Maria de los Angeles Trejo Trevino, age 64, died March 7, 2003, at the residence of a daughter in Cuero following a long battle with cancer. She was born in Ramirez.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Fidel Trevino Jr; parents, Cesario and Dionicia Trejo; brothers, Eugenio Trejo, Jose Trejo, Apolinar Trejo, and Mateo Trejo; sisters, Tomasa Espinoza and Gregoria Charles.
She is survived by daughters, Lydia Vasquez, Anna (mike) Farrer, and Naomi (Charles) Jones, all of Brenham, Rosemary (Jim) Hall of Cuero, and Ruth (Junior) Horndt of Ellinger; sons, Fidel (Charlotte) Trevino III of Bryan and Albert (Ludie) Trevino of Burton; sisters, Maria (Manuel) Rea of Alice and Adela (Richard) Guerra of Olney; 19 grandchildren; and great grandchildren, Victoria, Naomi, and Alen.
Visitation was Saturday and Sunday, March 15 and 16, at Roberson Funeral Chapel in Alice; Services were Monday, March 10 at Roberson Funeral Chapel. Interment was at the New Collins Cemetery. Roberson’s Funeral Home, Alice, 512-664-1661.

Estella Buesing, 78, of Yorktown, died Saturday, March 15, 2003.
She was born March 20, 1924, in Lindenau, to the late Edward and Annie Kuester Huebner. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Survivors: husband, Alton "Shorty" Buesing; daughter, Ardean Heil of Corpus Christi; sons, Hal Buesing of Knippa and Mark Buesing of La Mesa, N.M.; sister, Gladys Mueller of Yorktown; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Augustine Santos Barbontin, 42, of Cuero, died Tuesday, September 2, 2003.
He was born August 28, 1961, in Cuero, to Santos Ruiz Barbontin of Cuero and the late Nazario Barbontin Jr. He was a restaurant maintenance worker and a Catholic.
Survivors: daughters, Ashley Barbontin, Brooke Barbontin, and Amber Barbontin, all of Yoakum; sisters, Ramona Arzarte, Alice Martinez, Rosemary Garza, Maria Rios, and Eva Garibay, all of Cuero; brothers, John Barbontin, Joe Barbontin, Nazario Barbontin III, Michael Barbontin, Jesse Barbontin, and Paul Barbontin, all of Cuero, and Frank Barbontin and Adam Barbontin, both of Victoria.

Leonor Jasso Garcia
Leonor Jasso Garcia, 87, of Cuero, and formerly of Weslaco, died Sunday, August 31, 2003.
She was born March 22, 1916 in DeWitt County to the late Casimiro and Paulina Jasso. She was a factory worker in Weslaco for Libby and Green Giant Packing Co. She was a Catholic.
She is survived by her husband, Gilberto Garcia; sister, Elvira Rocha of Cuero; and numerous nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Fidelia Sanchez, Mary Jasso, Lupe Guzman; and brothers, Alejandro Jasso, Jose Jasso, and Casimiro Jasso II.
Services were held in San Antonio. A rosary was held Wednesday, September 3 at Rodriguez Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was held Thursday at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, celebrant Father Francisco Puente. Willie C. Pickens Jr.
Willie C. Pickens Jr., 53, of Austin and formerly of Cuero, died Saturday, August 30, 2003.
He was born August 8, 1950, in Cuero, to Willie Sr. and Lorraine Lewis Pickens. He served in the U. S. Army and the Texas National Guard. He was an analyst for the Internal Revenue Service and a member of Greater Swenson Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors: wife, Carol Ross Pickens; daughter, Catrina Pickens of Austin; son, Shay Pickens of Austin; and brothers, Joe Pickens and Gary Pickens, both of Dallas, and Roy Pickens of Victoria.

Eddie Machost, 91, of Yorktown, died Wednesday, September 3, 2003.
He was born January 13, 1912, in Gillette, to the late John and Annie Berger Machost. He was a retired carpenter and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Survivors: daughters, Annie Ledwik, Ruby Warzecha, Mary Hilbrick, Helen LeMaire, and Linda Peyton, all of Yorktown; Shirley Thomas of Fort Worth, and Rose Ann Tabbert of Converse; son, Eddie Wayne Machost of Yorktown; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.

Corinne A. Kauffman
Corinne Anders Kauffman, 82, of Cuero, died Wednesday, September 3, 2003.
Corinne was born April 18, 1921 in Moulton to the late Oscar Rudolph and Emma Papacek Anders. She was a graduate of the University of Texas. She taught school for the Cuero Independent School District (5th grade) and St. Michael's Catholic School (Language Arts) in Cuero. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters of America, and the St. Michael’s Altar Society.
Corinne is survived by her husband, Jacob David "Dave" Kauffman of Cuero; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary C. and Alan Kahlich of Cuero, Kathryn and Dan Fischer of Bellevue, Washington, and Emmy and Gary Ferguson of Houston; grandchildren, David Kahlich of Cuero, Lisa Bissell of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, Emily Fischer of Redmond, Washington, Melissa Fischer of Bellevue, Washington, and Kelly Daniel of Arlington; and five great-grandchildren.

Lillian Annie Borchardt, 86, of Cuero, died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003.
She was born Dec. 25, 1916, in Arneckeville, to the late Friedrick Wilhelm and Augusta Theresa Domann Dolgner. She was a homemaker.
Survivors: daughter, Kathy Ann Borchardt of Cuero; son, Harold Wayne Borchardt of Cuero; sister, Ella Borchardt of San Antonio; brothers, Edwin Dolgner of Yorktown, Herbert Dolgner of Corpus Christi and Milton Dolgner of Houston; four grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and 12 step-great-grandchildren.
