Alley Barnett Daniels
Alley Barnett Daniels, died April 22, 2004, at the age of 82.
Born in Houston, he attended the University of Houston and St. Mary’s University. A classical singer, he performed with the Dallas Starlight Opera, San Antonio Meistersingers, and Music Theatre. An erudite man who continued to educate himself, an accountant by profession, he was also a painter, jewelry maker, and poet. A descendent of one of Stephen F. Austin’s Old 300 families and a signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence, he loved history, especially of Texas, and his love of these subjects emerged in his poetry.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, his beloved Margaret Claire Staerker Daniels; his son, Walter Barnett Daniels; son-in-law, Kenneth Dovel; brother, Thomas Barnett Daniels Jr.; and sisters, Veronica McCulloch and Hazel Cheairs.
He is survived by his daughter, Margaret Alicia Daniels of San Antonio; sister-in-law, Corinne Mitchell of Danville, Virginia (formerly of Cuero); his cherished adopted family Ann Nord Blumrich, Don, Ross, and J. D. Blumrich; nieces and nephews; and numerous friends.
Burial will be held in the Staerker plot in Hillside Cemetery in Cuero on Saturday, May 1 at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the San Antonio Symphony or the Metropolitan Opera Association, Lincoln Center, New York, New York 10023.
Ella L. Kerlick
Ella Lee Kerlick, 86, of Yorktown, died Monday, July 5, 2004.
She was born Nov. 29, 1917, in DeWitt County, to the late Fred and Therese Gohlke Menn. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Survivors: daughters, Martha Geffert of Yorktown and Beverly Bruns of Victoria; sons, Clark Kerlick and Morris Kerlick, both of Yorktown; sister, Evangeline Menn of Runge; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: husband, Herman Kerlick.

Kathleen Dixon
Services for Kathleen Dixon, 91, of Lufkin, were held Monday, July 12 at Calvary Baptist Church, Rev. Jimmy Hedges officiated. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Mrs. Dixon was born January 13, 1913, in Clewson, Angelina County, the daughter of Nancy Emoline (Reynolds) and James Hansel Hinson. She died Saturday, July 3, 2004, in a Lufkin hospital.
Mrs. Dixon graduated as salutatorian from El Dorado High School in El Dorado, Arkansas, and attended Saterwhite Business College in Lufkin. She helped found and operate Dixon Furniture Store for 28 years, where she served as bookkeeper.
Mrs. Dixon served as a pianist and Sunday School teacher for 43 years in various churches. She was a Charter Member and pianist at Uvalde Baptist Church in Houston, and a past member and pianist at Clawson Baptist Church. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lufkin, where she also served as a Sunday School teacher, WMU President, and pianist. Mrs. Dixon was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Rebekah Lodge.
Survivors include her son, Ardie Dixon and Guessna of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Lynn Cavin of Matthews, North Carolina; son and daughter-in-law, Dickie and Jana Dixon of Lufkin; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Mrs. Dixon was preceded in death by her parents; son, Dr. Don Dixon of Cuero; husband, Hershel Dixon Sr.; four brothers; and three sisters.
Visitation was Sunday, July 11 at Gipson-Metcalf Funeral Home.

Edna Pauline Gisler Jarvis
Edna Pauline Gisler Jarvis, 87, born March 27, 1917 in Weser to Amalie Seiler Gisler and Alois Gisler, passed away Friday, July 9, 2004 in Houston after a brief illness.
Edna was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Ander. Descended from early German settlers who immigrated to Texas in 1845, Edna was a fourth generation Texan. Two husbands, the first Alois Leon Ohrt and second husband, Russell Jarvis, preceded her in death. Of the union with Alois Ohrt, a daughter, Edith Ohrt Ralls and a son, Alois Leon Ohrt Jr. (deceased) were born. Edith Ohrt Ralls and her husband Billy D. Ralls survive her.
Also surviving are stepchildren, Robert Jarvis and Becky Jarvis Stafford; five grandchildren, Kimberly Ralls, Christine Ralls Spanos, Darrell Ohrt, and Karen Ohrt Tracy and Kathryn Ohrt Szalasny; step-grandchildren, Misty Jarvis, Rusty Jarvis, Ryan Morris, and Carrie Morris; ten great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are brother, Elwood Gisler and sisters, Della Abrameit, Rubie Gisler, and Aldeen Marr.

Willie M. Rudd
Willie Mae Rudd, 85, of Cuero, died Saturday, July 10, 2004.
She was born June 18, 1919 in Troup to the late Herbert and Willie Owens Thompson. She was a communication supervisor at Driscoll Children’s Hospital.
She is survived by her sons, Dennis Haire of Glenwood, Iowa, James Haire of Tyler, Virgil Rudd Jr. of Sugarland, and John Rudd of Cuero; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Virgil Rudd; parents; and brother, Herbert Owens Thompson.

Lester E. Coleman
Lester E. Coleman, 49, of Victoria, died Sunday, July11, 2004.
He was born Dec. 20, 1954 in Freer to the Doreen “Pat” Rhame Hennesey of Yorktown and the late Luther E. Coleman. He was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the U .S. Navy and a driller.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Asbury Coleman; daughter Sheri McVety of Michigan; sons, Monty Key of Cuero, Brandon Coleman of Victoria; and Guy Coleman of Raymonville; mother; sisters, Judith Cox of Victoria and Sandra Janacek of Yorktown; brother, Michael Shoemake of Texas; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father; step-father, John “Joe” Hennesey; and daughter, Crystal Gayle Coleman.
Visitation was Tuesday, July 13 at Grace Funeral Home Chapel in Victoria. Services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Raymond Lee Bowen
Raymond Lee "Ray" Bowen, 55, of Cuero, died Thursday, November 7, 2002.
He was born December 25, 1946, in Cuero, to Sibyl Stevens Bowen of Cuero and the late John D. Bowen. He was owner-operator of Bowen Sand and Gravel and had worked for Schwans for eleven years. He was a member of the Church of Christ and had served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors: wife, Elizabeth Trevino Bowen of Cuero; daughters, Teresa Ann Evans of Austin and April Bowen of Tacoma, Washington; step-daughters, Alisha Mungia and Michelle Anzualda, both of Victoria; son, Carl Raymond Bowen of Cuero; step-son, Valerio Mungia Jr. of Yorktown; mother; sister, Diane Blaschke of Cuero; brothers, Doug Bowen of Mareno Valley, California, and Bill Bowen of Corpus Christi; and seven grandchildren.

Pearl B. Anzaldua, 68, of Yoakum, died November 9, 2002.
She was born in DeWitt County on March 20, 1934 to the late Frank and Paula Rosales Beltran. She was a homemaker and a Catholic.
She is survived by daughters, Ruby Maldonado and husband Jimmy of Yoakum and Lucy Puente of Yoakum; sisters, Elois Beltran and Carol Garcia of Edgar; brother, Augustine Beltran of El Campo; and grandsons, Jimmy Maldonado Jr. and Johnny Puente.
She was preceded in death by husband, Pete Anzaldua; parents; and brothers, Sam Beltran, Frank Beltran, and Mike Beltran.

Iola Dell Kenne
Iola Dell Kenne, 92, of Yorktown, died Saturday, November 9, 2002.
She was born March 6, 1910, in Bexar County, to the late John A. and Ruth Curry Gifford. She was a farmer and a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Survivors: daughter, Dorothy Thieme of Nordheim; sons, Wilbur Kenne and James Kenne, both of Yorktown, and Clifton Kenne of Cuero; sisters, Nan Jestina Gallant of Medina and Edna Earl Hill of Haltom City; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: husband, Herman F. Kenne; son, Herman L. Kenne; parents; sisters, Elizabeth Willetts and Electa Lee Wisdom; brother, Henry A. Gifford; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

William R. Dobson III
William Richard Dobson III, 33, of Nordheim, died Friday, November 8, 2002.
He was born May 4, 1969, in Hawaii, to William R. II and Mary Ann Von Heuvel Dobson of Nordheim. He graduated from Yorktown High School and Bee County College. He was 2nd Counselor and member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Yorktown. He served on a mission in Ogden, Utah, and was a free lance artist.
Survivors: parents; sisters, Taylor Marie Ann Dobson of College Station and Laura Brandi Ann Dennis of Victoria; and grandmothers, Frances Dobson of Pettus and Lucille Custer of Sinton.
Preceded in death by: grandfather, William R. Dobson.

Carolyn B. Hebert
Carolyn B. Hebert, 103, of Cuero, passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2003.
She was born in Yorktown on July 10, 1900 to the late John and Frances Bock Burda. She attended Holy Cross Catholic School in Yorktown and Durham’s Business College in San Antonio. She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Cuero.
Mrs. Hebert was a stenographer for her husband, the honorable Stephen P. Hebert, who was the DeWitt County Attorney and Judge. While in DeWitt County, she filled in as a Court Reporter in District Court. She also held an administrative job in Austin in the office of State Representative Terry Newman. Mrs. Hebert later wrote and distributed checks for the Cuero Livestock Commission Co., and was secretary and typist for Garrett Abstract, Cuero Community Hospital, and Linwood Place. She also served in the Civil Service in the Air Corps. Mrs. Hebert enjoyed ranching and her cattle.
She is survived by her sons, Stephen Hebert and E. A. (Andy Hebert, both of Victoria; 6 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen P. Hebert; son, Alfred E. Hebert; parents; sisters, Jo Sullivan, Marie Hennig, Adele Burda, and Dorothy Burda; and brothers, Nic Burda, Ladis Burda, and Frank Burda.
Visitation was Thursday, July 24 at Freund Funeral Home, followed by a rosary at the funeral home chapel. The funeral Mass was held Friday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, the Rev. Kirby Hlavaty officiated. Burial followed at Hillside Cemetery. Freund Funeral Home, Cuero, 361-275-2343.

Carl L. Boldt
Carl L. Boldt, 85, of Yorktown, died Sunday, July 20, 2003.
He was born May 14, 1918, in Yorktown to the late August and Rose Zielonka Boldt. He was a TV technician. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U. S. Navy and a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church.
Survivors: wife, Doris Wagner Boldt; daughters, Terri Deosdade of San Antonio and Monica Kilgore of Stafford; sons, Bill Boldt of Yorktown and John Boldt of Flower Mound; sister, Cecilia Angermiller of Ijamsville, Md.; brother, Edwin Boldt of Victoria; and six grandchildren.
