Dennis Wayne Pesek
Dennis Wayne Pesek, 54, of Goliad, passed away Monday, Feb. 21, 2005.
He was born Feb. 25, 1950 in Victoria, to Ann Jane (Gerlich) Pesek of Victoria and the late Charles James Pesek. He was an Eagle Scout. He was a Process Operator at Koch-Invista Corp.
Survivors: wife, Robin Lin Pesek of Goliad; mother, Ann Jane Pesek of Victoria; sons, Colter Pesek, Clayton Pesek and Chad Pesek, all of Goliad; sisters, Charlene Parker of Beeville and JoAnn Bone of Victoria; and brother, Ray Allen Pesek of Port O’Connor.
Preceded in death by: father, Charles James Pesek.
A Rosary was recited on Wednesday, Feb. 23 at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel in Victoria. Services were Thursday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Goliad, Pastors Jason Teague and Paul Zwarich officiated. Interment followed at Fannin Live Oak Cemetery.

Cherie Kay Holloway Reese
Cherie Kay Holloway Reese, 69, passed away February 15, 2005 at home after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s disease. She was born May 3, 1935 in Corpus Christi, Texas to the late Harwell Beron and Eva Docia West Holloway. She was a 1953 graduate of Cuero High School and held a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from the University of Texas. She utilized her teaching and organizational skills as a volunteer in the Cuero Community. She served at the First Baptist Church as a Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School leader, choir member, Building and Grounds Committee chairperson, Pastoral Search Committee member, Building Committee member and founder of the graded children’s choir program. For the Cuero Independent School District, she helped pass the bond issue as PTA president that led to the building of John C. French and Hunt Elementary schools. Her passions and hobbies included all family and church activities, cooking, singing, bridge, oil painting and travel.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Raymond R. Reese of Cuero; daughter, Rebecca Dawson, and son-in-law, James Dawson, of San Antonio; son, Raymond H. Reese, and daughter-in-law, Helen Reese, of Cuero; and three grandchildren, Jordan Elizabeth Reese, Emily Kay Reese and Pearson Holloway Reese of Cuero. Her loving caregivers were Lucy Mae Wright, Jackie Moritz, Stella Lira and Mary Huerta. She was preceded in death by her infant sister, Virginia Ann Holloway; her parents, H.B. and Eva Holloway; and her in-laws, C. R. and Alta Reese.
Visitation was Wednesday, February 16, at the Freund Funeral Home in Cuero. Funeral services were held Thursday, February 17 at the First Baptist Church in Cuero, Dr. Glenn Robertson officiated. Burial was at Hillside Cemetery under the direction of Freund Funeral Home, Cuero, 361-275-2343.

Lue Dell Duncan Cooper
Lue Dell Duncan Cooper went to meet the Lord on Friday, February 11, 2005. She was born May 23, 1910 in Edgar, Texas to the late Jessie Bennit and Florence Ellen Reader Duncan.
Mrs. Cooper was a homemaker and a lifetime resident of Cuero, Texas. She enjoyed her family being with her. She loved to sing for people and her church. She went faithfully to Calvary Baptist Church as long as she could. She loved her pastors: Brother Bill Gleason, Brother George Yarborough, and Brother John Muller.
She gave birth to four children. She lost twin boys in 1935. She has two surviving daughters, Nelda Parr and Wanda Spittler, both of Cuero; son-in-law, Everett Spittler, of whom she was very fond; eight grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Eula Boyd Hennesey, of Bastrop. She was preceded in death by her husband, N. W. Cooper; her brothers, Robert Duncan and Albert Duncan; her sisters, Beula Marshall and Annabell Coker; and a son-in-law, Irl James Parr, of whom she was also very fond.
A visitation was held Sunday, February 13, 2005 at the Freund Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services were held Monday at Calvary Baptist Church in Cuero at 2 p.m. with the Brothers Bill Gleason and George Yarborough officiating. Burial was in the Hebron Cemetery under the direction of Freund Funeral Home, Cuero, 361-275-2343.

Delfina Rodriguez, 57, of Yorktown, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005.
She was born April 6, 1947, in Runge, to the late Estevan and Solomma Salinas Gonzales. She was a Dietician at the Yorktown hospital.
Survivors: husband, Marcos Rodriguez; daughter, Melissa Salinas of Yorktown; sons, David Salinas and James Salinas, both of Yorktown; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Angeline Berkovsky Zissa, 83, of Sweet Home, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005.
She was born March 27, 1921, in Shiner, to the late Frank and Frances Pesek Berkovsky. She was a homemaker, a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, and SPJST.
Survivors: Earline Zabransky of Sweet Home; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: husband, Willie Zissa; son, Leon Zissa; infant sister, Mary Berkovsky; sister, Mildred Bolech; brothers, William Berkovsky and Geoffry Berkovsky.

Larry Dale Miller, 50, of Lindenau, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2005.
He was born Dec. 18, 1954, in McAllen, to Garrett C. Miller of Gonzales and Charlotte Rose of Moulton. He was the owner and operator of G & L Contractors in San Antonio.
Survivors: wife, Celia Miller; son, Larry Dale Miller II of Pensacola, Florida; stepsons, Edward Dale Senter of Austin and Daniel H. Senter of George West; brothers, Arthur Garrett Miller of Lindenau and Stephen Clyde Miller of San Antonio; one grandson; and two step-granddaughters.

Elnita (Nene) Nagel Janecek
Elnita (Nene) Nagel Janecek, age 99, of San Antonio, Texas, died on Monday, February 7, 2005.
She was born in Cuero, Texas to Bertha (Moeller) and Rudolph Nagel on September 20, 1905. She attended Cuero schools and graduated from the University of Texas. Elnita taught school in and around Cuero, and also in San Antonio until 1939. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph J. Janecek, who owned Rudy’s Pharmacy until his death in 1973. She was active in various groups and served as president in the ladies auxiliaries of both the Bexar County and Texas Pharmaceutical Associations. She was a devoted, 60-year member of First Presbyterian Church.
Elnita is survived by her daughter, Jane Janecek Lemoine and husband, Bill Lemoine of Boerne, Texas; her son, Bob Janecek and wife, Donna of Beaumont, Texas; four grandchildren, Jennifer Lemoine Brunk and husband, Dave of The Woodlands, Texas, Craig Lemoine and wife, Amy of Lubbock, Texas, David Janecek and wife, Trisha of Spring, Texas, and Gary Janecek of Nederland, Texas; and two great-grandchildren, Ryan Brunk and Nathan Janecek.
The family received friends Sunday afternoon from 3 o’clock to 5 o’clock at Porter Loring on McCullough in San Antonio. Services were Monday, Feb. 14 at the First Presbyterian Church, 404 N. Melba H. Wolpman
Melba H. Wolpman, 93, of Yorktown, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2005.
She was born Jan. 13, 1912, in Yorktown, to the late George and Ida Kraege Hinsey. She attended Texas Lutheran College and graduated from Southwest Texas State University. She was a retired school teacher with 25 years of service with Clear Creek, Yorktown, and Meyersville schools. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, W.E.L.C.A., Missionary Society, and a former member of the Yorktown Hospital Guild.
Survivors: daughter, Lois Strieber of Yorktown; sons, Manroy Wolpman and Kraege Wolpman, both of Yorktown; sisters, Dorris Mueller of Yorktown and Edith Schneider of Lockhart; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Robert Arthur Fielding, 68, of Brazoria and formerly of Yorktown, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005.
He was born Dec. 27, 1936, in Everett, Massachusetts, to the late Edgar and Edith Crosby Fielding. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a custodian for the Yorktown Country Club and a cook.
Survivors: daughter, Lori L. Rodriguez of Victoria; sons, Robert A. Fielding of Brazoria, Walter K. Fielding of Scurry, and Kevin E. Fielding of Weesatche; sisters, Ruth Strelczyk of Yoakum, and Joann Blanche and Jean Gavin, both of Malden, Mass.; brother, Stanley Fielding of Malden, Mass.; and several grandchildren.

He was born Aug. 10, 1932, in Cuero, to the late Delfino Sr. and Maria Chavez Navarro. He was a truck driver for the City of Cuero Street Department for 20 years and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
Survivors: sisters, Oralia Navarro of Cuero, Elvira Dimas of San Antonio, and Guadalupe Hays of Ardmore, Oklahoma; brothers, Ramon C. Navarro Sr. of Cuero and Stephen C. Navarro of Port Lavaca.
