Edward Fred Koenig
Edward Fred Koenig, born November 9, 1916, in Arneckeville, to Fred and Ottilie Koenig, passed away on July 19, 2003, at the age of 86.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice Irene Huebner Koenig; daughter, Mary Fay Petri; and parents.
He is survived by his wife, Marcella A. Koenig; daughters, Ida Genell Slay of San Antonio and Tela Mae Dawson of Midland; sons, Edward F. Koenig Jr. of Cedar Creek and John R. Koenig of Poteet; 20 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; and 9 step-great-grandchildren.
Edward retired from Southern Pacific Railroad in 1976.
Visitation was held Tuesday, July 22 at Schertz Funeral Home in Schertz, followed by a rosary. A funeral Mass was said Wednesday, July 23 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Schertz, Msgr. Robbins officiated. Burial was at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Fritz A. Riedesel
Fritz A. Riedesel, 82, of Yorktown, died Saturday, July 26, 2003.
He was born Nov. 20, 1920, in Yorktown, to the late Herman E. and Mary Schmidt Riedesel. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a derrick hand in the oilfield and lumberyard in Yorktown. He was a member of Sons of Hermann Lodge and St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Survivors: son, Lloyd Riedesel of Victoria; sister, Olivia Janssen of Yorktown; brothers, John Riedesel of Westhoff, Herman Riedesel, Wilfred Riedesel, and Roland Riedesel, all of Yorktown; and four grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: wife, Katherine Riedesel; sister, Pauline Metting; and grandson, Aaron Riedesel.

Ora G. Campbell
Ora G. Campbell, 65, of Cuero, passed away Thursday, July 24, 2003.
She was born January 13, 1938 in Cuero to the late Gusta and Helen Gillie Odom. She was a homehealth provider and a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son, Rev. William J. Campbell of Houston, and step-brother, Gus Odom of Cuero.

J. S. Holland Sr.
J. S. Holland Sr., 83, of Houston, formerly of Cuero, died Sept. 30, 2003.
He was born in Kenedy on December 23, 1919 to the late Joseph Sheffield and Callie Taylor Holland. He served in the Army during World War II and was a painting contractor. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
He is survived by his sons, J. Selmon Holland Jr. of Juneau, Alaska, William J. Holland of Corpus Christi, and Deryl L. Holland and Roger D. Holland, both of Houston; sister, Frankie Lou Hare of Texas City; and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Mae Karm Holland; parents; sisters, Cathy Stewart, Ella Mae Atkinson, Ethyl White, and Lorene B. Pahmiyer; and brother, Clarence T. Holland.

Charles A. Blank
Charles A. Blank, 76, of Cedar Pond Drive, a former patent attorney, died Saturday at Cedar Crest Nursing Centre, Cranston, New York.
He was the husband of Kathleen M. (MacElroy) Blank. They had been married for 53 years. Born in New York City, a son of the late Arthur J. and Consuelo (dePasquale) Bank, he had lived in Huntington Station, New York, before moving to Warwick three years ago.
Mr. Blank had been a patent attorney and Counsel for Felfe and Lynch Law Offices, New York, for 15 years, retiring in 1996. He had previously worked as a patent attorney for Hazeltine Electronics, and at Arthur, Dry and Kalish Law Offices, both in New York City, for many years.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
He graduated from Yale University in 1946 with a degree in electrical engineering. He also graduated from Fordham University Law School in 1952.
He was a former member of the Holy Name Society and a lector at St. Hugh of Lincoln Church, Huntington Station. He was also a member of the Yale Club of New York.
Besides his wife, he leaves four sons, Charles A. Blank of Cuero, Peter J. Blank of Riverhead, New York, Christopher P. Blank of Sleepy Hollow, New York, and Laurence A. Blank of Centerport, New York; three daughters, Jeanne M. Stowe and Mary Kaye B. Stewart, both of Salt Point, New York, and Kathleen M. Blank-Cicala; a brother, Arthur J. Blank Jr. of Stamford, Connecticut; four sisters, Marie Blank of Mamaroneck, New York, Lola Sullivan of Phelham, New York, Paula Fearn of North Hampton, Massachusetts, and Peggy Murphy of Wilton, Connecticut; 23 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Philip Blank.
The funeral was held Wednesday, Sept. 24 at Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Rd, Route 117, Warwick, Rhode Island. Mass of Christian Burial was at St. Rita Church, Oakland Beach Avenue in Warwick. Burial with military honors will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence, Rhode Island.

Valdamar Gonzales
Valdamar "V.P." Gonzales, 65, of Yorktown, and formerly of Victoria, died Friday, Oct. 3, 2003.
He was born Feb. 24, 1938, in Floresville, to Elena Perales Gonzales of Telferner and to the late Justo Gonzales. He was former owner and operator of Sunrise Homes and Gonzales Masonry. He was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church.
Survivors: companion, Martha Valenzuela of Yorktown; ex-wife, Minga Dunn of Victoria; daughters, Yolanda Ortiz of Yorktown and Christina Poncio of Victoria; sons, Edward Gonzales of Yorktown, Ernest Gonzales of San Antonio and David Gonzales of Victoria; stepson, Johnny Valenzuela of Yorktown; sisters, Pauline Ramirez of San Jose, California, Pilar Gonzales of Yorktown, Sally Ortega, Oralia Garcia and Almelia Olguin, all of Telferner, and Alma Reyes of Victoria; brothers, Raymond Gonzales of Victoria and Alfredo Gonzales of Houston; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Preceded in death by: sister, Mary Elena Gonzales; and grandson, Eric Ray Lewis.

Jewel Louis Miller
Jewel Louis Miller slipped the bonds of Earth on Sunday morning, October 5,2003 and returned home to her heavenly family.
Jewel was the first of five children born to Ida Mae Bricker and John Herbert West. She was born in Leesville on August 24, 1914.
She retired to Kerrville after the death of her husband in 1978.
She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, her loving husband Lenard and two brothers, Horace and Donald West.
She is survived by two sisters, June Spencer of Harper and Johni Mae Easterwood of Aransas Pass. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and a host of loving friends and long ago students whose lives she touched very deeply.
Jewel knew all of her life that she would be a teacher and fulfilled that dream by teaching first graders for 47 years. She began teaching at 18 years of age in Cheapside. She taught students in Cuero and Eldorado, then moved on to teach in Cloudcroft and Hobbs, New Mexico.
Jewel was a lifelong member of the Baptist Church and was very active in the Meals on Wheels Program as well as Friends of the Library. She belonged to the order of the Eastern Star and the Daughters of the Republic of Texas.
She will be laid to rest alongside her husband at the Belleview Cemetery in Cheapside on Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 1 p.m. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Grimes Funeral Chapels of Kerrville, 830-257-4544.
Gertrude Kolodziejczyk
Gertrude Kolodziejczyk, 88, of Yorktown, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003.
She was born March 17, 1915, in Yorktown, to the late Florian Sr. and Mary Migura Guzy. She was a homemaker and member of Holy Cross Catholic Church.
Survivors: daughter, Rita Badough of Victoria; son, Daniel Kolodziejczyk of La Salle; sister, Margie Kuhn of San Antonio; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: husband, Joseph Kolodziejczyk; sister, Lucy Tam; brothers, Florian Guzy Jr., Philip Guzy, Herman Guzy, Joe Guzy, Albert Guzy, and John Guzy.

Kay Roeder
Kay Roeder, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend departed this life and went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 3, 2003.
Kay was born to Freeman and Ruth Chandler on November 22, 1938 in Palestine, Texas. She and her family moved to Yorktown in 1955. There she met and married Richard J. Roeder in August of 1960. Kay loved to keep her ties to Yorktown by visiting her mother-in-law Willo Jackson Roeder, brother-in-law Edward Roeder and his wife Donna. Kay's greatest happiness was to be surrounded by her family, friends and pets. People, especially children, were drawn to Kay and captured by her warmth, her understanding, her acceptance and her love. Her family and friends would say that she was all of these - our mother, our doctor, our psychiatrist, and our confessor. All of us had homes, but when we needed to "go home", we went to Kay's.
Kay is survived by her husband, Richard J. Roeder; twin sister, Gay Oliver and husband Gale Oliver; aunt, Frankie Colliston; son, Ron Roeder and wife Tina; son, Rick Roeder and wife Barbara; daughter, Scarlet Barksdale and husband Tom; and daughter, Shannan Kane and husband Alan; and granddaughters, Audrey, Andie, Megan and Alex Roeder and Chandler Barksdale.
Visitation was Friday, Dec. 5 at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. A memorial Service was held Saturday at the Chapel of Second Baptist Church, 6400 Woodway Drive, Houston.

She was born May 20, 1921 to the late Porfirio and Gertrudis Perez. She was a homemaker and a Catholic.
She is survived be her daughter, Isabel Elizabeth Perez of Cuero, and one grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Silvestra Cuellar, Ambrosia Luera, Margarita Perez, Mercedes Perez, Victoria Villarreal, and Agnes Perez; and brothers, Porfirio Perez and Tomas Perez.

Donald Ray Stirneman, 43, of Cuero, died Sunday, April 11, 2004.
He was born Nov. 12, 1960, in Cuero, to Patsy York Stirneman of Cuero and the late Edgar Stirneman. He was the owner of Landmark Designs and a member of the Texas Nursery and Landscaper Association.
