Bryan Kovar.

Mr. Self was born January 7, 1960 in Birmingham, Alabama. He is survived by his mother and step-father, Jacqulyn and Bill Benson of Brazoria; brother, Marvin Dale Self of Houston; sisters, Deborah Akers of Houston, Sally Michele Nichols of Katy; niece, Sarah Akers of Houston; aunt and uncle Avery and Madlyn Harrell of Houston.

Cortney Brookes Fortenberry
Cortney Brookes Fortenberry, age 22, of Wharton, passed away Wednesday, October 6, 1999, in Wharton County from injuries sustained in a two-car motor vehicle accident. She was born October 2, 1977 in Wharton, the daughter of Melissa Wessels and Joe Allen Fortenberry.
Cortney was a lifelong resident of Wharton and a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. She was a 1995 graduate of Wharton High School. Cortney was employed as a car salesperson for Von-Wil Ford and most recently Don Elliott Autoworld in Wharton.
Funeral mass services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 9, 1999, at Holy Family Catholic Church with Father Joe Vrana officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.

Trevor Luke Brittain
Our little angel, Trevor Luke Brittain, born January 12, 1999, went back to heaven on October 7, 1999.
His loving parents, Mark and Theresa Brittain of Austin, formerly of Lake Jackson, said goodbye to him at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston.
Trevor is also survived by grandparents, John and Dimple Haakman of Lake Jackson and Jesse and Katherine Brittain of LaPorte; great-grandmother, Ethel Lowry-Davis of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; aunt, uncle and cousin, Terry, Jerry and Jacob Hundl of Brazoria; and numerous other aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, October 10, 1999, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 11, 1999, at St. Catherine Catholic Church, Convict Hill Road, Austin, Texas.
Interment will follow at Forest Oaks Cemetery.

Jerry Seth Chambliss
Jerry Seth Chambliss of Georgetown, Texas, met his Savior, Jesus Christ, face to face on Friday, August 15, 2008, in Austin, Texas. He is the son of the late Vernon L. and Pernie Hood Chambliss of Sweeny, Texas.
Jerry was born in Bay City, Texas, on January 29, 1949. He graduated from Sweeny High in 1967 and attended Wharton Junior College.
He is survived by his wife, Kay; sons, Seth Chambliss and wife, Kerry, of Temple, Texas, and Jared Chambliss and wife, Claudia, of Katy, Texas. Jerry also is survived by stepsons, Derrick Dixon and wife, Jessica, of Lakeway, Texas, and Aaron Dixon and wife, Dana, of Nacogdoches, Texas. He also leaves behind sisters, Exa Mae Keller and husband, Rex, of Sweeny, and Verna Beth Bland of Memphis, Tennessee; six grandchildren, Coby, Graham, Caleb, Cooper, Kendall and Emma; as well as four nephews, a niece and numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 17, 2008, at 3 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Sweeny.
Burial will follow in Sweeny Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be cousin, Gary Lloyd Hood; nephews, Craig Keller, Lane Keller, Joey Bland and Keith Bland; and great-nephew, Richard Hood.
In lieu of flowers, Jerry's family requests that memorials be made in his name to the Kidney Foundation, Helping Hands and Hearts Hospice or the charity of your choice.
