NEIL DOUGLAS WHITLEY

Neil Douglas Whitley passed away at the age of 75 on Sunday, September 30, 2001.
Visitation will be held at 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 3, 2001 at Oak Park Funeral Home Chapel in Alvin, Texas.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. at Oak Park Funeral Chapel. Interment at Oak Park Cemetery.

ROY VINCENT JONES

Roy Vincent Jones passed away at his residence at the age of 58 on Monday, October 1, 2001.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2001 at 12:30 p.m. at Houston National Chapel with Reverend Bruce Guillot officiating. Interment at Houston National Cemetery.

NETTIE MAE STARNS SHELL

Funeral services for Nettie Mae Starns Shell, age 94, of Angleton, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Palms Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Mills officiating, and burial will follow at Angleton Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until 12 noon on Monday.
Mrs. Shell was born on July 17, 1907 in Chelsea, Oklahoma, to John and Lucinda Starns. She passed away on Saturday, September 29th in Angleton.
Mrs. Shell is preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Shell, Sr. (1972), as well as her daughter, Bernice Wittliff; sons, Elmer Earl Shell, Edward John Shell, and Noble Ralph Shell; grandsons, Robert Hightower, Derk McDaniel, Phillip Belk, Gary Belk; great-grandsons, Jason Nelson and Jerry Ray McDaniel; great-great-granddaughter, Valerie Miller and great-great-grandson, Colton Schure.
Surviving are sons: Robert Merle Shell and wife, Charley Faye of Sweeny, Elmer J. Shell, Jr, and wife, Mary of Mathis, James Riley Shell and wife, Linda of Sweeny, Frank Lee Shell of Angleton, William Boyd Shell, Sr., of Angleton; daughters: Pricella Goehring of Melbourne, Arkansas, Martha Jane Jordon and husband, Edward of Angleton, Lucinda Collins and husband, Bob of Angleton, Minnie Ella Mutina and husband, Jake of Danbury, Joan Marie McCullum and husband, David of Alvin, Diane Bars and husband, Jimmy of Livingston, Elvie Anna Steves of Angleton; sons-in-law: Willie Wittliff of Houston, Clarence Reinger of Sweeny; 113 grandchildren; 128 great-grandchildren; 26 great-great-grandchildren and long lifetime friends, Fannie Cothron and Frances Tomlin.
Pallbearers will be grandsons: Marty McDaniel, James Steven Bars, Tony Mutina, Kurt Warrick, Kenny Mutina, Roy Shell, Elmer Jay Shell, III, Donnie Shell and Scott Flournoy. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons, grandson-in-laws and great-grandsons.
In lieu of usual remembrances, donations may be made in her memory to 2nd Baptist Church (where she was a member), P.O. Box 1388, Angleton, or American Kidney Assoc. or American Heart Assoc., P.O. Box 15186, Austin, TX 78761-5186.

ROSE FRANCIS REAGAN

Funeral services for Rose Frances Reagan, 87, lifetime resident of Danbury, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Danbury Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Grable officiating. Burial will follow at the Danbury Cemetery.
Mrs. Reagan passed away Sunday, September 30, 2001 in Angleton.
She was born Dec. 2, 1913 to Barbara and Henry Skucius. She was a member of Danbury Baptist Church and was retired from Danbury Independent School District.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday at Palms Funeral Home.
Mrs. Reagan is survived by her son, James H. Reagan and wife, Evelyn A. of Pearland, daughter, Betty Reagan of Danbury, sister, Mabel Pavlicek of Pasadena, step-grandson, William Pizano, step-great-grandson, Will Pizano and wife, Nancy, step-great-great-granddaughter, Danilla Pizano, and great-great-grandson, Alexander Pizano.

O.L. DICKSON

Funeral services for Mr. Orbie Lynch Dickson, 77, of Sand Flat, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1 at Hilliard Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David McNary and the Rev. Steven Slaughter officiating.
Burial will be in Union Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Hilliard Funeral Home of Van.
Mr. Dickson died Sept. 29, 2001 at his home.
He was born June 23, 1924 in Palo Pinco County, Texas, and lived in South Texas, from 1952 to 1982 before moving to Sand Flat, after retirement.
He was a member of Pruitt Baptist Church, was a safety engineer for Dow Chemical Co., a Mason and served in the Navy in WWII.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joy Ruth Dickson on Dec. 15, 1994, and two brothers, Harvey Glenn Dickson and Noah Clifford Dickson.
He is survived by his wife, Murrah Dee Dickson of Sand Flat; one son, Larry Joe Dickson and wife, Patricia of Tucson, Arizona; four daughters, Judy Ann Martinez and husband, Roy of Clute, Sharon Lou Dickson and husband David of Lake Jackson, Kathy Elaine Battle of Lake Jackson, and Judy Watson and husband James of Mesquite; one sister, Betty May Plunk and husband Ben of Lindale; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Steven Slaughter, Danny Dickson, Tyrel Battle, Shaun Battle, Aaron Slaughter, Brady Slaughter, Christopher Watson and Michael Watson.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Sunday night.
Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.

MAEBELLE SCHOEN

Maebelle Schoen, a resident of Alvin, Texas, for 20 years, passed away September 27, 2001 at the age of 81. She was born in Lee County, Texas, on March 18, 1920, the daughter of Lem and Anna Pearl Edwards Jones. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and Eagles International.
Maebelle is survived by her sisters, Hazel Snowden of Austin, Texas, and Thelma “Beckie” Harper of Alvin, Texas; her brothers, Buford Jones, Richard Jones and Elton Jones, all of Austin, Texas; nieces, Virginia Harper DiFrancesco and Wanda Harper Meyer, both of Alvin, Texas, and numerous other relatives.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, September 30, 2001 at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home in Friendswood, Texas. The Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 1, 2001 at Adina Christian Church in Lexington, Texas. Burial will follow at Adina Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest in the Jones family plot.

BRADMANTE "BRAD" PURSLEY

The angels came and took our special angel to be with the Lord on September 26, 2001.
Bradmante “Brad” Pursley passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2001 at Brazosport Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 29, 2001 at Jones Creek Baptist Church with Brother Brent Pittman and Rev. A. J. Pate officiating. Graveside services will follow at Gulf Prairie Cemetery in Jones Creek, Texas.
She was born on December 24, 1916, in New Iberia, Louisiana. Bradmante Mathilde Natoli was born into a family of seven girls to Vincent and Dominica Natoli, formerly of Reggio De Calabria, Italy. Her father named her Bradmante after a female warrior in Italian mythology and Brad was definitely the most independent of all the sisters. She married the love of her life, Thurman “Slim” Pursley on September 17, 1940 in Franklin, Louisiana and moved to Jones Creek, Texas. They enjoyed a wonderful life together, raising their daughter and grandchildren. After retirement, they traveled throughout the U.S. with the Good Sam Club. Brad and Slim were devoted charter members of the Jones Creek Baptist Church.
There, she served as a Sunday School teacher, the Flower Committee and the Ministry Action Committee. Brad’s love for her family knew no boundaries. Her great spirit, love, determination, kindness and love for life will be deeply missed. She will always be remembered as a wonderful and loving wife, mother, Nanny, great-grandmother, friend and was loved by all.
She is survived by her daughter, Lorna Pursley Bennett and husband, Doyle; two grandchildren, Laura Black and husband, Robert and Cade Bennett; and great-grandson, Will Bennett Black, all of Jones Creek, Texas; nieces, Rita and Cheryl Anderson, Sarah Mello, Connie B. Purtle, Betty Jo Smith; nephews, Darrin Anderson, Joseph Giardina, Johnny Marzulla, Charles Lusco, Johnny Baranco and Bobby Craig; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thurman “Slim” Pursley; parents, Vincent and Dominica Patina Natoli; seven sisters, Angelina Marzullo, Nina N. Baranco, Philomena N. Holmes, Carmella N. Lusco, Jeanne N. Delcambre, Rose N. Blackstock, Sarah N. Genaro; and niece, JoAnn Pursley Harvey.
Pallbearers will be Cade Bennett, Robert Black, Sam Harvey, Michael Searcy, Zane Clanton and Jerry Danes.
Honorary pallbearers will be Marvin and Darrin Anderson, Kenneth Drawhorn, Robert McNeely, Robert Mares, all of her nephews and the members of the Good Sam Club.
Memorials may be made in Brad’s name to the Jones Creek Baptist Church.

SARAH KAY MILLER

Sarah Kay Miller, 38, lifelong Clute resident, died peacefully at her niece’s home in Lake Jackson, on September 27, 2001, from complications of a benign brain tumor, after a short stay at Methodist Hospital in Houston.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 30, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. at Willow Drive Baptist Church in Lake Jackson, with Pastor Rodney Coates and Chaplain Rick Atkinson officiating.
Visitation will be on Saturday, September 29, 2001 from 5:30-8 p.m. at Stroud Funeral Home.
Interment will be at Restwood Memorial Park.
Sarah was born in Freeport, on May 8, 1963. She touched the lives of many people. She will be remembered for her shy smile, frequent chuckle, steadfast loyalty and unquestioning love.
She was preceded in death by her older sister, Marilyn Miller; and her brother-in-law, Fred Prather.
She is survived by her loving and devoted family, parents, Rolf E. and Belle Miller; oldest brother, Eddie Miller and wife, Mary; sister, Sue Haney and husband, Mark; sister, Ellen Harris; brother, Richard Miller and wife, Dorothy of Lake Jackson; nieces and nephews, Susan Townsend, Allen Mims, Ian (Tina) Prather, Julie (Ricky) Schuster, Connie Williford, Sheila (Bobbie) Mathews, Rusty (Debra) Mathews, Rachel Miller, Amanda Miller and Marilyn Miller; ten great-nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her lifelong friend, Sherry “Berry” Smith and her beloved poodle, Ginger Kay Miller.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice Care Team, 107 West Way, Ste. 29, Lake Jackson, TX 77566.
The family wishes to thank surgeons, Dr. Newton Coker and Dr. Charles Neblett as well as the staff of the Neurosurgical Intensive Care Unit at Methodist Hospital for their professional and loving care of Sarah during her short stay there.

JANETTE STONE OLSON

Janette Stone Olson, 79, of Freeport, went to be with Jesus on September 26, 2001 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2001 at 2:30 p.m. at Cornerstone Worship Center with Pastor Charles Logan officiating.
Visitation will be Friday, September 28, 2001 from 3-6 p.m. at Stroud Funeral Home.
Interment will be at Restwood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Olson was a lifetime resident of Freeport. She was a faithful Christian, wife, mother, sister, grandmother and loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of Cornerstone Worship Center.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Evelyn Rivinius.
Survivors include her husband, George E. Olson, Jr. of Freeport; daughter, Peggy Diane Woods of Clute; step-daughter, Linda Berry and husband, Mark of Ft. Worth; son, Jeff David Wood of Rock Hill, South Carolina; step-son, Randy Olson and wife, Marsha of Kerrville; sisters, Louise Adams of Freeport, Marie Myers of San Antonio, Jackie Wilson of Ft. Stockton; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and many other loving relatives and friends.

JOMO KENYATTA ‘CHICKEN’ PREVOST

Funeral services for Jomo Kenyatta ‘Chicken’ Prevost, 41, of Freeport, will be Saturday, September 29, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. at Agape Fellowship Church, 1302 Broad, Freeport, with Rev. Hannis Prince, Jr. officiating. Burial will be at Peaceful Rest Cemetery in Brazoria, Texas.
He died Friday, September 21, 2001 at Specialty Hospital of Houston in Houston, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Lillie Prevost of Freeport; father, Louis Prevost of Houston, Texas; step-father, Charles Perry, Sr. of Clute; step-son, Roscoe Anderson of Freeport; daughter, Luwanna Hobbs of Freeport; step-daughter, Vanessa Randall and Tommy Sr. of Angleton; sister, Rena Bryant and Anthony of Freeport; mother-in-law, Irene Moreland of Freeport; two nieces, Imeathia Bryant and Antoinnette Bryant, both of Freeport; nephew, Charles Perry, Jr.; four grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
Active pallbearers will be Roscoe Anderson, Chester Thompson, Dave Marshall, Charles Perry, Jr. Anthony Bryant and Randy Ross.
Honorary pallbearers will be Perry Miller, Tommy Randall, Thomas Moreland, Anthony Moreland, Thomas Mack, and Charles Perry, Sr.
Visitation will be Friday, September 28, 2001 at Dixon Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
