MARY ANN COX
A Memorial Mass for Mary Ann Cox, 56, of Clute, will be at 10:00 am, Saturday, February 2, 2002 at St. Jerome’s Catholic Church in Clute.
Family will receive friends from 5:30 pm until 7:00 pm, Friday, February 1, 2002 in the hall at St. Jerome’s Catholic Church with a rosary at 7:00 pm.
She was born March 5, 1945 in Freeport to Erma and Otto Scott. She passed away January 30, 2002 at the Methodist Hospital in Houston, after a courageous battle with leukemia.
Mary Ann grew up in Clute, and graduated from Brazosport High School in 1963. Shortly after graduation, she married Darryl Cox and moved to Houston, where she lived until approximately five years ago, when she moved back to Clute. She was a member of the St. Jerome’s Catholic Church. She was a very active member of St. Vincent De Paul, taught RCIA, was a CCE teacher, member of the Catholic Daughters, was on the Parish council and a member of the Diocese chapter of the Campaign for Human Development. She loved her church and her church family very much.
She is preceded in death by her father, Otto Scott; brother, Bobby Scott; grandparents and niece, Karen Scott.
She is survived by her son, Robert & wife Dalene; mother, Erma Scott; granddaughters, Misty Cox and Rebecca Chatterton; two great grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Janie & Garland Guynes; brother and sister-in-law, Charles & Mildred Scott; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; her extended family, Catherine, Caitlynn and Conner and a “special” god daughter, Janae Ledet.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jacinto Hernandez, James Hinton, Landis Adams, Rigo Trevino, Pete and Eric Guillory.
It was Mary Ann’s wishes that any memorials be made to St. Vincent De Paul, St. Jerome’s Catholic Church, 107 N. Lazy Ln., Clute, Tx 77531.

Graveside service for Viva Lee Richter, 75, of Mansfield, will be held 12:00 noon, Saturday, February 2, 2002 at the La Marque Cemetery.
Ms. Richter was born December 27, 1926 in Texas City and passed away Monday, January 28, 2002 in Fort Worth. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her sons, Ernest Hilton, John Hilton, and Granville Hilton; daughters, Diana Flynn and Shirley Haskins; brother Johnny King; and 10 grandchildren.

CHARLIE J. PINCKARD
Charlie J. Pinckard, 75, of Lake Jackson, Texas, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2002, at his residence.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 1, 2002 at the Lakewood Funeral Chapel in Lake Jackson, Texas, with Rev. Jim Reiter of Chapelwood United Methodist Church of Lake Jackson officiating.

Charlie has been a Lake Jackson resident since 1983, a member of Chapelwood United Methodist Church of Lake Jackson, an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict, and retired from Freeport McMoran after 37 years of dedicated service as Plant Engineer.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Doris Pinckard of Lake Jackson; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Allen G. Pinckard & wife Pat of West Monroe, Louisiana; and sister, Mary Guyton of West Monroe, Louisiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Jett Pinckard; daughter, Gail Chauviere; and granddaughter, Christie Chauviere.

She died Sunday, January 27, 2002 at her residence.

She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church.

PURCELL "PERCY" GUESS, JR.
Purcell “Percy” Guess, Jr., 68, of Lake Jackson, Texas, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, January 30, 2002.
He was at home with his family.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 1, 2002 at First United Methodist Church of Lake Jackson with Rev. Dr. Bill Gandin officiating.

Percy was born May 14, 1933 in Rogers, Texas to Merle and Purcell Guess, Sr. He grew up in Temple, in the Texas hill country where he developed a life-long love of nature and animals. In 1951, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, went through Fleet Sonar School at San Diego, California for six months, and served aboard the USS Uhlmann in the South Pacific. He was Honorably discharged in 1955.
After being discharged, Percy came to Freeport, Texas, where he started to work for Dow Chemical Company. There he met Wilda Lee Walker, a school teacher from Ganado, Texas, and on June 29, 1957, they became man and wife. They moved to Lake Jackson in 1959 and began their family. He continued working at Dow until his retirement in 1986, having held the position of Senior Instrument Inspector in the construction department for 30 years.
Throughout his life, he enjoyed camping and traveling with his family, inspiring his sons with his love of nature. He also enjoyed singing Barbershop Music, a passion that continued after his retirement. He sang for many years with quartets and choruses in the Brazosport area, among them the Third Coast Four, the Brazosport Harmoneers and the Bay City Coastalaires.
He is survived by his wife, Wilda Lee Walker Guess of Lake Jackson; sons, Mark Alan Guess & wife Virginia of Lake Jackson and Kevin Dale Guess & wife Pay-Sung Chew of Houston; brother, Robert Guess of Temple; sister, Elta Faye Nunn of Danville, Virginia; and their children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

He was born Thursday, July 19, 1945 in Luling, Texas, and died Wednesday, January 30, 2002 in Sweeny, Texas.

Louise Greene Behrens
Funeral services for Louise Greene Behrens of Pasadena will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2002, at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel in Pasadena, Texas.
She was born on April 9, 1916, in Natchez, Miss., and passed away January 26, 2002, in Pasadena.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2002, at Colonial Funeral Home.
Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery.
Mrs. Louise Greene Behrens was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She had served as the recreation director for the city of Galena Park for many years. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Pasadena and active in the Young at Hearts Group.
She is survived by her husband, Karl Behrens, of Pasadena; brother, Charles Parkman, of Jackson, Miss.; her two daughters, Joye Lorentz and her husband, Dr. Jeffrey Lorentz, of Dickinson and Kaye Fulton and husband, Max Fulton, of Richwood; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Michael Fulton, Steve Perry, Barry Thompson, Jeremy Delaune, Gary Delaune, Dale Wortham and Timothy Delaune.

Emma Locke
Funeral services for Emma Locke, 89, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2002, at the Adams Funeral Home in Marlin, Texas, with Pastor Alan Struckmeyer, minister of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Temple officiating.
Burial will follow at the Calvary Cemetery in Marlin.
Emma passed away, Sunday, January 27, 2002, at Country Village Care in Angleton where she had resided the past three years. She was born at home on October 10, 1912, near Otto, Texas.
She attended a one-room schoolhouse near Otto. On July 17, 1928, she married Arthur Locke. Following her husband’s death in 1972 Emma moved to Angleton where she lived until 1991 when she moved to West Columbia.
She is survived by her two children: a daughter and her husband, Ruby and Loyd Blankemeier of Temple, a son and wife, Harold and Ann Locke of West Columbia; six grandchildren and their spouses: David and Vivian Blankemeier, Steven and Denise Blankemeier, Faye and James Morrow all of Temple, Jill and Richard Lorenz of Allen, Michael and Dee Locke of Sweeny, Linda and James Vacek of Lake Jackson; and 11 great grandchildren. Other grandchildren are, Clay Burns of West Columbia, Ty Burns of Houston, Kaylynn Burns of Webster and Guy Burns of San Francisco.
Pallbearers will be Michael Locke, James Vacek, David Blankemeier, Steven Blankemeier, James Morrow and Richard Lorenz.
