Lydia M. T. Leonhardt

Lydia Mary Targac Leonhardt, 88, of Victoria, died Wednesday, June 15, 2005.
She was born Sept. 20, 1916 in Concrete to the late Joseph and Mary Mikulenka Targac. She was a retired waitress and a Catholic.
She is survived by her daughter, Dorothy Neely of Victoria; sister, Emma Edgar of Lake Jackson; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Leonhardt; daughter, Evelyn Jeanette Leonhardt; son, Leroy Leonhardt; parents; and sister, Vlasia Kohutek McCarty.
Visitation was Thursday, June 16 at Grace Funeral Home in Victoria. Services were Friday, Msgr. James Brunner officiated. Burial was in Westhoff Cemetery. Grace Funeral Home, Victoria, 361-573-4341.

Maria E. Ruiz

Maria Elodia Ruiz, 71, of Cuero, died Thursday, June 16, 2005.
She was born Sept. 11, 1933, in Cuero, to the late Matias and Maria Basquez Garza. She worked in a cafeteria for Cuero Independent School District and was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
She is survived by her sons, Hector Ruiz of Seguin and Michael Ruiz of Cuero; sisters, Mary Molina of Yorktown, Connie Newman and Molly Higgins, both of Houston, Jane Schuhart of Palestine, Chris Davis of Baytown, Chris Gordon of Palestine, and Virginia Segura of Pasadena; brothers, Jimmy Garza of Cuero and Pete Basquez of Waelder; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Ruiz, and a baby sister.
A rosary was recited Friday, June 17 at Freund Funeral Chapel. Services were Saturday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Rev. Kirby Hlavaty officiated. Burial was at Hillside Cemetery. Freund Funeral Home, Cuero, 361-275-2343.
Pallbearers: Raymond Ruiz, Randall Ruiz, Ernest Ruiz, Danny Villarreal, Rick Garza, and Jim Garza.

Anna P. Lindsey

Anna Pauline Lindsey, 90, of Yorktown, died Friday, June 17, 2005.
She was born Oct. 29, 1914, in Yorktown, to the late Ludwig Carl and Henriette Marie Gips Zedler. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Margaret Jendrzey of Yorktown, Dorcas Kloss of Indianapolis, Donna Thomas of Shawnee, Kansas, and Cheryl Leist of Yorktown; son, William Lindsey of Corpus Christi; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Morton Lindsey Sr.; brother, Dr. Garland Gus Zedler; and two grandchildren.
Visitation was Sunday, June 19 at Lamprecht-Janssen Funeral Home Chapel. Services were Monday at the chapel. Burial was at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. Lamprecht-Janssen Funeral Home, Yorktown, 361-564-2277.
Pallbearers: Trandon Leist, Todd Leist, Dustin Green, Tammy Green, Shawn Kloss, Daryl Thomas, and Grover Cessor Jr.

Kandi Hilbrich

Kandi Rae Hilbrich, 37, of Victoria passed away Sunday, June 5, 2005 after a valiant struggle with diabetes.
She was born March 14, 1968, in Victoria, to Sandra Morisse Hilbrich and the late Rubin Hilbrich. She attended Floresville schools where she graduated in 1986. Kandi received her LVN certification from Victoria College. She was a life-long Lutheran and a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Victoria.
She is survived by her mother; sister, Sheri Millis Hillenbrand of Fort Hood; nephew, Aaron Millis; and niece, Chelsea Millis; and numerous Morisse and Hilbrich extended family members.
Kandi was preceded in death by her father and grandparents, Burghard and Ruby Morisse, and Adolph and Sophie Hilbrich.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, June 7 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Victoria, by Pastor John Waak officiated. Rosewood Funeral Chapels in Victoria was in charge of arrangements.
Honorary Pallbearers: Ron Hillenbrand, Michael Wolf, Christine Wolf Hoover, Vickie Aldis Medrano, Bradley Aldis, Jonathan Aldis, Candace Jackson Parker, Amber Jackson Piercy, Aaron Millis and Chelsea Millis.
Memorials: Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church Prayer Garden.

Lunettie E. Lewis

Lunettie E. Lewis, 95, of Cuero, died Sunday, June 12, 2005.
She was born May 3, 1910 in DeWitt County to the late Jesse Sr. and Elizabeth Johnson Green. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her daughter, Zula Mae Houston of San Antonio; numerous grandchildren; and numerous niece and nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 16 at 3:30 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church, with Rev. Lawrence G. Roy officiating. Burial will be at Woodman Cemetery. Freund Funeral Home, Cuero, 361-275-2343.

Johnston S. Cox, M.D.

Johnston S. Cox, M. D., 55, of Austin and formerly of Cuero, died Thursday, June 9, 2005.
He was born June 21, 1949 in Cuero to the late Leonard M. and Deb. Winslett Cox. He graduated from Cuero High School, South West Texas, and University of Texas-Galveston. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was in Family Practice Medicine in Edna and Victoria.
He is survived by his special friend, Katherine House of Austin; daughter, Amber Elizabeth Cox of Victoria; sons, Johnston S. Cox Jr. of Fort Worth, Thomas Cox of Victoria, and Winslett Cox and Eric House, both of Austin; and brother, Tom Cox of Bullard.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Lynn Cox.
A memorial service was held Sunday, June 12 at Freund Funeral Home. Freund Funeral Home, Cuero, 361-275-3464.

Francisca R. Perez

Francisca R. Perez, 82, of Kenedy, formerly of Nordheim, died Saturday, June 11, 2005.
She was born June 12, 1922, in Runge, to the late Horacio and Maria Reyna Rossett. She was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Saniada Garcia and Estella Perez, both of Kenedy, Simona Perez of San Antonio, and Gloria Guerrero of Yorktown; sons, Domingo Perez of San Antonio, Avalino Perez of Corpus Christi, Joe Perez of Yorktown, and Rosendo Perez of Victoria; sisters, Juanita Villega of Runge and Anita Berlinga of San Antonio; brothers, Ignacio Rossett and Ricardo Rossett, both of San Antonio, and Yeidro Rossett of Kenedy; 33 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Domingo Perez; daughter Lile Quiroz; and five brothers and sisters.
A rosary was recited Monday, June 13 at Eckols Chapel. Services were Tuesday at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Rev. Mauricio Lopez officiated. Burial was at Runge Cemetery. Eckols Funeral Home, Kenedy, 830-583-2533.

Hercelia U. Pereida

Hercelia Uresti Pereida, of Nursery, died June 10, 2005.
She was born in Nursery to the late Vidal and Antonita Gonzales Uresti. She was a sales consultant with Lulu's Dress Shop and J. C. Penny, and a Catholic.
She is survived by her sons, Ronnie Uresti Pereida of Nursery, and Orland Uresti Pereida of Katy; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andy Pereida; sister, Herminnie Uresti Garcia; and brother, Sylvestre Uresti.
A rosary was recited Monday, June 13 at Rosewood Funeral Chapels. A memorial service was Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church, Rev. Greg Korenek officiated . Rosewood Funeral Chapels, Victoria, 361-573-4346.

Mike P. Gonzales Sr.

Mike Padron Gonzales Sr., 87, of Victoria, died Sunday, September 8, 2002.
He was born September 29, 1914, in Cuero, to the late Tomas and Juanita Padron Gonzales. He was a retired operator for a dry cleaners and a member of Faith Family Church. He was an U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a life member of the American Legion and a member of Woodmen of the World.
Survivors: wife, Clara Hernandez Gonzales; daughter, Beatrice Garza of Houston; son, Mike Gonzales Jr. of Goliad; brother, John P. Gonzales of Victoria; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: parents; brother, Manuel Gonzales; and one granddaughter.
Visitation was Tuesday, September 10 at Artero Memorial Chapels. A prayer service was also held Tuesday at the funeral home chapel, Rev. Dan Cancino officiated. Services were Wednesday at Faith Family Church, Rev. Larry Helms officiated. Burial with full military honors, under the auspices of Victoria Veterans Council, VFW, CWV, DAV, Vietnam Veterans of America, American Legion, Marine Corps League, the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Crossroads Ex-POWs and the Military Order of the World Wars was at Memorial Park Cemetery. Artero Memorial Chapels, Victoria, 361-573-4546.

Waldemar W. Schulle

Waldemar W. Schulle, age 79, of Maxwell, passed away on September 2, 2002.
Mr. Schulle was born December 2, 1922 in Westhoff to Christian and Christina Spellmann Schulle.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Winkler Schulle of Maxwell; son, Don Ray Schulle and wife, Vibiana of Lockhart; three grandchildren; sisters, Elna Grube of Cuero, Lorene Rickman of Victoria, and Norma Landgrebe of Tynan; brothers, August Schulle of Westhoff, Rudolph Schulle and Erwin Schulle, both of Cuero.
Services were Wednesday, September 4 at McCurdy Chapel, Lockhart. Burial followed at Memory Lawn Park, Martindale. Services were under the direction of McCurdy Funeral Home in Lockhart.
Pallbearers were Frank Schulle Jr., William O. Schulle, Wesley Martindale, Sherrill Schulle, Allyn W. Neunann, and Billy “Huff” Winkler.

Damacia V. Rodriguez

Damacia V. Rodriguez, 92, of Cuero, died Monday, September 9, 2002.
She was born December 11, 1909, in Yorktown, to the late Louis and Eleanor Martinez Vasquez. She was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
Survivors: daughters, Janie Salazar of Van Vleck and Eulalia DeLeRosa and Minnie Vasquez, both of Cuero; sons, Ralph Rodriguez Sr. and Rudy Rodriguez, both of Cuero; sisters, Mary Hernandez, Jannie Garza and Christina Munoz, all of Cuero; brother, Victor Vasquez of Cuero; 29 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: husband, Juan G. Rodriguez; son, Pete Rodriguez; parents; sister, Margarita Garza; brothers, Ralph Vasquez, Alfred Vasquez, Louis Vasquez and Nasario Vasquez; and three grandchildren.
A rosary was recited Tuesday, September 10 at Freund Funeral Home chapel. Services were Wednesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Rev. Michael Lyons officiated. Burial was at Hillside Cemetery in Cuero. Freund Funeral Home, Cuero, 361-275-2343.
Pallbearers: Jerry De La Rosa, Gabriel Mejia, Pete Rodriguez Jr., Daniel Hernandez, Ralph Rodriguez Jr. and Patrick Rodriguez.
