Joyce M. Sullivan, 64, of Yoakum, died Friday, July 16, 2004.
She was born Oct. 17, 1939, in Corpus Christi, to the late Travis and Ella Marie Schultz Doughty. She was a beautician and a Baptist.
Survivors: husband, Floyd T. Sullivan Jr. of Sweet Home; daughter, Monica Sullivan of Yoakum; sons, Alex Sullivan of Victoria, Keith Sullivan of Bay City, and Floyd Sullivan III of Ratcliff; sister, Irene Burch of Victoria; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Preceded in death by: daughter, Pamela Denise Sullivan.

Maria G. Villa
Maria Guadalupe Villa, 74, of Yorktown, died Monday, July 12, 2004.
She was born Dec. 29, 1929, in Corpus Christi, to the late Juan and Margarita Ramires Guzman. She was a nurse’s aide and a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church.
Survivors: husband, John Villa of Yorktown; sister, Olivia Garcia of Lamesa; half-sisters, Olivia Guerra of Moody, Soveida Vela of Brownfield, and Julia Guzman of Temple; half-brother, Simon Guzman of Moody; and friend, Armando Bryand of Bryan.
Preceded in death by: parents, Juan and Margarita Ramires Guzman; infant daughter, Rosita Villa; infant twin sisters; half-brothers, Juan Guzman Jr. and Raul Ramires.

Ella L. Kerlick
Ella Lee Kerlick, 86, of Yorktown, died Monday, July 5, 2004.
She was born Nov. 29, 1917, in DeWitt County, to the late Fred and Therese Gohlke Menn. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Survivors: daughters, Martha Geffert of Yorktown and Beverly Bruns of Victoria; sons, Clark Kerlick and Morris Kerlick, both of Yorktown; sister, Evangeline Menn of Runge; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: husband, Herman Kerlick.
A prayer service was held Wednesday, June 7 at Lamprecht-Janssen Funeral Home Chapel. Services were Thursday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, the Rev. Patti Byrne officiated. Burial was at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. Lamprecht-Janssen Funeral Home, Yorktown, 361-564-2277.

Kathleen Dixon
Services for Kathleen Dixon, 91, of Lufkin, were held Monday, July 12 at Calvary Baptist Church, Rev. Jimmy Hedges officiated. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Mrs. Dixon was born January 13, 1913, in Clewson, Angelina County, the daughter of Nancy Emoline (Reynolds) and James Hansel Hinson. She died Saturday, July 3, 2004, in a Lufkin hospital.
Mrs. Dixon graduated as salutatorian from El Dorado High School in El Dorado, Arkansas, and attended Saterwhite Business College in Lufkin. She helped found and operate Dixon Furniture Store for 28 years, where she served as bookkeeper.
Mrs. Dixon served as a pianist and Sunday School teacher for 43 years in various churches. She was a Charter Member and pianist at Uvalde Baptist Church in Houston, and a past member and pianist at Clawson Baptist Church. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lufkin, where she also served as a Sunday School teacher, WMU President, and pianist. Mrs. Dixon was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Rebekah Lodge.
Survivors include her son, Ardie Dixon and Guessna of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Lynn Cavin of Matthews, North Carolina; son and daughter-in-law, Dickie and Jana Dixon of Lufkin; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Mrs. Dixon was preceded in death by her parents; son, Dr. Don Dixon of Cuero; husband, Hershel Dixon Sr.; four brothers; and three sisters.
Visitation was Sunday, July 11 at Gipson-Metcalf Funeral Home.
Pallbearers: Don Dixon Jr. of Cuero, John Dixon, Cory Cavin, Matt Hermes, Wesley Dixon, and Ronnie Dixon.

Edna Pauline Gisler Jarvis
Edna Pauline Gisler Jarvis, 87, born March 27, 1917 in Weser to Amalie Seiler Gisler and Alois Gisler, passed away Friday, July 9, 2004 in Houston after a brief illness.
Edna was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Ander. Descended from early German settlers who immigrated to Texas in 1845, Edna was a fourth generation Texan. Two husbands, the first Alois Leon Ohrt and second husband, Russell Jarvis, preceded her in death. Of the union with Alois Ohrt, a daughter, Edith Ohrt Ralls and a son, Alois Leon Ohrt Jr. (deceased) were born. Edith Ohrt Ralls and her husband Billy D. Ralls survive her.
Also surviving are stepchildren, Robert Jarvis and Becky Jarvis Stafford; five grandchildren, Kimberly Ralls, Christine Ralls Spanos, Darrell Ohrt, and Karen Ohrt Tracy and Kathryn Ohrt Szalasny; step-grandchildren, Misty Jarvis, Rusty Jarvis, Ryan Morris, and Carrie Morris; ten great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are brother, Elwood Gisler and sisters, Della Abrameit, Rubie Gisler, and Aldeen Marr.

Willie M. Rudd
Willie Mae Rudd, 85, of Cuero, died Saturday, July 10, 2004.
She was born June 18, 1919 in Troup to the late Herbert and Willie Owens Thompson. She was a communication supervisor at Driscoll Children’s Hospital.
She is survived by her sons, Dennis Haire of Glenwood, Iowa, James Haire of Tyler, Virgil Rudd Jr. of Sugarland, and John Rudd of Cuero; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Virgil Rudd; parents; and brother, Herbert Owens Thompson.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 14 from 7 - 8 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home Chapel in Cuero. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Hillside Cemetery, with Rev. Glenn Robertson officiating. Freund Funeral Home, Cuero, 361-275-2343.

Lester E. Coleman
Lester E. Coleman, 49, of Victoria, died Sunday, July11, 2004.
He was born Dec. 20, 1954 in Freer to the Doreen “Pat” Rhame Hennesey of Yorktown and the late Luther E. Coleman. He was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the U .S. Navy and a driller.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Asbury Coleman; daughter Sheri McVety of Michigan; sons, Monty Key of Cuero, Brandon Coleman of Victoria; and Guy Coleman of Raymonville; mother; sisters, Judith Cox of Victoria and Sandra Janacek of Yorktown; brother, Michael Shoemake of Texas; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father; step-father, John “Joe” Hennesey; and daughter, Crystal Gayle Coleman.
Visitation was Tuesday, July 13 at Grace Funeral Home Chapel in Victoria. Services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Albert Edwards
Albert Edwards, 63, of Yoakum, died Friday, June 25, 2004.
He was born June 18, 1941 in Cuero to the late Joe Henderson Jr. and Ida Mae Sims Houston. He was a mechanic with the Texas Department of Highways. He was a member of Beth Elder Baptist Church in Yoakum and a church treasurer, Deacon, Trustee, and a member of the Brotherhood.
He is survived by his wife Louise Serrell Edwards; son, Zachary Edwards of Houston; step-daughters, Shevella Bourgeois of Austin and Carville Ellis of Plugerville; step-sons, David Sorrell of Plugerville and Robert Maxwell of Katy; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death his parents.
Visitation was Friday, July 2 at Jamison Funeral Home Chapel in Yoakum. Services were Saturday at Beth Elder Baptist Church, Rev. Marvin Carpenter Sr. officiated. Burial was at Hillside Cemetery in Cuero.

Harry Garcia
Harry Garcia, 59, of Cuero, died Wednesday, June 30, 2004.
He was born Feb. 10, 1945, in Cuero, to Antonio Garcia of Racine, Wisconsin, and Angelia Carrillo Segovia of Cuero. He was a machinist for Petro-Chemical.
Survivors: stepdaughter, Sylvia Ann McIntosh of Suffock, Virginia; son, Harry Garcia Jr. of San Antonio; sisters, Olga Gillum of Darrington, Washington, and Toni Lynn Montoya of Racine, Wisconsin; and brothers, Thomas Muniz of San Antonio, and David Garcia, Adam Garcia, Daniel Garcia, Andrew Garcia, and Jacob Garcia, all of Racine, Wisconsin.
Preceded in death by: brother, Jeff Garcia.
