She was born September 2, 1918, in Nordheim, to the late Henry and Martha Belitz Harms. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Nordheim.
Survivors: daughter, Shirley Davis of San Antonio; son, Wilfred Baumann of Houston; sisters, Anita Stroeble and Alvina Stroeble, both of Michigan; brother, Henry Harms of Floresville; and one grandchild.

Pasquel Hernandez, 68, of Cuero, died Saturday, March 30, 2002.
He was born May 17, 1933 in Cuero to the late Guillermo and Guillerma Cantu Hernandez. He worked as a truck driver for a feed store. He was a member of Our Lady Guadalupe Catholic Church.
He is survived by: daughters, Guillerma Hernandez and Estella Esquivel, both of Cuero, and Irene Flores of Brownfield; sons, Pascual Hernandez, Jr. of Brownfield and Pedro Hernandez of Cuero; brother, Justo Hernandez, of Cuero; fourteen grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by: parents; sisters, Benita Flores and Catherine Longoria; and brothers, Amador Hernandez, Theodore Hernandez, and Leonides Hernandez.

Gary Wayne Dueser, 54, of Yorktown, died Saturday, March 30, 2002.
He was born March 9, 1948, in Yorktown, to the late Henry and Alvera Borgfeld Dueser. He was a route salesman for Buttercrust Bread and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Survivors: wife, Karen Gohmert Dueser; sons, Cary Dueser and Wade Dueser, both of Yorktown; sister, Ruth Newman of Nordheim; brother, James Dueser of Yorktown; and one grandchild.

Jimmie Reiffert
Jimmie Reiffert, 87, of Cuero, died Saturday, March 30, 2002.
He was born June 18, 1914, in Cuero, to the late Walter and Anna Mugge Reiffert. He worked for Freund Funeral Home for 28 years. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and 8 years on the Cuero City Council. He was past director of the Cuero Community Hospital Board, treasurer for the DeWitt County Republican Party and memorial chairman for American Cancer Society. He owned a service station. He was a member of Cuero Chamber of Commerce, Fireman's Auxiliary, AARP and Grace Episcopal Church, where he also served as senior warden.
Survivors: daughter, Ann Lynn Reiffert Fenner of Houston; son, James M. Reiffert Jr. of San Antonio; and two grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: wife, Kathryn Casal Reiffert; parents; sister, Mildred R. McClanahan; and brothers, Walter Reiffert Jr. and Ralph F. Reiffert.

John "Papa John" Norvell Blackwell, Sr.
John "Papa John" Norvell Blackwell Sr., 66, of Cuero, entered into the gates of heaven on May 23, 2002. Papa John was a loving, caring man, who had love for everyone he knew.
He was born May 24, 1935 in Cuero to the late Raleigh White Sr. And Velma Celeste Norvell Blackwell. Throughout his life, he had been a rancher, an insurance salesman, and an oilfield salesman. He was co-owner of Blackwell Services, Salesman for National Motor Club and a salesman for Q-V Services. He owned a Quarter Horse Ranch which he took great pride in. He married Judy Ellen St. Clair on June 21., 1968 in Corpus Christi. Judy and John moved to Cuero in June of 1969. This is where they made a family and resided for the past thirty three years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cuero. He was also a member of the American Quarterhorse Association, and the American Paint Horse Association.
He is survived by his wife, Judy, children: sons, Randy Henry and wife Cindy, Johnny Blackwell Jr. and wife Kelly, and his daughters; Beverly Blanch Kuecker and husband Jimmy, and Allison Celeste Brown and husband Todd, all of Cuero; grandchildren, Brooke Brown, Kyle and Sara Kuecker, Clay and Kyle Henry, Colton and Chase Blackwell, Kristen, Erin, and Jennifer Brown, and one great-grandchild, Brealyn Brown. Sisters, Ann Laster of Gonzales, Sally Guess of San Antonio, Sue Stiles of Cuero, and Merilyn Nance of Allen. Brothers, Claude N. Blackwell Sr. of Carthage, Raleigh Blackwell Jr. of East Bernard, Willis Blackwell of Center, and Bob Kleinecke of Cuero.
He is preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Audrey Barfield Blackwell; sisters, Bobby Jane Blackwell and Marsha L. Meador.
