Norma "Dee' Deal, 74, of Yorktown, died Sunday, May 19, 2002.
She was born May 5, 1928, in Aniston, Ala., to the late Thomas E. and Elaine Waters Sparks. She was a retired secretary and a member of Yorktown Methodist Church. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and was founder of Yorktown Assistance Ministries Services.
Survivors: husband, Jacob "Red" Deal; daughters, Rebecca VanCleve of New Braunfels and Teena Rose McGinnis of Corpus Christi; son, James Robert Deal of Yorktown; sister, Joyce Wright of Corpus Christi; brother, Major Gerald Sparks, USAF-Vet. of Runge; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Preceded in death by: daughter, Angel Deal; sisters, Rose Higgs and Ena Lay; brother, Burt Monroe Sparks, USN; and parents.

Dorothy S. Marie
Dorothy S. Marie, 98, of Cuero, died Tuesday, May 21, 2002.
She was born July 6, 1903, in Germany, to the late William F. and Marie Stephan Schreckenbach. She was a sales clerk for Ferguson 5-10 Cent Store and Anders Auto Supply. She worked as a sitter at the Bohman Hospital and was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church.
Survivors: daughter, Elnora Davis of San Antonio; son, William H. Marie Jr. of San Antonio; granddaughter Patricia Ferguson and her husband, Ed Ferguson; and great-grandsons, David and Phillip Ferguson.
Preceded in death by: husband, William H. Marie; three sisters; two brothers; grandson, Orran Norman Davis; and parents.
Visitation was Wednesday, May 22 at Freund Funeral Home chapel in Cuero. Services were Thursday at the funeral home chapel, the Rev. Steve Byrne officiated. Burial was at Memory Gardens, Cuero. Freund Funeral Home, Cuero, 361-275-2343.

Lillie B. Packard
Lillie B. Packard, known to her friends and family as Bobbie, passed away at her home, Air Force Village I, on May 6 2002.
Bobbie was born March 19, 1921 to Lena K. and James D. Young in Cuero. Bobbie graduated from Cuero High School in 1938. She attended school in Austin until 1940 at which time she moved to San Antonio to work at Kelly Field as a secretary in the Supply Office. While at Kelly she organized the Kelly Civilian Girls Corps, which held dances for service men passing through Kelly Field (then known as Duncan Field) en route to service duty in World War II. In 1943 she married Col. Walter B. Packard USAF, who predeceased Bobbie on June 17, 1992. Bobbie was very active in various Air Force Officers Wives Clubs with the major aim of supporting many charitable causes. Her quick wit and great sense of humor will be missed by all who knew her.
Mrs. Packard is survived by her son, Lt. Col. Barry R. Packard USAF (ret) of Niceville, FL; grandson, Lt. Comdr. Mark R. Packard USN of Corpus Christi; granddaughter, Kathryn B. Packard of Clear Lake City; great-granddaughter, Julie L. Salarvand of Clear Lake City; sister, Mary Lynn Harr of Austin; and brother-in-law, Howard F. Packard of Minneapolis, MN.
She had been residing at Air Force Village I since July 1985. Visitation was Monday, May 20, at Porter Loring. Memorial Services were Tuesday at Air Force Village.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations de made to the Air Force Village I, Health Care Center, 4917 Ravenswood Drive, San Antonio, Texas 78227.
Arrangements were with Porter Loring Mortuary.
Howard Anderson Kurc
Howard Anderson Kurc, 65, of Houston and Cuero, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2002.
He was born in Port Arthur on MAy 24, 1937 to the late George and Marie Anderson Kurc. He was an architect.
He is survived by daughter, Deborah Rasberry of Houston; son, John Kurc of South Carolina; and five grandchildren.
He is proceeded in death by son, Craig Kurc, and his parents.

Jesse Ray Tucker
Jesse Ray Tucker, 68, of Cuero, passed away Friday, May 24, 2002.
He was born in Myra on February 1, 1934 to the late Carl “Bud” and Audrey Tucker. He was a tool pusher for Petro-Chemical.
He is survived by his wife, Kay Walker Tucker; daughters, Michelle Lawler and LaVonne Cox, both of San Angelo, Stephanie Abbott of Cuero, Deborah Hill of Big Lake, Vicki Cunningham of Midland; sons, Steve E. Walker of Port Aransas and Wesley Wester of San Angelo; sister, Lucille Edmonds of Amhurst; brothers, Jerry Tucker and Charles Tucker, both of Gainesville; and fourteen grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James Tucker.

Karla Gene Parker
Karla Gene Parker, 42, of Victoria, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2002.
She was born August 14, 1959 in Decatur, Georgia to Eugene H. and Frances Spalding Lessen. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her parents, Eugene H. and Frances Spalding Lessen of Richardson; sons, Kristopher Shawn Parker and Kyle Louis Parker, both of Victoria; sisters, Lisa Gwyn Schultheis of Tulsa, OK, Carolyn Simma of Dallas, and Sarah Lessen of Spokan, WA; and brother, Hank Lessen of Cincinnati, OH.

Jenna Dale Kaiser, 17, of Yorktown, died Tuesday, October 8, 2002.
She was born June 26, 1985, in Victoria, to James and Bonnie Borth Kaiser of Yorktown. She was a senior at Yorktown High School, participating in the Student Bank Board and the golf team. She attended classes at Victoria College.
Survivors: parents; sister, Brianne Kaiser of Yorktown; and grandparents, Warner and Anna Borth and Clarisse Kaiser, all of Yorktown.
Preceded in death by: sister, Baby Kaiser; grandfather, Roland Kaiser; and great-grandparents, Werner and Alfreda Sinast, Otto and Johanna Kaiser, and Joe and Matilda Zaiontz.

Walter S. Quimby Sr.
Walter Stevenson Quimby Sr., 81, of Yorktown, formerly of Nixon, died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2002.
He was born April 15, 1921, in Bellingham, Wash., to the late Fred and Frances Esther Walter Quimby. He was an administrative supervisor. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion in Yorktown and of the VFW in Runge.
Survivors: daughters, Martha Sue Weifenbach of Yorktown; Marilyn Newman of Oklahoma City and Flora "Kate" Staton of Corpus Christi; son, Walter S. Quimby Jr., of Edna; sister, Mary Sutherland of Seattle; brothers, Cecil Quimby of Everett, Wash., Louis Quimby of Tacoma, Wash. and Charles Quimby of Enumclaw, Wash.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Ethel Evans, 79, of Yorktown, formerly of Yoakum, died Tuesday, October 8, 2002.

Theresa Pauline Elliot, 88, of Cuero, died Tuesday, October 8, 2002.
She was born November 19, 1913, in Llano, to the late James L. J. and Musie Etta Leverett Cox. She was a homemaker.
Survivors: nephew, Glynn Carter of Cuero; great-niece, Glynda Schulle of Cuero; and great-nephew, Charles Carter of Georgetown.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Elliot; parents; and sister, Alice Carter.

Janis J'Nell Jenkins, 45, of Cuero, died Wednesday, October 9, 2002.
She was born June 29, 1957 in Cuero to the late Willie and Vera Lee Campbell Bowles. She was a grocery cashier at H. E. B. Grocery and a member of Quinn Chapel I. M. E.
She is survived by her husband, Eugene Jenkins of Cuero; daughters, Crystal Edwards and Elizabeth Nicole Jenkins, both of Cuero; son, Ronald Jenkins of Cuero; sister, Jacquelyn Taylor, of Cuero; brothers, Edward Bowles and Shelton Bowles, both of Cuero; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
