BETTE SUE SPILLERS

Bette Sue Spillers McCoy, 67, of Katy, Texas, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2001 at St. Katherine’s Hospital in Katy, Texas.
Funeral services are pending with Lakewood Funeral Chapel in Lake Jackson, TX.

RAYMOND GARZA HERRERA

Funeral Mass for Raymond Garza Herrera, age 95, of Angleton, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Danbury, with Father William Kelly officiating. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Harlingen City Cemetery in Harlingen, Texas.
Christian wake services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday at Palms Funeral Home. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday at Palms.
Mr. Herrera was born on September 30, 1906 in Mercedes, Texas, to Emiliano and Juanita Garza. He was a resident of Angleton, for 32 years, a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. He was a retired C.I.A. agent and retired barber. He had trained amateur boxers and was a castnet builder. The Angleton Times featured Mr. Herrera as an avid gardener of exotic plants. His sons, Rudy Herrera and Raymond Herrera, Jr., daughter, Michelle Herrera, sisters, Lydia Rodriguez and Alice Howell of Angleton, preceded him in death.
Surviving are son, Frank Arthur Herrera and wife, Denise of Waukesha, Wisconsin; brother, Abelardo Herrera of San Antonio; sister, Mary Ann Wagner of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; 6 grandchildren and special friends, Joyce and Robert Peltier of Angleton.
Arrangements by Palms Funeral Home.

DANIEL LEE GEISSEN

Funeral services are set for 1:00 p.m. Monday in the Palms Funeral Home Chapel for Daniel Lee Geissen, 70 of Danbury, with Deacon Gerald Peltier officiating. Burial will follow in the Danbury Cemetery. Mr. Geissen passed away Friday, Oct. 5, 2001 in a Houston hospital.
Friends may call from 5-9 p.m. Sunday at Palms Funeral Home.
Daniel Lee Geissen was born February 12, 1931 in Danbury, Texas, to Frank Joseph & Angeline Ann Svetlik Geissen. He was a life long Danbury, resident and a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. He retired from the U.S. Air Force & Air Force Reserve.
Mr. Geissen was preceded in death by his wife, Recial Geissen in 1996.
Survivors include his sons: Stephen Geissen & wife, Cheryl of Round Rock, Texas, & Gregory Geissen & wife, Debra of Nashville, TN, brother: F.J. Jerome Geissen of Austin; 6 grandchildren & 1 great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Jay Sims, A.J. “Meek” Filipp, Bobby Brittian, Jeff Tippit, Tyler Geissen & Wallace Morgan. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Korenek & Arnold Carpenter.

ANDREA JACKSON WEBER

Andrea Jackson Weber, 47, passed away Thursday, October 5, 2001, at Seton Hospital, Austin, Texas, after a lengthy battle with cystic fibrosis.
She is survived by her husband, James Weber, daughter, Allison, mother, Florence Jackson Grassman, brother, John G. Jackson, Jr., aunt, Margaret Currie, several cousins and many loving friends. She was preceded in death by a sister, Shelly Jackson and her father, John Grady Jackson.
Funeral services will be held in Marble Falls, Texas, Sunday, October 7, at 3 p.m., and graveside services will be held in Angleton, at 2 p.m. Monday, October 8, at Angleton Cemetery.

LINDSAY LEE MEYER

God has called his special angel home. On October 5, 2001, Lindsay Lee Meyer of Oyster Creek, passed away. Lindsay was a lifetime resident of Oyster Creek. She was a senior at Brazosport High School. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Freeport.
She is survived by her father and mother, Gary and Susan Meyer of Oyster Creek; twin sister, Mackinzie Kay Meyer of Oyster Creek; grandparents, Bill and Sonja Lummus of Sommerville, Texas; great-grandmother, Barbara Sullivan of Bay City, Texas; her aunts and uncles, David and Lisa Lummus, Jay and Dixie Meyer, Mike and Tonya Jones, Leslie and Tobi Meyer, James and Fay Allen and John Lummus; great-great-aunt, Junie McKissich; cousins, Bruce Meyer, Lacy and Brian Lamb, Jordan Meyer, Brandon and Heather Savage, Travis Parten, Tami Parten, Tori Parten, Maddy Lamb, Michael Lummus, Melissa Lummus, Matthew Lummus and Tawnya and Sean Beene.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, V.L. (Sonny) and Shirley Meyer and great-grandparents, Wesley Sullivan, Minnie Meyer and J.D. and Lottie Lummus.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, October 7, 2001 at the First Baptist Church of Freeport. The funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 8, 2001, at the First Baptist Church of Freeport, with private graveside services following at the Restwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jay Meyer, Leslie Meyer, David Lummus, Mike Jones, John Lummus and James Allen.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bruce Meyer, Sean Beene, Tim Lindsey, Don Schmidt, Pat Pessarra and the Brazosport High School class of 2002.
Family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Memorial Child Care Center in Freeport, Texas.
Through Lindsay’s death, the family chose to give another the chance to live through organ donations.

GLENDA M. LACINA

Glenda M. Lacina, 54, of Brazoria, died October 5, 2001 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Houston. She was born February 23, 1947 in Bay City, Texas, to the late Artie Rush and Mary Ann Campbell Street. Mrs. Lacina was a member of the Gulf Prairie Presbyterian Church of Jones Creek, a resident of Brazoria, since 1978 and a former resident of Bay City, and West Columbia.
Survivors include: husband Louis Lacina, Jr. of Brazoria; 2 daughters and a son-in-law: Kim Reynolds of Brazoria, Page and Tommy Krebs of Lake Jackson; son and daughter-in-law: Charles and Julie Lacina of Lake Jackson; sister: Yvonne Spaulding of West Columbia; brother and sister-in-law: Artie and Sue Street of Mt. Vernon, TX; 6 grandchildren: Justin and Kacie Lacina of Lake Jackson; Jennifer Brittany, and Tiffany Reynolds, all of Brazoria, and Kayla Krebs of Lake Jackson.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 8, 2001, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bryan Kyle officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Van Vleck. Arrangements with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home, Bay City. (979) 245-4613.

ANDREA ELIZABETH WEBER

Andrea Elizabeth Weber died Thursday, October 4, 2001 in Austin, Texas.
She was born December 13, 1953 in Angleton, Texas. She was the youngest of three children. She is preceded in death by her father, John G. Jackson, Jr. and sister, Shelley Irene Jackson. She is survived by her husband, Jim Weber; her daughter, Allison Weber, both of Marble Falls, Texas; her mother, Florence H. Grassman of Angleton, Texas; her brother, John Jackson and wife, Audrey Jackson; and three nephews, Wesley, Drew and Bradley Jackson, all from Houston, Texas; and aunt, Margaret Currie of Bluelake, Texas.
Andrea graduated from Angleton High School and The University of Houston with a degree in art and interior design. Andrea was a uniquely talented artist, excelling in the use of pastel watercolor medium.
She was admired for her great courage and dignity in her lifelong battle with cystic fibrosis. At age 47, Andrea was one of the oldest survivors of this disease. Andrea committed her life to staying well so that she could give her best to her husband and daughter. Andrea’s life was characterized by strong faith, determination and love.
Andrea was a devoted wife to her husband, Jim, and the pride and joy of her life was her daughter, Allison, who will be turning 13 on October 11th, the day of Andrea and Jim’s 21st wedding anniversary.
The family wishes to give special thanks to the wonderful nursing staff at Seaton Medical Center, Austin, Texas, 4 North, for their love and support during the last 15 years.
Her life will be celebrated at 3 p.m., October 7, 2001 at the First United Methodist Church of Marble Falls, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, October 8, 2001 at Angleton City Cemetery, Angleton, Texas.
Memorials may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 4501 Spicewood Springs #1022, Austin, TX 78759.

ANNIE BELL SIMON

Funeral services for Annie Bell Simon, 78, of Angleton, are pending with Dixon Funeral Home of Brazoria.
She died Friday, October 5, 2001 at Country Village Nursing Home in Angleton.

JOHN DOLTON MADERA

Funeral services for John Dolton Madera, age 75, of Rosharon, will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, October 6, 2001 at Palms Funeral Home with Rev. Carroll Grigsby officiating. Friends may call at Palms Funeral on Saturday, October 6, 2001 from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
Mr. Madera was born to Wiley and Edna Madera in Harrell, Arkansas, on September 18, 1926. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, a resident of Rosharon for 29 years, an avid rancher and enjoyed his cutting horses. He worked for Dixons Tomatoes for 27 years and then became owner and operator of Texas Tomatoes until his retirement in 1991. He was also a partner in a 1700-acre ranch.
Mr. Madera passed away on Thursday at his residence.
His son, Phil Damon Madera, preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife, Anna of Rosharon; daughter, Barbara Graves of Angleton; brother, Lawrence Madera of Harrell, Arkansas; sisters, Jeanette Hoffman of Pin Bluff, Arkansas, Zora Calvert of Warren, Arkansas; grandchildren, John Graves, Tara Graves and Lacy Graves of Angleton.
In lieu of usual remembrances donations may be made to Hospice Care Team, 107 West Way #29, Lake Jackson, TX 77566.
