Nancy Carol Morrow White
Nancy Carol Morrow White, 57, of Victoria, ended her fight with breast cancer on Wednesday, August 28, 2002.
She was born August 3, 1945, in Victoria, to Hazel Hutchison Morrow and the late Perry B. Morrow. She was a 1965 graduate of Victoria High School and later received her Bachelor's degree from Longwood College, Farmville, Virginia and Master of Divinity degree from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary. She served as student pastor at First Presbyterian Church, Tonkawa, OK, as well as pastor at Edna Presbyterian Church, Edna; St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Marble Falls; and most recently at First Presbyterian Church, Cuero.
She is survived by her mother, her beloved husband, Henry Martyn White, sisters, Barbara Morrow Phillips, Victoria, and Danna Morrow Brandt, Tivoli, brother, Edward Perry Morrow, Trinity, children Ronald David Pollock, Jr., Victoria, and Melissa Pollock Chadd, Edna, and five precious granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, father, stepfather, Henry B. Morrow, and great-niece, Darcee Amelia Lee.
Services were Saturday, August 31, at Grace Presbyterian Church of Victoria, Rev. Dan Fultz officiated. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation was held Friday, August 30 at Colonial Funeral Home.

Dominga Betty Jones
Dominga Betty Jones, 63, of Cuero, died September 26, 2002.
She was born to the late Antonio and Gregoria Boconegra Garibay on February 5, 1939 in Cuero. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Roy E. Jones of Cuero; daughter, Julie Cervantes of Austin; son, James Jones of Cuero; sisters, Josephine Garibay of Cuero and Andelia Barrios of Victoria; brother, Paul Garibay of Cuero; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Nora Serna.
A rosary will be held Thursday, October 3 at 6 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. A Memorial Mass will be held Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church with Rev. Michael Lyons officiating.

Ella H. Martinez
Ella H. Martinez, 69, of Little River, died Wednesday, September 25, 2002 in a Belton nursing home.
Funeral services were held Friday, September 27 at First Baptist Church of Little River with Rev. John Crosby officiating. Burial was at Wilson Valley Cemetery in Little River.
A family visitation was held Thursday, September 26 at Sheffield Funeral Home in Temple.
Ella was born November 12, 1932 in Karnes County to Robert Hopper and Francisca Perez Hopper. She attended school in Westhoff and was a member of First Baptist Church in Little River for 10 years. She has resided in Little River since 1968 and resided in Westhoff from 1949 to 1968. She was a caregiver and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Antonio Martinez on June 22, 1998.
Ella is survived by two sons, Oscar Martinez and Kelly Martinez, both of Little River; two daughters, Edelia Vriseno and Norma Terry, both of Little River; two sisters, Josephine Arriaga of Nixon and Lillie H. Ebrom of Westhoff; 9 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

Gregory Ortiz
Gregory Gilbert Ortiz, 50, of Houston, and formerly of Yorktown, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 9, 2002 after a hard and courageous battle with cancer.
He was born February 2, 1952 in Yorktown to Inez Ortiz of Cuero and the late Victor Ortiz. Greg graduated from Yorktown High School in 1970 and proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a M.P. and was a Postal Service employee for 25 years. He was an avid sports memorabilia collector and had a zest for life.
He was preceded in death by his father, Victor Ortiz. He will be greatly missed by his mother, Inez Ortiz; wife, Lea; and son, Gregory Jr. Also, brothers, Wally Ortiz of Yuma, Arizona, Richard Ortiz and Ray Ortiz of Sugarland, and Mike Ortiz of Georgetown; sisters, Timmy Ortiz of Cuero, Marie Survant of Salado, Connie Aitkens of McAllen, Alice Aoueille of Yorktown, Yolanda Cervantes of Round Rock, and niece Katie Brandt of Victoria. He will also be greatly missed by several nieces and nephews and many friends who loved him very much.
A wake service was held on Wednesday, September 11, 2002 at Templo Bethel in Houston with Rev. George Vasquez officiating. Interment followed after a military funeral service with “Taps” being played at Houston National Cemetery.
Pallbearers included: Richard Ortiz, Ray Ortiz, Mike Ortiz, John P. Aoueille, Andy Aoueille, Leonard Aitkens, Samuel Rios and Robert Garcia.

Stella K. Simecek
Stella Kimmel Simecek, 96, of Yorktown, died Tuesday, December 10, 2002.
She was born March 17, 1906, in Yorktown, to the late Paul and Olga Ladewig Kimmel. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Gruenau Sons of Hermann Lodge.
Survivors: daughters, Jo Ann Jarzombek, Joyce Knox and Faye Franz, all of Victoria; son, Don Simecek of Yorktown; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: husband, Alfred L. Simecek; one infant son; parents; sisters, Frieda Diebel, Annie Schroeder, Ella Griffin and Ida Piske; and brothers, Alfred Kimmel and Edwin Kimmel.

Lewis Charles Walker
Lewis Charles Walker, 49, of Austin, and formerly of Cuero, died Tuesday, December 10, 2002.
He was born in Cuero on December 18, 1952 to Elma Walker and the late Clifton Cartwright of Cuero. He was a wait person at The Pit Barbecue Place in Austin and a Baptist.
He is survived by his mother; sisters, Rose Ball, Judy Walker, and Lucille Cartwright, all of Cuero; and brothers, James Kelsaw of San Antonio, David Walker, Joe Frank Walker, and Leonard Cartwright, all of Cuero, and Ralph Cartwright of Victoria.
He was preceded in death by his father and brother, John Cartwright.
Visitation was Sunday, December 15 at Jamison Funeral Home Chapel in Yoakum and Monday, December 16 at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church. Services were Monday, December 16 at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church in Cuero, Rev. A. J. Ball officiated. Burial was at Thomaston Community Cemetery in Thomaston.
Ora Beatrice Carter
Ora Beatrice Carter, 76, of Cuero, died December 14, 2002.
She was born in Concrete on August 20, 1926 to the late Rosa Lewis and Alvro Jackson. She was a retired dietician for the Food Service Industry and a Baptist.
She is survived by her daughter, Rosalyn Carter of Cuero; sons, James Floyd Carter of Houston and Willie Earl Carter III of Cuero; sister, Ethel Lee Arkadie of Montgomery, Alabama; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Carter Jr.; parents; and sister, Constance Giles.

Delta Weaver
Delta Weaver, 67, of Kerrville, died Wednesday, December 11, 2002.
She was born February 11, 1935 in Paron, Arkansas, to the late Everett and Stella Bagley Hill. She was a retired bookkeeper for the Southwest ISD and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Kerrville.
Survivors include her daughter, Betty E. Tomanec and her husband, Scott, of Victoria, and formerly of Cuero; son, Hugh Weaver and his wife, Pam, of Center Point; sisters, Mildred Lambert of Benton, Arkansas, Estes Morris of Monticello, Mississippi, Pat Jefferson of Paron, Arkansas, and Evelyn Jackson of Alexander, Arkansas; brothers, Wayne Hill of Benton, Arkansas, and Glenn Hill of Arkadelphia, Arkansas; and grandchildren, Chad Tomanec, Kristen Tomanec, and Bryan and Amanda Weaver.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion M. Weaver Jr.; son, Mark Weaver; and her parents.

Glen M. "Jack" Adcock
Glen M. "Jack" Adcock, 84, of Nursery, died Sunday, March 2, 2003.
He was born January 24, 1919 in Victoria to the late Richard J. and Buena Magee Adcock. He served in the U. S. Navy from 1942-1944. He was an Ag. Teacher in Mission Valley, Rancher and Cattleman in Victoria County; Texas Parks and Wildlife Biologist; worked Farm Home Administration; worked as Roust-A-Bout; owner of Fences by Adcock and was a member of Cuero Booster Club for 40 years. He was a member of Nursery Methodist Church.
Glen is survived his daughter, Ann Craft of Orange; a granddaughter, Heather Stewart and husband Zed and great-grandson, Duncan Augustus Stewart, all of Bluff Dale; and grandson, Chad Craft of Dallas.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Miller Adcock; parents; and two sisters, Vivian Johnston and Avis Newcomer.
Visitation was Tuesday, March 4 at Freund Chapel, Cuero. Funeral services were Wednesday, March 5 at 4 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at Thomaston Cemetery, Thomaston.

Agnes Mary Meyer
Agnes Mary Meyer, age 79, of San Antonio, died Saturday, March 7, 2003.
She was born January 21, 1924 in Port Arthur to the late Pete F. and Gertrude Skoruppa Prukop.
She worked in Civil Service as radio technician in Cuero, Kelly Field in San Antonio, and Aloe Field in Victoria. She retired in San Antonio. She was a Catholic.
She is survived by her sister, Gertrude Veselka of Victoria; nephew, Ronnie Veselka of Houston; great nieces, Kimberly Ann Veselka of Houston and Christine Veselka of Orange Grove.
She is preceded by her husband, Edward F. Meyer; parents; sister, Mary Prukop; nephew, Norman Veselka; and brother, Pete Prukop.

Elva Morales
Funeral services for Elva Morales, 74, of Rosenberg, former Cuero resident, was held Tuesday, Aug. 10 in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home, Pastor Hector Flores officiated the service. Interment followed at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Visitation was held Monday, Aug. 9 at the funeral home chapel.
Elva died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004 at home in Rosenberg. She was born Jan. 5, 1930 in Sinton to Jose Angel Morales and Guadalupe Canales Morales. She was a member of the Church of God - Seventh Day.
Ms. Elva Morales is survived by daughter, Sylvia Rendon and her husband, Alberto, of Rosenberg; sons, Aniceto Galvan and his wife, Carla, of Mertens and Alejandro Galvan Jr. and his wife, Betty, of La Marque; sister, Maria Quintero and her husband, Tomas, of Sinton and Gracie Wendt and her husband, Terri, of Mendota, Illinois; brother, Jose Morales Jr. and his wife, Maria, of Dayton, Oregon, and Joel Morales and his wife, Maria, of Sinton; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Guadalupe Morales; sisters, Juanita Morales Perez and Raquela Morales Vincent; and brother, Adam, Morales.
