Genevieve L. Knox

Genevieve Lauer Knox, 72, of Cuero, died Saturday, March 19, 2005.
She was born Jan. 9, 1933, in Yoakum, to the late Joseph Adolph and Virginia Mary Albrecht Lauer. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, American Legion Auxiliary Post 3, and D.A.V.
Survivors: daughter, Carol Ann Koenig of Houston; sons, Joseph V. Knox Jr., William E. Knox Sr., David W. Knox Sr., and Michael A. Knox Sr., all of Cuero; sisters, Madlene Nickel of Yoakum, Virginia Fitch of Kilgore, and Jean M. Trammel of Victoria; brother, Joseph Lauer of Yoakum; 24 grandchildren; and 39 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: husband, Joseph V. Knox; parents; sisters, Roberta Rohan, Lorene Macha, and Gladys Hoffer; brothers, Robert Lauer and Bernie Lauer; and one grandson.
A rosary will be recited Sunday, March 20 at Freund Funeral Home Chapel. Services were Monday at the funeral home, the Rev. Kirby Hlavaty officiated. Burial was at St. Joseph Cemetery in Yoakum. Freund Funeral Home, Cuero, 361-275-2343.

Consuelo E. Campos

Consuelo Esparza Campos, 63, of Cuero, died Saturday, March 19, 2005.
She was born Dec. 19, 1941 in Lane City to the late Marcelo and Tiburcia Barron Esparza. She was a seamstress, a former Nurse’s Aide at Retama Manor West and Cuero Community Hospital, and a care giver at Gulf Bend Center. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband, Lasaro Campos of Cuero; daughters Sylvia Luna of Yoakum, Sandra Campos of Bay City, and Doris Campos of Cuero; son, Brian Keith Campos of Cuero; sisters, Martina Saenz of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Mary Campbell of Houston; brothers, Domingo Esparza of Mt. Pleasant, Felix Esparza, Lorenzo Esparza, and Marcelo Esparza, all of Louisville, Kentucky, Victor Esparza of Wharton; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Julia Esparza; and brother, Manuel Esparza.
A Rosary was recited Tuesday, March 22 at 7 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, March 23 at 2 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery in Cuero. Freund Funeral Home, Cuero, 361-275-2343.
Pallbearers: Elmo Munoz, Will Pick, Elvis Costello, Daniel Campos, Samuel Campos, and Jairus Herring.

Lucille Tips

Lucille Tips, 88, of Yorktown, died Sunday, July 7, 2002.
She was born Sept. 25, 1913, in DeWitt County, to the late Henry and Alma Goehring Buesing. She graduated from Our Lady of the Lake College and Southwest Texas State University. She was a retired school teacher and a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors: nephews, Wayne Fromme of Cuero and Kenneth Fromme of Victoria.
Preceded in death by: husband, Werner U. Tips; parents; sister, Iva Fromme; and brothers, Emil Buesing and Alfred Buesing.
Family visitation was Thursday, July 11 at Lamprecht-Janssen Funeral Home chapel. Services were Friday at the funeral home chapel, the Rev. W. P. Menn officiated. Burial was at Nordheim Cemetery. Lamprecht-Janssen Funeral Home, Yorktown, 361-564-2277.

Mildred Pump

Mildred Pump, 81, of Boerne, died Friday, July 12, 2002.
She was born December 29, 1921 in Cuero to the late Arnold and Esther Utesch Gohlke.
Survivors include her son, Ray Pump of Medina; daughter, Dorothy Buehring of Port Lavaca; sisters, Melva Behrens of Glydon, MN, Arnelda Carter and Helen Koenig, of Cuero; sister-in-law, Rosa Lee Fritz; eight grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husband, Raymond Pump; and parents.
Gravside services were held in Kerrville.

Alfredo Gomez

Alfredo Gomez, 64, of Yorktown, died Monday, July 8, 2002.
He was born January 23, 1938, in Yorktown, to the late Natividad and Rosalia Corpus Gomez. He was a member of San Luis Catholic Church in Yorktown.
Survivors: sisters, Carolina Salinas of Yorktown and Beatrice Saenx of Dallas; half-sister, Lupe Monroe of Victoria; and brothers, Robert Gomez of Victoria and Joe Gomez of Kingmond, Ariz.
A rosary was recited Tuesday, July 9 at Lamprecht-Janssen Funeral Home chapel. Services were Wednesday at San Luis Catholic Church, the Rev. Augustine Nsiah Asante officiated. Burial was at San Luis Cemetery. Lamprecht-Janssen Funeral Home, Yorktown, 361-564-2277.

Jesus Villarreal

Jesus Villarreal, 67, of Yorktown, died Sunday, July 7, 2002.
He was born April 17, 1935, in Yorktown, to Alvino Villarreal and Alvina Berckenhoff. He was a mechanic in the Automotive Field and a member of San Luis Catholic Church.
Survivors: wife, Elva Pena Villarreal; daughter, Linda Gallegos of Houston; sons, Daniel Villarreal of Texas City, Jesse Villarreal of Cuero and Richard Villarreal and Johnny Michael Villarreal, both of Yorktown; sister, Christina Reyna of Yorktown; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: brothers, Alvino Villarreal Jr., George Villarreal, Nicholas Villarreal and Trinidad Villarreal.

Tammy Roberts

Tammy Roberts, 40, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2002, in Arlington.
Tammy was born July 8, 1962 in Corsicana. She had been an Arlington resident for the last three years and was a prior resident of Houston and Cuero. She was formerly a paralegal for Davis and Roberts Law Firm. In recent years, following her marriage to Ronald Roberts, she was a housewife. She worked in Houston, documenting Yachts before moving to Arlington.
She is survived by husband, Ronald Roberts of Arlington; daughter, Ashley Faulk of Arlington; mother Gail Tolbert of Carrollton; brother, Jay Tolbert of Livingston; sister, Mary Gail Neerman of Carrollton.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jimmy Tolbert.
Visitation was Friday, July 12 at Moore Funeral Home in Arlington. Funeral services were Saturday at Moore Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at Moore Memorial Gardens in Arlington. Moore Funeral Home, N Davis Drive, Arlington, (817) 275-2711.

Jonathan S. Clower

Jonathan Shelby Clower III, 79, of Cuero, died Wednesday, July 10, 2002.
He was born January 17, 1923, in Paducah, to the late Jonathan Shelby II and Virginia Gafford Clower. He was a musician and a member of VFW No. 3278 in Brownwood and Disabled America Veterans.
Survivors: wife, Velma Clower; daughters, Modena Lee Hamby of Nevada, Julia Faye Vickery of Olivia and Jonnie Jo Ryan of Denver; step-daughter, Cherry L. Lawson of Skidmore; sisters, Virginia Briggs of Mohave Valley, Ariz., Mary Simmons of Needles, Calif. And Alice Gazaway of Austin; brothers, Earl Clower of Sacramento, Calif. And Ervin Clower of Gladewater; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: first wife, Geneva Geaslin Clower; step-daughter, Karen Alice Thompson; brother, Carl William Clower; and parents.

Lydia Hengst

Lydia Hengst, 98, of Yorktown, died Saturday, July 6, 2002.
She was born March 18, 1904, in Fayette County, to the late Adolph and Annie Ermler Jaeger.
She was a retired nurse's aide at Yorktown Nursing and Rehab Center. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Survivors: daughters, Doris Alston of San Antonio and Inez Bues of Victoria; son, Wilbert Hengst of Yorktown; brother, Albert Jaeger of Victoria; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: husband, Edwin Hengst; sisters, Hulda Jaeger, Olga Jaeger Hengst, Milda Jaeger Hengst and Lillie Jaeger; and brothers, Adolph Jaeger Jr., Adam Jaeger and Edmond Jaeger.

Robert Jackson

Robert Jackson, 63, of Cuero, died Saturday, July 13, 2002.
He was born August 26, 1938 in Thomaston to the late Cato Sr. and Julia Barnes Jackson. He was a ranch hand.
He is survived by daughters, Sharon McGee of Houston and Robbi Jackson of Austin; son, Terry Jackson of Austin; sisters, Hilda Tucker, Rose Henderson, and Calli Williams, all of Cuero, and Virginia Sanders of New Jersey; brothers, Cato Jackson Jr. of Cuero, Tillman Jackson of Thomaston, Jerry Jackson of San Antonio, and Charles Jackson of Bloomington; and seven grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Caroline Jackson.
The Funeral service will be Friday, July 19 at 2 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Lou Terry Jackson officiating. Burial will be at Thomaston Cemetery. Freund Funeral Home, Cuero, 361-275-2343.

Walter Lee Saunders

Walter Lee Saunders, 56, of Cuero, died Thursday, August 8, 2002.
He was born on February 15, 1946 in Yorktown to William R. and Esther Machost Saunders. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Cuero and was employed with Brentex Mills for eleven years.
Walter was a true blue fighter. He fought that strange thing, cancer, for such a long time. He was always a hard worker for his family. Working many days at Brentex Mills when his body said no, he just worked harder. His life was his family and friends whom he loved truly. He was always there trying his best in what he thought was right. He and his wife, Kathryn, were married almost 34 years. His grandchildren called Walter their “Pa” and he really loved to see them come over. They will always be his 2 little angels.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Mae Squyres Saunders of Cuero; daughter, Kelli LeAnn Saunders of Cuero; son, Sam Saunders of Yorktown; sisters Billie Jo Fellers of Cuero ad Betty Ann Buckenhoff of Yoakum; brothers, William R. Saunders of Mathis, Marvin J. Saunders of Edna, Jerry Wayne Saunders and James Ray Saunders, both of Yorktown; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Kathryn LeAnn Saunders.
Visitation was Saturday, August 10 at Freund Funeral Home. Services were Sunday at Freund Funeral Home chapel, Brother George Yarbough officiated. Burial was at Westside Cemetery in Yorktown. Freund Funeral Home, Cuero, 361-275-2343.

Chris Baker

Chris Baker, 19, of Keller, was killed in a plane crash on August 6, 2002.
He was born January 31, 1983 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to John and Patricia Eichholz Baker. He was attending Texas Christian University (TCU) on a music scholarship and was a member of the TCU marching band. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Keller.
He is survived by his parents, John and Patricia Eichholz Baker of Keller; sister, Amanda Baker of Keller; brothers, John C. Baker of Keller and James W. Baker of Austin; paternal grandmother, Frieda Baker of Hobbs, New Mexico; maternal grandparents, Norvan and Gertrude Eichholz of Cuero.
Funeral Mass was held Monday, August 12 at St. Michael’s Catholic CHurch, Rev. Johnson Owusu-Boateng officiated. Burial was at Hillside Cemetery, Cuero. Freund Funeral Home, Cuero, 361-275-2343.
Pallbearers: J. P. Eichholz, Troy Klaus, Larry Klaus, Rayburn Haynie, Bill Eichholz, David Arndt, Colton Eichholz.

Eugene Raymond Dworaczyk

Eugene Raymond Dworaczyk, 74, of Seguin, died August 7, 2002.
A funeral mass was held Saturday, August 10, at St. James Catholic Church, 510 S. Camp St., Seguin, Msgr. Gerald Hubertus officiated. Interment followed in St. James Cemetery. A Rosary service was held Friday, August 9 at Goetz Memorial Chapel. Visitation will was at Goetz Funeral Home on Friday. Arrangements by Goetz Funeral Home, 713 N. Austin St. Seguin, TX 78155 (830) 379-2313.
Mr. Dworaczyk was born August 31, 1927 in DeWitt County to Frank Dworaczyk, Sr. and Frances (Jendry) Dworaczyk. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He retired from the Lone Star Brewing Company in San Antonio. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife Louise Dworaczyk of Seguin; son David Dworaczyk and wife Mary of Bryan; daughter Kathy Dworaczyk of Seguin; step-daughter Pamela Dunson and husband William of Houston; 5 step-grandchildren; sister Margaret Brysch of San Antonio; sister Theresa Warwas and husband Victor of Meyersville; brother Frank Dworaczyk and wife Patricia of Yorktown and sister Patricia Barton and husband Ray of Victoria.
Mr. Dworaczyk was preceded in death by his first wife Mildred Dworaczyk and a sister Laurine Dworaczyk.
Pallbearers were Matthew Warwas, Alan Warwas, John Brysch, Eugene Brysch, Ernest Brysch, Jr. and Pete Maierhofer.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or for Masses.
