Carl Clendennen
Carl Clendennen, 66, of Cuero, died Saturday, February 1, 2003.
He was born September 2, 1936, in Lytton, to the late Thomas Eugene and Eula Mae McCandles Clendennen. He was a member of Trinity Church in Cuero.
Survivors: son, Lawrence E. Clendennen of Cuero; sister, Ethel Orchard of Hallettsville; and brothers, the Rev. B. H. Clendennen of Beaumont and Lee Clendennen of Spring.
Preceded in death by: parents; sister, Alzora Dillard; and brothers, John Clendennen and Thomas Clendennen.
Visitation was Monday, February 3 at Trinity Church in Cuero. Services were Monday at the church, Rev. Les Crawford officiated. Burial was at Hillside Cemetery in Cuero. Kubena Funeral Home, Hallettsville, 361-798-3271.

Martin H. Leske Sr.
Martin H. "Shotsie" Leske Sr., 85, of Cuero, died Sunday, February 2, 2003.
He was born November 13, 1917 in Cuero to the late Rudolph and Katherine Bingston Leske. He was the owner of M. H. leske Oil Co. and Service Station for 56 years. He was a member of the TPA, the Texas Oil Marketing Association, and the Church of Christ in Yoakum, where he served as treasurer. He was also a Little League sponsor and a rancher.
He is survived by wife Marguerite Tucker Leske of Cuero; daughter, Sandra Marie of Cuero; son, Martin H. Leske Jr. of Cuero; sister, Dorothy Luttes of Cuero; brother, W. R. “Bill” Leske Sr. of Cuero; 5 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents; sisters, Lillian Hagedorn, Julia Cooper, and Ethel Niske; and brother, Arthur “Bud” Leske Sr.
Visitation was Tuesday, February 4 at Freund Funeral home Chapel in Cuero. Funeral services are Wednesday, February 5 at 2 p.m. at the Cuero Church of Christ, with Mr. Terry Starling officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Cuero. Freund Funeral Home, Cuero, 361-275-2343.

Donald Cunningham
Donald Cunningham, 78, of Cuero, died Sunday, February 2, 2003.
He was born on December 5, 1924 in Thomaston to the late Hayes and Ruby Bryant Cunningham. He served in the U. S. Navy and was a member of Cuero VFW Post 3972. He was a shipping clerk for Groce Wearden.
He is survived by wife, Ruby Cunningham of Cuero; sisters, Gloria Cunningham and Carla Franklin, both of Victoria, and Jackie Cunningham and Elaine Cunningham, both of Cuero; brothers, Donald Cunningham and Ricky Cunningham, both of Cuero; sister, Elizabeth Haynes of San Antonio; 15 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

MSgt. Larry G. Zacharias, USAF
MSgt. Larry G. Zacharias, USAF - Retired, our beloved husband and father, age 55, died Monday, January 20, 2003.
He was born in Yoakum on February 24, 1947 to the late Elo William and Madeline Valasta Hirsch Zacharias. He grew up in Cuero and graduated from school in Cuero.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Gloria Zacharias; children, Lisa Ann Leal, Dennie Michael Zacharias and wife Cecilia, Linda Kay Hernandez, and Candace O’Dess Zacharias; 10 grandchildren; sister Shirleen Zacharias; and brother, Harlan Ray Zacharias.
Visitation was held Thursday, January 23 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North, 3401 Cherry Ridge Dr. in San Antonio. Funeral services were held Friday, January 24 at the funeral home with Deacon Fred Campos officiating. Interment with military honors followed at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. Bradley K. Brown
Bradley Kyle Brown, 18, of Corpus Christi, formerly of Cuero, died Monday, March 24, 2003.
He was born on July 24, 1984 in Victoria to Virgil L. and Paula E. Gebauer Brown of Cuero. He graduated from Cuero High School in May of 2002. He was a member of the Texas Youth Hunters Association, the Gulf Coast Chapter of the Coastal Conservation Association, and St. Mark’s Lutheran Church of Cuero. He worked as a processor at Sam Kane Beef Producers, Inc.
He is survived by his parents; sister, Haley R. Brown of Cuero; and maternal grandparents, Paul and Jessie Gebauer of Cuero.
He was preceded in death his paternal grandparents, Curtis and Robbie Nell Brown.

Dovie L. Kuchler
Dovie L. Kuchler, 91, of Cuero, passed away on March 28, 2003.
She was born in Italy, Texas, on December 29, 1911 to the late William R. and Sarah Lee Barfield Sanders. She was a homemaker and a member of the Assembly of God.
She is survived by her daughters, Darlene Robertson of Cuero and Nell Crump of Cuero; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Robert Lee Kuchler.

Cynthia Lynn Waggoner Koenig
Cynthia Lynn Waggoner Koenig, daughter-in-law of Louis and Beryl Koenig of Cuero, died March 20, 2003 at M. D. Anderson Hospital in Houston.
She was born January 28, 1963. She was a 1985 graduate of UCLA, and worked for American Airlines for 9 years.
She is survived by her husband, David Koenig; son, Austin; daughter, Kelly; parents, Captain and Mrs. Donald Waggoner, USN, Ret. of San Diego, California; brother, David Waggoner of Albany, New York; sister, Beth Rogers of San Francisco, California; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held on Friday, March 28 at Bear Creek Methodist Church in Houston, where she was a very active member.
Pete J. Polasek
Pete J. Polasek, 87, of Yoakum, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2003.
He was born in Lavaca County on April 16, 1915 to the late Peter and Angelina Rajnoch Polasek. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He was an oilfield worker, a rancher, and he worked for DeWitt County Precinct 2.
He is survived by daughters, Kathy Lauer and husband Gary of Yoakum and Barbara Langhoff and husband Freddie of Cuero; sisters, Helen Kresta Kaiser of Victoria; Filomena Chumchal of Shiner; and Alice Novasod of Hallettsville; grandchildren, Lacey Lauer, Wade Lauer, Darryll Langhoff, and Tracy Langhoff; and great-grandchildren, Taren Langhoff, Drew Langhoff, Devin Langhoff, Brandy Langhoff, and Johnnie Langhoff.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Barre Polasek; his special devoted friend, Julia Carroll of Cuero; parents; sister, Julie Pesek; and brothers, Charlie Polasek, Ludie Polasek, Richard Polasek, and William Polasek.
Services were Friday, March 28 at Buffington Funeral Home Chapel in Yoakum, Rev. Ellis Epps officiated. Burial was at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Buffington Funeral Home, Yoakum, 361-293-2333.

Iva Blohm
Iva Blohm, 93, of Houston, and formerly of Yorktown, died Sunday, March 30, 2003.
She was born October 11, 1909, in Nordheim, to the late T. J. and Frieda Haynes. She was a teacher in Yorktown and Corpus Christi, retiring after 45 years of service. She was a Lutheran.
Survivors: many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by: husband, Herbert Blohm; parents; sisters, Eva Schastag, Mary Box, Byrdie Many, and Lillie Neuman; and brothers, Carl Haynes and T. J. "Doc" Haynes.
