Graveside funeral services for Dorothy Louise Cross, of Brazoria, were held Monday, June 5, 2000 at the Bohr Family Cemetery in Gonzales County, with Rev. John Murdock officiating.
She died Saturday, June 3, 2000 in Clute.
Dorothy Cross was born on May 8, 1925 in East Columbia, Texas, to William Chester Cross and Onnie Jennette Hudgins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Vernon Clyde Cross; three sisters, Beulah Mae Broadway, Ola Faye Scherdin and Ula Ray Dewey.
She is survived by two sisters, Maxine Pearl Bohr and Virginia Ruth Ross, both of Brazoria.
Forrest Gene "Woody" Sommerlatte
Forrest Gene "Woody" Sommerlatte, 60, of Lake Jackson, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2000 at Methodist Hospital in Houston.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2000 at the Lakewood Funeral Chapel with Ron McDaniel officiating.
Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the chapel.
Woody was a Lake Jackson resident for 30 years, during which time, he worked for Lacks Furniture.
He is survived by his wife, Kay Sommerlatte; son, Scott Sommerlatte; and daughter, Janet Sommerlatte, all of Lake Jackson. He is also survived by sisters, Joyce Mudd and husband, Lee of Shreveport, Louisiana, and by Aimee Packard of Moscow, Idaho, and by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Aimee Sommerlatte, and by brothers, Ed and Eugene Sommerlatte; and by sister, Myrtle Sommerlatte.
Family request any charitable contributions be made in Woody's name to the American Heart Association.

Funeral services for Imogene Jo Nichols, 71, of Brazoria, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2000 at Baker Funeral Home Chapel - West Columbia with Dr. Frank Alegrie officiating.
She died Sunday, June 4, 2000 in Brazoria.
Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Haven of Rest, West Columbia.
Visitation will be held at Baker Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, June 6, 2000 between 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. in West Columbia.
Mrs. Nichols was born September 5, 1928 in Washita, Oklahoma. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Brazoria.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Guy H. and Elyza Jane Gordon; brother, J. W. Hudgins; sisters, Evelyn Foster and Wanda Dawson.
Survivors include her husband, W. L. "Nick" Nichols of Brazoria; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael Guy and Brenda Nichols of Brazoria, Randy Lane and Linda Nichols of Brazoria; daughter and son-in-law, Patsi and Kenneth Orsburn, Sr. of Prague, Oklahoma; brother, Guy Gordon, Jr. of Garland; sister, Betty Ann Ivie of Clute; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Lonnie Appelt, Charles Bailey, Robby Carpenter, Neil Clowers, Yogi Hagaman and Gerald Toler.

John Parry Lauzon
John Parry Lauzon, born August 20, 1904 to Francis Wiley and Corinne Margaret Lauzon of Mobile, Alabama, passed away June 4, 2000. His keen sense of humor, generous nature and loving spirit endeared him to both family and friends.
Parry was a long-time resident of Angleton, and member of Holy Comforter Episcopal Church. He was recently honored by the Grand Lodge of Texas for his seventy-five years of service to the Masons. Along with his wife, Ruth, he owned and operated Lauzon Hardware from 1947, until their retirement in 1977.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Marie Reil, Corinne Maverick and Elizabeth Herring; and his brothers, Wiley, Jr., Edward and Eusebe.
He is survived by Ruth Stanger Lauzon, his wife of 63 years; his son, John Parry Lauzon, Jr. and his wife, Sydney, of Houston; his daughter, Ruth Ann Lostracco, and her husband, Joe, of Austin; and grandchildren, Ruth Inez Lauzon, Anna Cecile Lauzon, Anthony Martin Lostracco and Margaret Ann Lostracco.
Services will be held at Holy Comforter Episcopal Church, 227 South Chenango, Angleton, Texas at 2 p.m., Tuesday, June 6, 2000. Interment will follow in the Angleton Cemetery.

William Alfred "Dick" Doolen, 83, of Lake Jackson, and formerly of Sweeny, died Saturday, June 3, 2000. Funeral services are set for Tuesday, June 6, 2000 at 4 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Sweeny, with Dale Lee officiating. Burial will be in the Sweeny Cemetery.
William Alfred "Dick" Doolen was born June 30, 1916 in Navarro, Texas. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sweeny. He is survived by his wife, Mary Virginia Doolen, of Lake Jackson, daughter, Marilyn Schroeder, and her husband, Robert, of Sweeny, brother, James Doolen, of Corsicana, granddaughter, Tracy Roberts, of Lake Jackson, and adopted granddaughter, Chiffvon Thomas, of West Columbia, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers will be Walter T. Helton, Larry Piper, Milton Joice, Bobby Brown, Charlie Crouch and James Howard.

Bobby C. "Cotton" Hodges, 72, of West Columbia, passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2000 in West Columbia. Funeral services will be held at the Baker Funeral Home Chapel in West Columbia at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 3, 2000 with Edward Frankum and Rev. Dave Barclay officiating.
Interment will be at the Columbia Cemetery in West Columbia, TX.
He was very active as a Varner-Hogg Plantation volunteer and received many special awards. He was also very active in West Columbia Little League baseball when his sons were young. His family was his greatest joy. He will be greatly by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by parents Robert and Bill Hodges and his daughter Patti Denise Hodges.
He is survived by wife Betty J. Hodges of West Columbia; sons Berry Lee Hodges and fiancee Cecilia Leach of Baytown, Gregory Hodges and wife Rhonda of Needville, and Larry Hodges and wife Lisa of Rosharon; sister Annie May Wallis of West Columbia; brothers Dean Hodges of Angleton and Billy Ray Hodges of Sante Fe; eight grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

James Coleman Lancaster
J.C. was born on October 1, 1930, in Stevens, Arkansas. He passed away on his birthday, October 1, 2000, in Lake Jackson.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1948-1952, and was stationed in Korea, during part of that time. He married his wife, Sharline Beasley Lancaster on May 16, 1953 and they moved to Lake Jackson, in 1957. J.C. worked as a machinist for Dow Chemical from 1957-1972. He was founder, president, and owner of Brazosport Protection Systems, Inc., and Brazosport Locksmith Company. He served 8 years as a Brazoria County Constable, was Sergeant-at-Arms of the Brazosport Rotary Club, was a member and served on the television ministry at First Baptist Church of Lake Jackson, and was a member of the Business Round Table in Lake Jackson. He was instrumental in starting the Boys Club in Freeport while a member of the Lake Jackson Optimist Club.
Coleman is survived by his wife, Sharline Beasley Lancaster of Lake Jackson; his daughter, Cynthia Roye and husband, Smokey Roye of Lake Jackson; two grandchildren, Ryan and Carly Roye; sisters, Betty Woodhead and husband, Bob of Sterlington, Louisiana, and Kay Sistrunk and husband, Jimmy of Beakman, Louisiana; brothers-in-law, Les Beasley and Jerald Beasley; sister-in-law, Ruby Lawson and Darline Kelly; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be officiated by Dr. John Hatch, pastor of First Baptist Church of Lake Jackson, at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 4, 2000. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Lakewood Funeral Chapel and with interment at Restwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Coursey, Frank Drabek, Jr., Vernon G. Groves, Sam Willson, Larry Willson and Dink Jeffers.

James Edward Schaade
James Edward, 76, of Angleton, passed away Monday, October 2, 2000 in Angleton. Memorial services are set for 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 4, 2000 at St. John Lutheran Church in Angleton.
James Edward Schaade was born November 24, 1923 in Blue Island, Illinois. He was a First Lieutenant in the 13th "Jungle" Air Force Squadron where he was highly decorated for his missions flown in the Pacific theater. He had lived in Angleton, since 1951 and was a retired Instrument Technician for Phillips Petroleum Co. He and his wife, Bertha are Charter Members of St. John Lutheran Church. Jim, Dad, our "Paw-Paw" was an inspiration to all he met with his caring sense for other's needs. He used the gifts that God had given him to help others in ways that purposely never drew attention to himself. He shared wisdom, love, encouragement and compassion with his family and many friends. He enjoyed listening to the stories of family and friends, watching and feeding the birds and held a "passion" for the great game of baseball. "Mr. Jim" always had time for children and loved being a part of their lives. He will be greatly missed!
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Edward F. and Elsie Schaade.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Bertha Schaade; sons, George E. Schaade and wife, Cathy of Lufkin, Kim K. Schaade and wife, Lana of Burleson; grandchildren, Carrie, Elizabeth, and Kelly Schaade of Burleson; sisters, Shirley Schaade of Chicago, Illinois, Betty Blew of Tinley Park, Illinois; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Spencer passed away Friday, September 29, 2000 in Angleton.
Lillian Shade Spencer was born April 6, 1920 in Los Angeles, California, to Nevis Ross and Laura Stalder Shade.
She is survived by her husband, John R. Spencer of Lake Jackson; children, Stuart Spencer of Cypress, Laurie Poland of Angleton, and John A. Spencer of Lake Jackson; brothers, Ross Shade of Chino, California, Lee Shade of Virginia; and seven grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Travis Spencer, Tyler Spencer, Michael Spencer, Kevin Poland, Stuart Spencer, John Spencer and John Poland.

Funeral services for Stephen Craig Bryant, 31, of Brazoria, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 4, 2000 at First Baptist Church, corner 521 and Hwy 36, Brazoria with Supt. Albert Jackson officiating.
He died Friday, September 29, 2000 at Brazosport Memorial Hospital.
Burial will be at St. Paul Cemetery in Brazoria.

Mr. Bryant was born March 18, 1969 and was a member of Old Fashion Church of God In Christ.
He was preceded in death by his brother, James Reginald Bryant.
Survivors include his father, Procter Bryant and mother, Macrendy Bryant, both of Brazoria; daughter, Jade Dior Barnes of Lake Jackson; sisters, Delena Faye Ferneil of Clute and Tonja Bryant of Houston.
