Selma Rogge Boeckmann
Selma Rogge Boeckmann, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on Tuesday, August 3, 2004, at 96 years of age.
She was born in Shiner, on Dec. 3, 1907, to the late Theodore H. and Ophelia Dreyer Rogge. She had been a long-time resident of Yorktown prior to her move to Victoria.
She graduated from Shiner High School as salutatorian of her class and received her BA from Baylor University, where she majored in Education and History. She returned to Shiner and taught school in the Shiner Public School. On Sept. 1, 1935, she married Roy Boeckmann of San Antonio, in the First United Methodist Church of Shiner. They resided in San Antonio for four years prior to moving to Yorktown, where they owned and operated the Western Auto Store, later the General Tire and Hardware Store. Following Roy's death in 1976, Selma continued operating the business until her retirement several years later.
She was a life member of the Yorktown Eastern Star, an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Yorktown, a former member of the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce and the Yorktown Museum Association, and an avid bridge player.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Redmon of Victoria; granddaughters, Monica Zeplin Austin of Dallas and Erica Zeplin of McAllen; great-grandchildren, Ashley Austin and Luke Austin; beloved sister, Helen Archer of Portland.
Preceding her in death are her husband, Roy Boeckmann; parents; sister, Mae Martin; and brother George Rogge.
Visitation was Thursday, Aug. 5 at Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral services were Friday at the funeral home, Dr. Harold Onwiler officiated. Burial was at Westside Cemetery, Yorktown. Colonial Funeral Home, Victoria, 361-578-3535.

Olga Ender
Olga Ender, 88, of Yorktown, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004.
She was born Nov. 6, 1915, in Yorktown, to the late Joseph and Minnie Jalufka Kubala. She was a homemaker and a Lutheran.
Survivors: daughters, Barbara Chandler of Yorktown and Edra Marie Mazurkiewicz of Alamogorda, New Mexico; son, Michael Ender of Houston; sisters, Beulah Hengst of Lorena and Mary Stephan of Edna; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: son, Eddie Ender Jr.; and brothers, Jim Ender, Frank Ender, and George Ender.

Raul Muniz Sr.
Mr. Raul Muniz Sr., 73, of Yorktown, passed away Sunday, Aug. 8, 2004.
He was born April 7, 1931, in Runge, to the late Mauro and Juanita Muniz. He was the owner of a fencing company. He was a Catholic.
Survivors: wife, Mary Flores Muniz of Yorktown; daughter, Mary Jane Muniz of Yorktown; step-daughter, Gloria Osorno of Houston; sons, Gasper Muniz and Robert Muniz, both of Yorktown, Raul Muniz Jr. of Georgia, and Mauro Muniz of Telferner; sisters, Ester Mata of Alice, Ofelia Hinojosa of Runge, Teresa Rojas of Victoria, Juanita Cavazos and Enriqueta Cabellero, both of Corpus Christi; brothers, Elias Muniz and Ben Muniz, both of Corpus Christi, Pedro Muniz of San Antonio, and Emmitt Muniz of Mineral Wells; and five grandchildren.

A vigil/prayer service was held Monday, Aug. 9 at Lamprecht-Janssen Funeral Home. A funeral Mass was held Tuesday at San Luis Catholic Church. Interment followed at San Luis Catholic Cemetery.

Ronnie “Ron” R. Villareal
Ronnie “Ron” R. Villareal, 47, of Altus, Oklahoma, and formerly of Victoria, died July 25, 2004.
He was born June 11, 1957 in Hallettsville to Greg Villareal of Cuero and Dominga Caballero Villareal of Altus, Oklahoma. He served in the Army from 1973 to 1977. He worked in construction maintenance for Don Anderson. He was a Catholic.
He is survived by his parents; daughter, Priscilla Perez; brother, Mike Villareal of Altus, Oklahoma; and one grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his brother, George Villareal.
A memorial service will be held August 14 at 11 a.m. at the Cuero Veterans of Foreign Wars #3972.
Marcelo D. Flores Sr.
Marcelo D. Flores Sr., 74, of Smiley, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 2004.
He was born Han. 31, 1930 in Gonzales County to the late Jose and Felecita Delva Flores. He married Maria Perez on Sept. 15, 1948. He was retired and a Baptist.
He was survived by his wife Maria Perez Flores; daughters, Mary Lou Castillo and husband Eusebio, Connie Gunnoe and husband Andrew, and Gloria Flores, all of San Marcos, Janie Villa and husband Guadalupe of Cuero, and Jo Ann Medina and husband Carlos of Smiley; sons, Marcelo D. Flores Jr. and wife Nelly of Seguin; sisters, Amelia Pena of Nixon and Olivia Noyola of Mission; brother, Alex Perez of San Antonio; 17 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gregorio Flores and Lucresio Flores; and sister, Micaela Flores.

Wesley E. Krueger
Wesley E. Krueger, 59, of La Vernia, died Monday, Nov. 8, 2004.
He was born Aug. 25, 1945 in Longview to the late Edward Frank Krueger and Lula Merle Knox (formerly of Cuero). He was a general contractor and a member of the Old Chisholm Trail Drivers. He married Judy Hansen on Jan. 28, 1984.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Hansen Krueger of La vernia; sons, Wesley Krueger Jr and wife Paula of Poth and Tyler Krueger of La Vernia; sister, Audrey Brockman of San Antonio; and numerous aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Edward “Brother” Krueger Jr.

Frances Sue Gates, 75, of Del Rio, formerly of Yorktown, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2004.
She was born Feb. 22, 1929, in Nordheim to the late Robert and Alvina Borchers Heldt. She was a Baptist.
Survivors: husband, Richard Gates; son, Francis Roy Wilems of Mission Valley; sisters, Marilyn Korth of Cuero and Violet Gohlke of Corpus Christi; brother, Eddie Heldt of Weesatche; and one grandchild.

A. G. Garrett, 69, of Yoakum, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004.
He was born March 23, 1935 in Fordtran in DeWitt County to the late Jack and Mattie Vick Garrett. He worked as an agricultural teacher with the Yoakum Independent School District for 32 years and was a rancher. He was a member of the Yoakum Lion’s Club and the Masonic Lodge. He was a Baptist.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Loudermilk Garrett; daughters Alison Garrett Adams of Schertz and Jennifer Garrett Crow of Gholson; sons, Randal Garrett of New Braunfels, Kirby garrett of Victoria, Russell Garrett and Phillip Garrett, both of College Station, and Jack Garrett of Cuero; sisters, Margaret Malina and Bessie Lee Hart, both of Victoria, Inez Nobles of Yoakum, and Minnie Mae Haney of Corpus Christi; brothers, Earl Garrett, Sylvan Garrett, and Jake Garrett, all of Yoakum; and 13 grandchildren.

James H. Ostrander, 59, of Meyersville, died Sunday, August 18, 2002.
He was born May 11, 1943, in Watertown, South Dakota, to the late Ray and Hazel Small Ostrander. He was a retired Colonel having served in the United States Army 25 years. He was a Logistics Specialist. He was also a member of the Nursery United Methodist Church.
Survivors: wife, Marilyn Thompson Ostrander of Victoria; sons, Craig Ostrander of Austin and Mark Ostrander of San Antonio; step-daughters, Loria Amsler and Mindi Amsler, both of Edna; step-son, Eric Amsler of San Angelo; sisters, Judy Munlock, Nancy Ostrander and Marge Kauske, all of Watertown, South Dakota; brothers, William "Bill" Ostrander of Minnesota and Ron Ostrander of Montana; and three grandchildren.

Sandra Gail Tolbert
Sandra Gail Tolbert, of Carrollton, went on to be with the Lord on August 20, 2002.
She was born April 9, 1939 in Many, Louisiana to the late D. A. and Fay Davis Hays. She was assistant to the head professor at Texas A&I University in Kingsville. She was a faithful member of Retama Park Baptist Church in Kingsville, First Baptist Church in Spring, and First Baptist Church in Carrollton. She loved her family and was faithfully committed to her Lord Jesus Christ.
Sandra is survived by son, Jay Tolbert of Livingston; daughter, Mary Gail Neermann of Atlanta, Georgia; grandchildren, Brandon and Andrew Neermann of Atlanta, Georgia, Ashley Faulk of Arlington, and James Tolbert of Livingston. Also surviving her are her brothers, Bob Davis and wife Lorraine of Redding, California, John Davis and wife Sharon of Southlake; sister, Rose Taylor and husband Bill of Brentwood, Tennessee; and numerous nieces and nephews. Sandra had countless friends because she was a friend to all.
Sandra was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Jim Tolbert; daughter, Tammy Roberts; and her parents.

Elton A. Koenning
Elton A. Koenning, 70, of Victoria, died Thursday, August 22, 2002.
He was born August27, 1931 in Shiner to the late Adolph and Lillie Stock Koenning. He was a retired operator from Alcoa and a Catholic.
He is survived by daughter, Linda Krause or Victoria; sons, Alan Koenning of Cuero, Gary Koenning of Weesatche, and Michael Koenning of Victoria; sisters, Alice Pany of Temple, Mildred Rebecek of Shiner, and Esther Braun of Houston; brother, Lonnie Koenning of Cuero; 6 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Mary Koenning, and parents.

Mrs. Norma Jean Pena Puentes
Mrs. Norma Jean Pena Puentes passed away peacefully on August 24, 2002 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Norma was born to Eva Zamora Pena and the late Gregory A. Pena on December 1, 1962. Norma grew up in Cuero, later moving to Austin, where she married the love of her life, George Gregory Puentes. Norma was no stranger to anyone, and family to all. She always extended her love to the family. She stood on the foundation of her faith in God.
She is survived her husband of 7 years, George Gregory Puentes; daughter, Dominica Lira; and 2 grandchildren, Brent and Eva Lira; mother, Eva Z. Pena; grandmother, Olivia Zamora; and her siblings, Gregory Pena, Jr., Sylvia Pena, Sandra Kennedy, Dianne Logan, Peter Pena, and Marina Gonzales, and their families.
Family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 29 at the Angel Funeral Home, with the prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday at the Angel Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery.
