Ray Sheffield
Ray Sheffield, age 40, a longtime resident of Kerrville, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 6 in Pensacola, Florida.
He was born Nov. 1, 1963 in Yoakum to Theodore Sheffield Jr. and Ida (Perner) Sheffield. On July 29, 1995, he married Janice Jung in Kerrville. Ray was the owner of AA Tree Service in Kerrville.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Sheffield of Kerrville; mother, Ida Sheffield of Cuero; sisters, Lynn Stirneman and husband, Robbie of Cuero, Brenda Robinson and husband, Bubba of Cuero, and Ann Goodman and husband, Lonnie of Ingram; brothers, Johnny Sheffield and wife, Suzanne of Cuero and Charlie A. Sheffield of Conroe; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Erwin and Addie Jung of Ingram; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Visitation was held Sunday, Oct. 10 at Grimes Funeral Chapels. Services were held Monday at Grimes Funeral Chapels and was officiated by Pastor Troy Way of the New Beginnings Church of Boerne. Interment followed at Garden of Memories Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Grimes Funeral Chapels of Kerrville.

Grace S. Flynt
Grace S. Flynt, 97, of Del Rio, passed away Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004 at a local nursing home.
She was born Aug. 24, 1907 in Yorktown, and graduated from Yorktown High School. She married George Moore Flynt in 1926 and moved to Del Rio in 1928. Her husband preceded her in death on March 15, 1979. She was a member of the Methodist Church since 1961 and she was a Sunday School Teacher and she was very active in Women’s organizations.
Survivors are her nieces and nephews, Bob Neumayer of Kenedy; Rick Neumayer of Kerens; Brenda Wellmeyer of Spring; Mike Grafton of Georgetown; Kathy Simecek of San Antonio; Marcia Alex of Victoria; and Ray Simecek of Seguin.
Preceded in death by her sisters, DeLoris Strieber Neumayer; A. Marie Strieber Simecek; and Idell Strieber Grafton; brother, Felton Strieber; and a nephew, Gerry Strieber.
Visitation was Tuesday, Oct.18 at G. W. Cox Memorial Funeral Chapel. Funeral Services were also Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church, Rev. Paul May officiated. Interment followed at Runge City Cemetery, Runge, Texas. Funeral Services were under the direction of G. W. Cox Memorial Funeral Home of Del Rio LTD, 114 Fletcher Dr.

Pete P. Slovacek Sr.
Pete Paul Slovacek Sr., 85, of Cuero, passed away Monday, January 20, 2003.
He was born June 29, 1917, in Sweet Home, to the late Joseph and Milla Baros Slovacek. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He was a turkey farmer and rancher. He worked for Cuero I.S.D. in maintenance for 15 years. He enjoyed his past four years at Whispering Oaks Nursing Center. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church.

Beatrice Valdez, 73, of Nordheim, died Monday, January 20, 2003.
She was born September 19, 1929, in Yorktown, to the late Seropio and Maria Garza Salinas. She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church and the Rosary Society. She was a homemaker.
Survivors: daughters, Irene Vasquez of Yoakum, Anita Valdez of Port Lavaca, Lillie Garza of Rosenberg and Janie Gonzales of Katy; sons, Leonardo Valdez Jr. of Escondido, California, Alfred Valdez and Daniel Valdez, both of Richmond, and Robert Valdez of Nordheim; sisters, Santos Garza and Mary Garza, both of Lamesa, Minnie Longoria and Lupe Rios, both of San Antonio, Sarah Flores of Richmond, Sobida Longoria of Kenedy, Eluira Ortega and Felicita Salinas, both of Victoria, and Janie Garcia of Nordheim; brothers, Roy Salinas of Lamesa, Jesse Salinas of Kenedy and Seropio Salinas Jr. of Nixon; 18 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Richard D. Gott Jr.
Richard Douglas Gott Jr., 36, of Port Neches, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004.
Richard was a native of Del Rio, and lived in Port Neches for 18 years. He was an electrician with the IBEW Local in Beaumont for 12 years.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Anna Gott; daughters, Ashley Gott, Hali Gott, and Amberly Gott, all of Port Neches; son, Brayden Gott, of Port Neches; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Gott Sr. of Cuero; sisters, Diane Wilson of Brackettville, Kathy Hamilton of Cuero, and Vickie Hicks of New Boston; and brothers, Jimmy Timpone of Victoria, Scott Timpone of Spring, and Shawn Gott of Meyersville.Visitation was Thursday, Sept. 30 at Broussard’s Mortuary Chapel in Nederland. Dominga Solis, 84, of Cuero, died Wednesday, July 16, 2003.
She was born March 23, 1919, in Kenedy, to the late Juan and Maria DeHoyos Villa. She was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
Survivors: daughter, Helen Saenz of Cuero; step-daughters, Victoria Garcia of San Antonio and Anita Alonzo of Bovina; sons, Juan Solis, Ruben Solis, and Jimmy Solis, all of Cuero; sisters, Jesusa Quintana of Edinburg and Delores Salinas of Houston; brother, Manuel Villa of Cuero; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Leroy H. Buelter
Leroy Henry Buelter, 72, of Yorktown, died Saturday, July 19, 2003.
He was born March 23, 1931, in Yorktown, to the late Henry and Pauline Meuret Buelter. He retired from the Air Force and Yorktown Fire Department. He worked from CP&L and Marine Drilling, and served on Yorktown City Council for 10 years. He was a member of the Yorktown VFW, Yorktown Hermann Sons Lodge and was a Lutheran.
Survivors: wife, Freida Wagenschein Buelter; daughter, Paula Buelter Mason of San Antonio; son, Kenneth W. Buelter of Sarco; sister, Nina G. Bridges of Beaumont; and five grandchildren.

Manuel Villa Sr., 87, of Cuero, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004.
He was born May 20, 1917, in Yorktown, to the late Juan and Maria Dehoyos Villa. He was a farmer and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

Joseph J. "Jodie" Cleveland Jr., 62, of Cuero, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004.
He was born Jan. 19, 1942, in Hornersville, Missouri, to the late Joseph Jerome Sr. and Kitty Adkins Cleveland. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a vendor.
Survivors: daughters, Anna Patton of Cuero and Lona Haile of Gonzales; son, Shane Cleveland of Cuero; stepsons, David Vaclavik of Wharton and Kenneth Vaclavik of Los Angeles, California; sister, Barbara Mobley of Cuero; four grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

Jimmie Daniel Land
Jimmie Daniel Land, 82, of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, died Friday, Oct. 8, 2004 at Washington Regional Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 17, 1922 at O’Donald to Luther and Sarah Hutchinson land. He was a member of Farmington Family Worship Center in Farmington and a U.S. Army World War II veteran.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ruby Land; sons, Jim Land of Lockhart, Don Land and wife Debbie of Yakima, Washington, and Kenny Land and wife Mary of Bastrop; daughters, Linda Cartwright and husband James of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, and Barbara Smith of Fayetteville, Arkansas; brother, Charlie Land and wife Opheila of Ontario, California; sisters, Naiomi Williams and husband Earl of Florida and Fanny Waldrep of Oregon; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Edgar, David, and Wiley Land, and his parents.
Visitation was Monday, Oct. 11 at Moore’s Chapel in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Services were Tuesday at Farmington Family Worship Center, Pastor Lloyd Bayley and the Revs. Rick Daniels and Dale Tafoya officiated. Mark Daniel Kelley
Mark Daniel Kelley, age 50, passed away in San Antonio on Sept. 22, 2004 after a long battle with cancer.
Mark was born to Russell W. and Jo Clare Davis Kelley in Abilene on May 6, 1954. he was a graduate of Pleasanton High School Class of 1973 and attended Texas A&I from 1974 until 1976, he then graduated from Barber College. On Sept. 13, 1980, he married Barbara Farr and for many years was a barber in Pleasanton. He served sometimes as song leader with Pleasanton Church of Christ, Jefferson Church of Christ, and the Lytle Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his father, Russell W. Kelley, and is survived by his wife, Barbara Farr Kelley, and daughter, April Kelley, both of San Antonio. Also surviving is his mother, Jo Clare and step-father, Denzil McMurrey, and sister, Jo Beth Kelley, all of Cuero; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jonathan and Dralena Kelley of Pleasanton and Dennie and Amber McMurrey of Cuero; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held Friday, Sept. 24 at Pleasanton City Cemetery, with Minister Sammy Swim of Jefferson Church of Christ in San Antonio officiating. Funeral services were entrusted to the Tri-City Funeral Home in Jourdanton, Thomas A. Lange, Funeral Director.
Georgia F. Stuart
Georgia Faye Stuart, 72, of Yorktown, died Friday, March 18, 2005.
She was born Oct. 16, 1932, in DeWitt County, to Velma Stanchos of Yorktown and the late George Stanchos. She was a retired teacher and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Survivors: husband, Troy Stuart; sons, Randy Stuart of Fort Worth and Craig Stuart of Victoria; sister, Shirley Crain of Cuero; and five grandchildren.

She was born Dec. 13, 1902 in DeWitt County to the late Basil Jackson and Aurelia Rackley Killingsworth. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joshua C. “Tom” Peebles, and her parents.
