Funeral services for Elizabeth New, 84, of Sweeny, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 2, 2000 at First United Methodist Church in Sweeny with Rev. Bill Jobe officiating.
Private family graveside services will be held at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston.
She was born Friday, August 18, 1916 in Oakhill, Missouri, and passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2000 in Sweeny.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, December 1, 2000 at Baker Funeral Home in West Columbia.
She had been an area resident for 49 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sweeny, Delta Kappa Gamma, Eta Psi Chapter, where she was a Past President, Texas Retired Teachers Association and Brazoria County Retired Teachers Association.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Charles W. New, of Sweeny; son & daughter-in-law, Charles K. & Susan New of Arvada, Colorado; daughter & son-in-law, Sylvia E. & Andrew Berry of Lampasas; sister, Eva Carpenter of Houston; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; seven nieces; and two nephews.

Gloria Jean Kennedy Mulcihy, formerly of Freeport, passed away Sunday, November 26, 2000 at her son's home in Austin, Texas.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, November 30, 2000 at the Lakewood Funeral Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 1, 2000, at the Gulf Prairie Presbyterian Church in Jones Creek.

James O'Neal "Bubba" Steamer, Sr.
Funeral services for James O'Neal "Bubba" Steamer, Sr., 55, of Freeport, will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 2, 2000, at First Baptist Church, 326 W. 4th Street, Freeport, with Rev. Gene Grear officiating.
Burial will follow at Mims Cemetery in Brazoria.
He passed away Monday, November 27, 2000 at Brazosport Memorial Hospital in Lake Jackson.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday, December 1, 2000 at the Dixon Funeral Home Chapel in Brazoria, and from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 2, 2000 at the Church in Freeport. There will be no viewing afterwards.
He was employed by ILA Local #30 as a laborer and was a member of the ASA Empire Association District #27 and was also a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Freeport.
Survivors include his mother, Lillie Edwards of Freeport; three sons, James O'Neal Steamer, Jr. (Michelle), Lawrence Douglas Steamer and Alvin Don Bates, Jr., all of Freeport; three daughters, Dorsey Marie Steamer, Kassandra Kay Steamer (Henry Woods, Jr.) and Nisha Bates (Clifford Laws) all of Freeport; five brothers, Isaac Steamer (Barbara Fay), Marvin Edwards (Stephanie) and Samuel Edwards, all of Freeport, Henry Edwards (Rosemary) of Houston and R.J. "Mickey" Steamer of Port Lavaca; three sisters, Julia K. Williams of Freeport, Judy Colbert-Taylor of Houston and Earlean Phillips of Wharton; four god-daughters, Tamara Cherie Brown of Jones Creek, Cathy Strambler of Freeport, Yaneik Bonner and Jade Townsend, both of Lake Jackson; nine grandchildren; and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Mary Louise Young Cranfill, 78, a retired sales associate, died Monday, November 27, 2000, in Grapevine.
Graveside services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 1, 2000 in Dollar Hide Cemetery in Foreman, Arkansas.
Visitation will be held from noon to 5:00 p.m. Thursday, Novemver 30, 2000 at Martin Thompson Funeral Home, 224 E. College Streeet, Grapevine.
Mary Louise Young Cranfill was a native of Foreman, Arkansas and a former long-time resident of Freeport. She had made her home in Grapevine, since September 1999. She was a member of the Grapevine Senior Citizens Center and the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her sons, Charles Martin Cranfill of Atlanta, Texas, and James David Cranfill and his wife, Beverly, of Southlake; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Yachtolee "Dale" Miller Shiflet went to be with her Lord and Savior after an extended illness, Monday, November 27, 2000 at 5:30 p.m. in Leesville, Louisiana.
Born in San Augustine County on August 13, 1930 - she is survived by her husband, Bryan Winford Shiflet; sister, Mertie Fletcher and husband Calvin of Sweeny; sister, Lois Hopson of Jacksonville; sister-in-law, Bobby Miller of Reklaw; sons, Bernie & wife, Sandy, of Lufkin, Jerry & wife, Connie, of Leesville, Louisiana; daughters, Elsie of Leesville, Louisiana and her husband, Robert Whittle, of Freeport, Mona and her husband, Gerald Drake, of Leesville, Louisiana; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and friends.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, November 30, 2000 at Gibson Funeral Home in Lufkin, Texas.
Burial will follow at Concord Cemetery in Zavalla, Texas.

Bessie Mary Patterson Orsak
Funeral services for Bessie Mary Patterson Orsak, 82, of Boling, previously of Danbury, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 20, 2001 at Palms Funeral Home with Joe Irwin and Bobby Charles officiating. Burial will follow at Angleton Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. She died on Tuesday, April 17, 2001 at Matagorda County Hospital in Bay City.
Bessie was born to Alois and Josephine Solarova Pechacek on March 16, 1919 in Danbury. She was a member of Eastern Star Angleton Lodge Chapter 54 and Danbury Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, a Home Demonstration Club Member in Danbury. Bessie worked as Danbury City Clerk and then as Assistant City Secretary, as well as Southwestern Bell-Danbury office, she wrote for the Brazosport Facts, was a secretary for over 10 years for Tuesday Morning Early Bird Bowling League, was a delegate for PTA and a member of SPJST. She played softball with Brazoria County Danbury League and was a member of a Bridge Club. Preceding her in death are first husband, Willie Patterson; and son, Billy Patterson.
Surviving are husband, Sid Orsak of Boling; daughter, Mary Patterson of Angleton; daughter-in-law, Glynda Kay Patterson of Angleton; grandchildren, Cheryl Fowler, Bo Patterson, Billy Ed Patterson, all of Angleton; great-grandchildren, Amber Sprague and Sara Patterson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Active and Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Fowler, Augustina Parra, Jeff Mitroivich, Ricky Washington, Brian McDonald, Stoney Garner, Leo Brock, Louis Frances Smith, Jimmy Fillipps, Milton Mitrovich and past and present members of Danbury Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

Emily Clyde Sims Hardin
Emily Clyde Sims Hardin, 87, of Houston, died Monday, April 16, 2001 at Angleton-Danbury General Hospital in Angleton, Texas.
Mrs. Hardin was born in Merryville, Louisiana, on July 1, 1913 to John Carson Sims and Annie Elizabeth Snowden Sims. She was predeceased by her husband, Martin Benjamin "Jack" Hardin, and her daughter, Clinta Ann Rayburn Steele.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ben and Sue Hardin, and her grandsons, Martin B. "Trey" Hardin, III and Robert Sims Hardin, all of Lake Jackson; her brother, H. C. Sims of Houston, Texas; and her sisters, Dickie Lorenc of Houston, Texas and Billie McRae of Leesville, Louisiana.
Services are pending. The family requests no flowers.

Leveta was born to Robert and Velma Adkins Flowers in Geneva, Texas, on December 13, 1933. She was a member of Wilkins & Downing Church of Christ and retired from the Brazoria County Library System after 25 years. Leveta died on Tuesday, April 17, 2001 at her residence.
Survivors are her husband of 50 years, Vernon Cochran of Angleton; four daughters, Brenda O'Bannion and husband, Mike of Shiner, Texas, Lynn McLean and husband, Ted of Nacogdoches, Texas, Charlotte Dunn and husband, Jim of Forth Worth, Texas, and Dana Berry and husband, Roger of Pearland; one sister, Betty Horn and husband, Kenneth of Mesquite, Texas; two brothers, Jerry Flowers and wife, Donna of Silsbee, Texas, Mike Flowers and wife, Donna of Chester, Texas; 10 grandchildren, Brad O'Bannion, Jennifer McDonald, Eddie Dunn, Patrick Dunn, Kimmee O'Bannion, Theresa Dunn, Danny Dunn, Judith Dunn, Andy Berry and Jordan Berry.
