Joe Price, 91, of Cuero, died Sunday, June 24, 2001.
He was born February 1, 1910 in DeWitt County to the late Charlie and Pearlie Liaz Price. He worked as a Rancher in Agriculture. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.
Survivors: daughters, Lillian Thompson and Mary Price both of Houston; sons, Stanley Price and Joe Price, both of Yoakum; sister, Otelia Washington of San Antonio; 18 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: parents; wife, Arrie Lewis Price; and brother, Otis Price.
Visitation is Thursday, June 28, from 7-8 p.m. at Freund Funeral Chapel. Funeral Services are Friday, June 29 at 11 a.m. at L. E. Meador Encampment Ground with the Rev. Chester Polk officiating. Burial will be in Pleasantville Cemetery, DeWitt County. Freund Funeral Home, Cuero, 361-275-2343.
Linda Ralls Moore
Linda Ralls Moore, 57, of Thomaston, died Friday, June 22, 2001.
She was born April 15, 1944, in Victoria, to Lillian Mueller Ralls of Thomaston and the late O.T. Ralls. She was a bookkeeper at South Texas Electric for 23 years and a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
She was a member of the Guadalupe Victoria Chapter DAR, the James W. Fannin Chapter DRT and the Cuero VFW Auxiliary.
Survivors: daughter, Rebecca Moore Carroll of Atlanta, Ga.; son, Paul Moore of Richwood; mother, Lillian Reinecke; and one grandchild.
Preceded in death by: father.
Visitation will be 3 to 5 p.m. today at Rosewood Funeral Chapels.
Services were Monday at Zion Lutheran Church in Mission Valley, the Rev. Paul Muehlbrad officiated.
Burial will be at Mission Valley Cemetery. Rosewood Funeral Chapels, Victoria, 573-4546.

Georgie H. Williams
Georgie H. Williams, 81, of Yorktown, passed away Monday, June 25, 2001.
She was born February 22, 1920, in Nordheim, to the late Robert Heldt and Alwina Borchers Heldt. She was a retired retail salesperson and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Survivors: daughter, Yvonne Presswood of Yorktown; son, Clinton Williams of New Braunfels; sisters, Marilyn Korth of Cuero, Frances Gates of Del Rio, and Violet Gohlke of Cuero; brother, Eddie Heldt of Weesatche; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: parents; sisters, Elvera F. Heldt and June Nell Borth; brothers, Robert E. Heldt, Roland Heldt, and Arnold Heldt.
Visitation was Tuesday at Lamprecht-Janssen Chapel. Services will be held Wednesday, June 27, at Lamprecht-Janssen Chapel, the Rev. Patti Luebben officiating. Burial will follow the services at Nordheim Cemetery.

Edwin Nagel
Edwin H. Nagel, 95, of Cuero, died Tuesday, July 24, 2001.
He was born January 26, 1906, in Waco to H.W. and Annie Mae Thomas Nagel. Edwin established the Nagel Dairy in Cuero and then moved the dairy to Arneckeville in 1949 where he and his son, Charles, continued in the dairy business until 1994. He served on the Arneckeville School Board and was a member of the original Cuero Livestock Show Board serving from the early 50's until 1983. The 2000 Cuero Livestock Show was dedicated to him. He was a 4-H leader and honorary 4-H member, an honorary FFA member and in 1997 was awarded the Pioneer Farmer of the Year by the DeWitt County Farm Bureau. He was a long-time member of the Arneckeville Community Center and St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Cuero.
Survived by his wife of 64 years, Edna Krueger Nagel; son, Charles and wife, Jean Nagel of Arneckeville and daughter, Sandra and husband, Kenneth Machen of League City. Also survived by grandchildren, Scott and Melissa Benfield; Jeff and Katy Nagel; Greg Nagel; Ann and Jim Pratt; David, Dan and Doug Machen; and Denise and Robert Laffey. His great-grandchildren are Will, Molly and Jenny Nagel, Samuel Pratt and Shannon Laffey.
He was preceded in death by daughter, Kathleen Benfield; brother, Albert Nagel; and sisters, LuElsie Jones, Melba Neill, Lillian George and Anne Benton.
Services were Thursday, July 26, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, the Rev. Steve Byrne officiated. Burial was at Hillside Cemetery under the direction of Freund Funeral Home, Cuero, 361-275-2343.
Serving as pallbearers are Scott Benfield, Jeff Nagel, Greg Nagel, Will Nagel, Jim Pratt, David Machen, Dan Machen, Doug Machen and Robert Laffey.

Gary Lawrence McNary
Gary Lawrence McNary, 42, of Austin, died Saturday, July 21, 2001.
He was born November 5, 1958 in Cuero to Willie Lawrence Williams and Myrtle Ruth McNary Perry, both of Corpus Christi. He worked at Auto Parts Industry. He was a Baptist.
He is survived by wife, Vickie L. Bishop McNary, of Austin; parents; step-daughter, Resheena L. Bishop, of Austin; step-son, Maurice Lavence Bishop, of Austin; sister, Shawn McNary, of Corpus Christi; brothers, Ron McNary, of Corpus Christi, and Daryl McNary, of Houston.
Services were Saturday at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church in Cuero, the Rev. Dwayne Belvin officiated. Burial took place at Thomaston Cemetery. Jamison Funeral Home of Yoakum took care of arrangements, 361-293-3121.

Willis Breeden Sheppard
Willis Breeden Sheppard, 16, of Victoria, and formerly of Cuero, died Saturday, July 28, 2001.
He was born November 6, 1984 in Cuero to Henry F. and Rachel Newsom Sheppard, of Victoria. He was a Memorial High School Student. He was a member and an Acolyte at St. Francis Church.
He is survived by: parents; brother, Justin Sheppard of Victoria; paternal grandparents, Henry F. Sheppard, Sr. and Jean Ann Friar Sheppard of Cuero; maternal grandparents, James and Donna Barfield Newsom of Palacios; maternal great-grandmother, Mabel Newsom of Pearsall.
Visitation was Monday at St. Francis Parish Hall. Funeral Services were Tuesday at Trinity Episcopal Church in Victoria, Rev. Jonathan Folts officiated. Burial was at Hillside Cemetery in Cuero. Freund Funeral Home took care of the arrangements, 361-275-2343.

Herbert F. Owen
Herbert F. Owen, 55, of Cuero, died Tuesday, July 24, 2001.
He was born Oct. 28, 1945, in Chicago, Ill., to the late Aldrige John and Lois Marie McCullough Owen. He was a truck driver at Energy Waste and a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Cuero Volunteer Fire Dept. and EMS. He was a Scoutmaster in Hallettsville.
Survivors: wife, Petra C. Owen; daughter, Sherry Owen of Victoria; and three grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: son, John Aldrige Owen; parents.

Albert Hammack
Albert "Cliff" Hammack, 78, of Thomaston, died Tuesday, July 24, 2001.
He was born Jan. 20, 1923, in Houston, to the late Albert C. and Charlyce Lee Marshall Hammack. He was a truck driver at Petrochemical and a member of Northgate Church of God. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving overseas in World War II.
Survivors: wife, Hazel Phillips Hammack; daughters, Alice Jean Chomout of Yoakum and Shelia Ann Dawes of Alvin; sons, Willard Salles and Dwayne Salles, both of Thomaston, Ricky Dale Salles of Victoria, Eric Salles of Yorktown, Dennis Hammack of Mathis and Jim Wayne Hammack of Honda; sisters, Margie Linville of Bloomington and Ruth Johnson of Houston; brother, Jessie Hammack of Victoria; and 19 grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: son, "Butch" Hammack; parents; and brother, Robert E. "Tex" Hammack.

Elsa Atzenhoffer Berger
Elsa Atzenhoffer Berger, 56, of Victoria, Texas died July 24, 2001 from a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born in Yorktown, Texas on January 8, 1945, to the late Otto Atzenhoffer and Amanda Miller.
Elsa was a dedicated wife, beloved mother, wonderful MeMaw to her four grandchildren and friend to many. She was an employee at JoAnn Fabrics for 13 years until her illness caused her to stay at home. Sewing was a lifetime hobby that she filled by making clothes for her grandchildren. She was also a volunteer at the American Cancer Society for three years with the Reach to Recovery Program.
She is preceded in death by her parents Otto Atzenhoffer and Amanda Miller.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Berger (Big Red); Children and their spouses, Gary and Jennifer Berger, and Lindsey and Pam Ficklen. Grandchildren, Alexis and Cheyenne Berger, Amanda Denson, and Justin Ficklen.
Pallbearers: Betty Mettke, Carrie Reiman, Irene Heinold, Janice Jack, Marion Ressman, and Elaine Thurman.
Honorary pallbearers: her beloved grandchildren, Alexis Berger, Amanda Denson, Cheyenne Berger, and Justin Ficklen, very much loved by their MeMaw.
Funeral services were Thursday, July 26, 2001 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Victoria, the Pastor John Waak officiated. Burial followed in Memorial Park Cemetery in Victoria.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Saviour's Lutheran Church Building Fund or the American Cancer Society Victoria Chapter.
