Audra Pierce
Audra Renola (McNee) Pierce, 87, of Konawa, Oklahoma, passed away Monday, June 11, 2001 at Sunset Estates Nursing Home in Tecumseh, Oklahoma.
The daughter of George Raymond and Bertha (Hudspeth) McNee, she was born July 22, 1913 in the Shelton/Eva Community near Guymon, Oklahoma.
She was united in marriage to James Clifford (Pete) Pierce on November 3, 1937 in Guymon. The Pierce family farmed and ranched in the Glenrose/Unity Community for many years. Audra drove the Unity school bus and also worked in the Academy Intermediate School lunchroom in Guymon. In 1967, the Pierce family sold their land in the Panhandle and moved to a ranch near Asher, Oklahoma. In 1978, they moved to Konawa, Oklahoma, where Audra lived until she was admitted to the Sunset Estates Nursing Home two months before her death.
Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn Simpson and husband, Richard of Sweeny, Texas; and one son, Russell Pierce of Konawa, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren, Blake Simpson of San Antonio, Brett Simpson and wife, Julie of Bridge Harbor in Freeport, Jim Pierce of Liberal, Kansas, Troy Pierce of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Bradley Pierce and wife, Kathy of Garber, Oklahoma, Teresa Bolen and husband, Russell of Konawa, Oklahoma, Ronnie Pierce of Konawa, Audra McIlwain of Georgia, Kimberly Brewer and husband, Gordon of Konawa, and Carla King and husband, Freddie of Vernon, Texas; and 20 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Beulah Pickard, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma; and a brother, Floyd McNee, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. (Pete) Pierce, who passed away January 4, 1987; a son, Raymond Pierce (April 5, 1999), two brothers, Niles and Melvin McNee; and two sisters, Marjorie Pickard and Leona Andrade; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13, 2001 at the Henson-Novak Funeral Chapel with Rev. Odie Nunley officiating. Interment was in the Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon, Oklahoma.
Orville Webster Richards
Orville Webster Richards, 76, of Lake Jackson, Texas, passed away Monday, June 18, 2001 at St. Luke's Hospital in Houston, Texas.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 21, 2001 at the Lakewood Funeral Chapel with Rev. Kenneth James, personal friend and resident of Sweeny, Texas.
Orville was an Electrical Supervisor for Dow Chemical Co. and retired after 40 years of faithful service. He was a WWII veteran in the Army Corps of Engineers, past Commander of the local American Legion, a member of the First Baptist Church of Lake Jackson, and a Lake Jackson resident for 46 years.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Harvey Richards, of Lake Jackson; by daughters, Darlene Tracy and husband, Mike, Sr. of Lake Jackson, Linda Stearns and husband, Joe, of McLean, Virginia, and Wanda Jernigan and husband, Kenneth, of Kingwood, Texas; by four grandchildren, Mike Tracy, Jr., Rick Tracy, Mark Tracy and Kendra Jernigan; by two great-grandchildren, Emily Tracy and Zachary Tracy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bradford and Emma Richards and sister, Maurine McKnight.
Pallbearers will be Mike Tracy, Jr., Rick Tracy, Mark Tracy, Mike Tracy, Sr., Kenneth Jernigan, Joe Stearns and Kendra Jernigan.

Poncie DeLeon Medlock
Funeral services for Poncie DeLeon Medlock, 84, of Angleton, Texas, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 21, 2001 at Baker Funeral Home Chapel - West Columbia, with Steve Meadows officiating.
She died Tuesday, June 19, 2001 in Angleton, Texas.
Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Haven of Rest, West Columbia, Texas.
Mrs. Medlock was born December 3, 1916 in Chireno, Texas, and grew up in East Texas. She was a member of Grace Bible Church in West Columbia, a resident of Brazoria County, for over 60 years, and lived in Angleton, for the past 35 years. Her grandfather was Lyne "Tol" Barrett, who drilled the first oil well in Texas, at Oil Springs, near Nacogdoches. She was a good mother and friend. Poncie in a word means "LOYAL".
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Lillie and Robert Brown, Sr. of Orange, Dorothy and Gordon Wallace of Old Ocean and Barbara and Harry Janise of Angleton; sisters and brother-in-law, Buena May of West Columbia, Annie Wratislaw of Brazoria, and Edna Faye and Ernest French of West Columbia; grandchildren, Robert Brown, Jr., Kevin Wallace, Kyle Wallace, Carlton Janise, Sherry Sims, Robbie Hodgkinson and Tracy Nixon; great-grandchildren, Shikara Sims, Reagan Hodgkinson, Shonna Janise, Hope Janise, Sarah Cofer, Courtney Sewell, Brandon Sims, Christopher Hodgkinson, Ryan Brown, Kyle Brown, Colby Wallace, Derek Janise and Tyler Boaz; great-great-grandchildren, Kristen Elizabeth and James Hunter Sims; 14 nieces and 23 nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James H. and Maggie Barrett; husband, Oscar A. Medlock; brother, Ellis Miller; sisters, Pearl Beard and Jackie Argo; and granddaughter, Rhonda Brown.
Pallbearers will be Robert Brown, Jr., Christopher Hodgkinson, Brandon Sims, Robert C. Sims, Kevin Wallace and Kyle Wallace.

Willie Mae Douthitt
Willie Mae Douthitt, 77, passed away at Brazosport Memorial Hospital of natural causes.
A 60-year resident of Lake Jackson, she is survived by her son, John; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Her husband of 61 years, Boyd Douthitt, passed in September of last year.
"Me-Me", as she was called, will be dearly missed by family and friends.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 22, 2001 at Lakewood Funeral Chapel. A viewing will be held Thursday, from 6-8 p.m. at Lakewood.
Glenn Dale Heiniger
Glenn Dale Heiniger was born August 18, 1919 in Del Rey, California, to Dan and Rose Heiniger. He passed away on April 24, 2001 in Clovis, California, from complications resulting from Myelodysplastic Syndrome. Glenn graduated from Selma High School in 1937, where he was on the varsity basketball and football teams. In 1942, he received BS in Chemistry from the University of California, Berkley. He was employed by Dow Chemical, Texas Operations for 41 years. Glenn retired as a technical manager of waste disposal and Environmental Operations. Prior to that he had worked in Carbon Tetra Chloride and Epoxy.
Glenn married Eugenia McPhillips on December 28, 1957. They raised their family and developed many lasting friendships in Lake Jackson, Texas. He was an avid golfer, who refused to give up the sport even when plagued with a loss of balance. Glenn was a kind and generous man who will be remembered with love by family and friends.
Glenn was followed in death by his beloved wife, Jeanie. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Ann Heiniger and Cevin Quitoriano of Fresno, California, Jane Heiniger of Austin, Texas and John Heiniger and Jaqueline Kiefel of Marietta, Georgia; his granddaughter, Sarah Nicole Heiniger and his brother, Roy Heiniger of Selma, California.
Joint services will be shared by Glenn and his wife.
Eugenia "Jeanie" McPhillips Heiniger
Eugenia "Jeanie" McPhillips Heiniger was born November 27, 1925 in Midland, Michigan, to M. James and Edna McPhillips. She passed away on April 26, 2001 in Clovis, California, from pneumonia. She graduated from Midland High School in 1943. Jeanie received an RN from Saint Mary's Hospital School of Nursing in Saginaw, Michigan, in 1948. She was employed at Colorado General Hospital in Denver for two years before joining Dow Chemical in Midland, Michigan. In 1955, Jeanie transferred to Dow's Texas Operations as the first head nurse in the Industrial Medicine Department.
After marrying Glenn Heiniger, Jeanie retired to raise their family. During the 1970's, she was a partner in a business venture, importing "treasures" from the Orient. She enjoyed spending time on the golf course with her husband and made a "hole-in-one" before Glenn did. Jeanie was a loved and devoted mother, who had a strong zest for life. Jeanie's fun loving spirit and smiling face will be missed by family and friends.
Jeanie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Glenn. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Ann Heiniger and Cevin Quitoriano of Fresno, California, Jane Heiniger of Austin, Texas, and John Heiniger and Jaqueline Kiefel of Marietta, Georgia; his granddaughter, Sarah Nicole Heiniger and her brothers, Michael and Norris McPhillips; and many nieces and nephews. Her brother, Jerry McPhillips, preceded her in death.
Joint services will be shared by Jeanie and her husband. A Rosary will be held at Stroud Funeral Home on Thursday, May 17, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. and a Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Michael's Catholic Church on Friday, May 18, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Restwood Memorial Park in Lake Jackson.
Remembrances may be sent to the following: American Lung Association, American Diabetes Association, St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Michael's Catholic Church and Lake Jackson Chapter of Meals on Wheels.

"P.J." Richards, Jr.
"P.J." Richards, Jr., 10, a resident of Angleton, Texas, was sent to be with our Heavenly Father on September 11, 1999 at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston, Texas. He was born Sept. 17, 1988 in Houston, at the same hospital and has been a blessing to all who knew him, and the ones who knew of him. He was such a happy child and his smile was always a special blessing to us all.
Funeral services are scheduled from 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999, at the Lakewood Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ken Murray officiating. Family will receive friends at the chapel from 6-9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 13.
He is the son of Perry Richards, Sr. and Renee Richards (most precious parents), and survived by one beloved brother, Thomas Richards, by his grandparents, Butch & Nancy Richards, by Lonnie Lewis, by aunt Tammi & Wayne Wessels, and by his beloved home nurses, Laurie McDaniels and Katherine White. He leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Betty Lewis.

Lorene Waltrip Tiller
Lorene Waltrip Tiller, age 78, a 45-year resident of Clute, Texas, and 61-year resident of Brazoria County, passed away at her residence Saturday, Sept. 11, 1999. Lorene was he beloved wife of Clarence James Tiller (deceased) and dear sweet mother of four children, Ronnie Wines (deceased) of Lake Jackson, Texas; Rick Tiller of Alvin Texas; Danice Franklin of Angleton, Texas; and Terry Tiller of Richwood, Texas. Lorene loved and was loved by her daughters-in-law, Rachel Wines, Mandy Tiller and Rhonda Tiller and son-in-law, Kenneth Franklin.
Lorene loved her grandchildren and their loved ones: Melissa Tiller of Richwood, Texas and Blake Tiller of Richwood, Texas; Tiffany Tiller of League City; Matthew Tiller of Alvin, Texas; Jason Tiller (deceased); Wendy and Scott McPhail and great-grandchildren Jonathan, Addison and Olivia of Richmond, Virginia; Eric Potts of Austin, Texas and great-grandchild Brady Ash Hatter of Brazoria, Texas; Cody Sprague of Angleton, Texas; Darren and Carolyn Wines of Lake Jackson, Texas. Jarrod and Susie Wines and great-grandchild Blake of Lake Jackson, Texas.
Lorene is survived by one dear sister and brother-in-law, Lou and Levis Wilkerson of DeLeon, Texas in addition to many nieces and nephews and their loved ones in the north central areas of the state. The last few months of Lorene's life were shared with her loving daughter Danice, who will always treasure this special time with her mother.
Lorene was born in Goldthwaite, Texas, on July 18, 1921, to Charles Maurice Waltrip and Fannie Belle (Moore) Waltrip, who were residents of Alvin, Texas, for many years. Lorene was the ninth child born to this wonderful marriage. Her sisters and brothers were Mildred Strube of Proctor, Texas; Elva Doherty of Mt. Calm, Texas; Iris Dickey of Red Oak, Texas; Louise (died as a child); Stanley Waltrip of Centrailia, Washington; Calvin Waltrip of Liverpool, Texas; and Maurice Waltrip, also of Liverpool, Texas.
There are many sweet and devoted friends of Lorene Tiller that should be mentioned. Special friends that were dear to her heart throughout the years. Friends that shared their love of Jesus and the daily blessings of friendship. There is not enough space to share all these names but some must be noted: Gladys Coleman (Lorene's telephone buddy), Ima Joyce Cunningham Morrow (always a sweet visitor), Virginia Wilson (helpful friend and shopping pal), Lee Roy and Bonnie Jurries (sweet and thoughtful friends), Sandy Green (sweet and thoughtful neighbor), Jimmie Don Poe (a caring friend and Kenneth Vernor (a minister that traveled in times of need), Lorene loved Elaine Vandergriff and other nurses and caregivers that attended her and who earnestly showed their concern for her needs.
Services will be held at the Lakewood Funeral Chapel in Clute, Texas on Monday, September 13, 1999 at 2 p.m. Burial will take place on the same grounds at Restwood Cemetery. Friends o Lorene may visit on Sunday, September 12, 1999 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the chapel.

Roland Higginbotham
Roland Higginbotham of Tyler, formerly of Tennessee Colony, Texas, died at 8 a.m. on Sept. 11, 1999 at Park Place Nursing Home in Tyler. Services will be on Monday, Sept. 13, 1999, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Lloyd James Funeral Home in Tyler. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tyler under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home. Bro. Robert Carter and Bro. Danny Burke of Colonial Hills Baptist Church will be officiating at the service.
Roland was born July 10, 1930, in Tyler, Smith County. He and his family later moved to Tennessee Colony, Texas. They lived there for 28 years. Upon retiring in 1996, he and his wife Joyce, moved back to Tyler in 1997.
While living in Tennessee Colony, he was a member of Southside Baptist Church, Kiwanis and the Cattleman's Association. He was manager/owner of East Texas Auto Supply in Palestine and a rancher in Tennessee Colony. Since moving to Tyler, he has been a member of Colonial Hills Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce; two sons and daughters-in-law, Roland Higginbotham, Jr. and Theresa of Tyler and Kenneth Lee Higginbotham and Kristy of West Columbia, Texas; five grandchildren, Courtney Gilbreath of Palestine, Amy Higginbotham and Natalie Smith of Tyler, Ashley Higginbotham and Westin Higginbotham of West Columbia; two great-grandchildren, Morgan Gilbreath of Palestine and Colton Smith of Tyler. Survivors also include three brothers and six sisters, James Higginbotham of Burleson, Charles Higginbotham of Tyler, Vernon Higginbotham of Timpson, Juanita Ward and Helen Chastain of Tyler, Dovia Lea Lamb of Irving, Edna Mullins of Fort Worth and Dorothy Lamb and Lillian Meriwether of Irving.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Owen and Dovia Higginbotham of Tyler; two brothers, J.W. Higginbotham and Nolan (Tiny) Higginbotham of Tyler. Also, two half-brothers, Robert Owen Higginbotham of Beaumont, and Willie Higginbotham of Longview; also, three nephews, Donald Wayne Lamb of Vernon, Texas, Charles Edwin Higginbotham and Mark Steven Higginbotham of Tyler; two nieces, Betty Kay Brewer of Athens and Kim Higginbotham of Tyler; and special friends, Tucker Farris, Walter Holland and Claude Poole of Palestine.
Nephews will be pallbearers: David Meriwether, Tommy Lamb, James Lloyd Ward, Mike Higginbotham, Nolan Higginbotham, Mark Higginbotham, Jr., Ricky Higginbotham and John Mark Higginbotham.
