GLYNN OLAND "STEVE" STEVENS
Glynn Oland "Steve" Stevens, 64, of Freeport, Texas went to be with the Lord Sunday, September 9, 2001, at his home.
Steve came to the area in 1956. He worked for Dow Chemical Company for over 35 years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Virginia Alloy Stevens of Freeport; two daughters, Vicky Stevens Walker & husband John of Baytown and Mitzi Stevens Anderson & husband Ricky of San Marcos; seven grandchildren; one sister, Mae Stevens Brittain of Many, Louisiana; step-mother, Katie Stevens of San Augustine; and step-brother, Ronald Poindexter of Sulphur, Louisiana.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Cecil Stevens; and his father, James Stevens.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 11, 2001 at the Freeport Funeral Home in Freeport.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 12, 2001 at the Velasco Baptist Church in Freeport with Rev. Terry Backen officiating.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time Thursday at the Mangum Funeral Home in Center, Texas. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the Mangum Funeral Home with interment at the Old Union Cemetery with Rev. Terry Backen officiating.
The family requests donations to the Hospice Care Team or the American Heart Association.

MERLIN EUGENE (GENE) LEPPER
Merlin Eugene (Gene) Lepper departed this life on Saturday, September 8, 2001 at Methodist Hospital in Houston, following a stroke. Gene was 74 years old.
Gene was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on November 14, 1926. He attended Butler University until enlisting in the army. He served in World War II where he was stationed in the Philippines and served in the military police for 2 years. After serving in the army, he attended Mexico City College where he enjoyed a decorated football career. He was known as "Mexico City College's fiery 22-year old guard". Gene was a teacher, coach, assistant principal and principal in the Brazosport school district for 30 years, most of it spent at Lake Jackson Intermediate School.
After his professional career, Gene remained in the Brazosport area, spending most of his time helping others. His compassion and understanding of others was huge, and will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
His mother and father, Alma and Merlin Lepper and brothers, Wally and Eddie preceded Gene in death.
Gene is survived by his loving wife, Patsy L. Lepper of Brazoria; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Debbie Lepper of Michigan; daughter and son-in-law, Gina and Armondo Garcia of Houston; step-daughter, Jenice Fernandez and husband, Troy of Lake Jackson; step-son, Wesley Slaughter of Brazoria; brothers, Tom Lepper and Larry Lepper and wife, Judy of Indiana; grandchildren, Steven, Phillip and Travis Lepper of Michigan, Lauren Garcia of Houston and Drake and Max Fernandez of Lake Jackson.
A memorial ceremony to celebrate Gene's life and share our memories, will be held at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Lake Jackson on Wednesday, September 12, 2001 at 6:00 p.m. There will be a reception immediately following the memorial ceremony at St. Michael's.
Honorary pallbearers will be Earl Votaw, Joe Roldan, Bill Wakely, Jay Caperton, Johnny Redden, Flash Walker, Leo Neuerburg, Russel Lidberg and Richard Kramer.

Rhonda Henderson, 31, of Lake Jackson, Texas went to be with the Lord, Saturday, September 8, 2001.
Rhonda graduated from Brazosport High School in 1992.
She is survived by her father and step-mother, Clyde & Vivian Henderson of Lake Jackson; two brothers, Daniel E. Henderson & wife Gaye of Carrollton, Texas and Roger C. Henderson & wife Sharon of Leander, Texas; three step-brothers, Tommy Fletcher & wife Gracie of Brazoria, Ray Fletcher of Lake Jackson and Dale Fletcher & wife Theresa of Brazoria.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Susan Henderson; and her mother, Maudine Henderson.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 12, 2001, at the Lakewood Funeral Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 13, 2001 at Temple Baptist Church in Clute, Texas with Brother Greg Caldwell officiating.
Interment will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 14, 2001 at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe, Louisiana.

Graveside services for Robert Dale Farris, 63, of Clute, formerly of Coldwater, Michigan, will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 13, 2001 at Colonial Cemetery in Brazoria with Rev. Mike Davis officiating.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 12, 2001 from 12:00 until 5:00 p.m. at Palms Funeral Home.
Robert died on Sunday, September 9, 2001 at a Houston hospital.
Robert was born to Dale and Nellie VanBlarcom Farris on July 25, 1938 in Coldwater, Michigan. Brother, James J. Farris and sisters, Marjorie Burk and Beverly Farris precede him in death.
Survivors include son, Scott E. Farris of Clute; daughters, Elisha Farris of Gatesville, Texas, Josie Parent of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Bonnie JaWard of Dearborn, Michigan, Deanna Farris of Ecouse, Michigan; brother, William Farris; sister, Jennie Southcott of Coldwater, Michigan; and 9 grandchildren.

Funeral services for Guadalupe Carmona, Sr., 50, of Brazoria, will be Monday, Oct. 22, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. at the Dixon Funeral Home Chapel in Brazoria with Father Lee Flores officiating. Burial will be in the Sweeny Cemetery.
He died Friday, Oct. 19, 2001 at his residence.
He is survived by his wife, Elvira Carmona, Brazoria; 3 sons, Alexander Carmona, Guadalupe Carmona, Jr., Juan Carmona, all of Brazoria; 3 daughters, Celia Carmona, Maria Perfecta Carmona, Josefina Carmona, all of Brazoria; 3 brothers, Mariano Carmona, Illinois, Jose Carmona, Mexico, Santiago Carmona, Mexico; 3 sisters, Maria Hernandez, Illinois, Consuelo Martinez, Reina Lopez; 2 grandchildren.

Ruby Fay Rigby, 81, of Jones Creek, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, October 19, 2001 at Woodlake Nursing Home.
She was born on November 9, 1919 in Iola, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday October 23, 2001 at Stroud Funeral Home in Clute.
Interment will be at Park Cemetery in Madisonville, Texas.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, October 22, 2001 at Stroud Funeral Home in Clute.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Davis Rigby; parents, Nicholas and Margaret LaSalle; four brothers, George, Mitchell, Fred and John LaSalle; three sisters, Pearl Borah, Fannie Wade and Linnie Durdin.
Survivors include her two sons, Jimmy Rigby of Jones Creek and Andrew LaSalle of Clute; three grandsons, Jimbo and Jessie Rigby and A.C. LaSalle, Jr.; granddaughter, Marla Cole; numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Arthur LaSalle of Iola and twin, Rubin Ray LaSalle, Sr. of Temple; and many other loving relatives and friends.

LAWRENCE THOMAS "L.T." JOHNSON
Services for Lawrence Thomas, "L.T." Johnson, 90, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 11, 2001 at Westwood United Methodist Church of Palestine.
Mr. Johnson died Saturday, October 13, 2001, at his residence and his body was donated to science.
He was born April 12, 1911, in Texarkana, to Nancy Black Johnson and Lawrence Emmitt Johnson.
Mr. Johnson graduated in 1936 from Rice University in Houston with a degree in chemical engineering. He retired from Dow Chemical Co. in 1976 with 37 years of service.
He resided in Palestine since 1980, where he was a member of Westwood United Methodist Church.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lucille Hickman Johnson; daughter, Nancy Kolle of Grants Pass, Oregon; sons, Robert L. Johnson of Fort Worth and William A. "Bill" Johnson of Palestine; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
L.T., affectionately known as "Magoo" by his family and friends will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Westwood United Methodist Church, 110 Ridgewood Dr., Palestine, Texas 75801.
FRANCIS M. "TIP" TIPTON
Funeral services for Francis M. "Tip" Tipton will be at 3:00 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Angleton with Dr. Rodney Bowman and Rev. Dale Pruett officiating. Burial will follow at Angleton Cemetery. Friends may call at Palms Funeral Home on Sunday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
"Tip" was born in Clarksville, Arkansas, on January 28, 1933, to Marshall and Elizabeth Tipton. He was an Angleton resident since 1954. He was a retired instrument technician with Dow, was owner of Custom Screens in Angleton and was an avid golfer. He died on Saturday in a Houston hospital. His parents and 2 brothers, W.B. Medley Tipton and Carl E. Tipton, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife Darla Tipton of Angleton; son Martin Dale Tipton of Angleton; daughter Darion Elizabeth Irvine and husband John of Angleton; brothers James Marshall Tipton of Stockton, California, and Marvin Ray Johnson of Seattle, Washington; sister Shirley Ann Curtis of Stockton, California; and grandson Spencer Wilson Irvine.
Pallbearers will be Blake Barthlome, Buddy Simmons, Mike Pruett, Adam Martindale, Bill Whitworth and John Irvine. Honorary pallbearers will be W.T. Hazlewood, Don Brawley and Alex Johnson.
In lieu of usual remembrances, donations may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund or Happy Circle.
