George F. Schmidt Jr.
George F. Schmidt Jr., 77, of Victoria, and formerly of Yorktown, died Sunday, June 29, 2003.
He was born October 1, 1925, in Yorktown, to the late George F. Sr. and Mary Meyer Schmidt. He graduated from Yorktown High School in 1943 and served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. He was a retired construction worker and a member of First English Lutheran Church in Victoria.
Survivors: sister, Myrtle Janssen of Yorktown.
Preceded in death by: parents.

Richard Green
Richard Green, 56, of Cuero, and formerly of Victoria, passed away Thursday, June 26, 2003 in Colorado while on vacation.
He was born May 27, 1947 in Kilgore, Texas to the late Leon and Georgia Patrick Green. Richard retired from Dupont as a Plant Operator in November 2002 after 28 years of service. He served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. Richard enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the Colony Creek Country Club.
He is survived by his wife, Monica Clint Green of Cuero; daughter, Tracey Green of Round Rock; son, Nathan Green of Victoria; two grandchildren, Randi and Will Green of Victoria; and brothers, Leon "Bo" Green Jr. of Aiken, South Carolina, and David Green of Victoria.
Visitation was Tuesday, July 1 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 2 at Rosewood Funeral Chapels. Arrangements are with Rosewood Funeral Chapels, 573-4546.
Jacob T. Ebrom
Jacob Thomas Ebrom, 69, of Cuero, died Wednesday, July 9, 2003.
He was born July 25, 1933, in Yorktown, to the late Frank P. and Rosie Henkes Ebrom. He was a retired welder, having worked for Southern Pacific Railroad for more than 30 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Cuero American Legion and Sons of Hermann Lodge No. 1058. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army.
Survivors: sisters, Irene Mueller and Dorothy Schaffner, both of Cuero, Lucille Lockstedt of Victoria, Janie Goehring of Westhoff, Val Alex of Yorktown and Helen Hotz of Eagle Lake; and brothers, Ben Ebrom, Walter Ebrom, and Edmund Ebrom, all of Cuero, and Paul Ebrom of Westhoff.
Preceded in death by: parents and sister, Elenora Linke.

She was born August 3, 1910, in Cuero, to the late Florentino and Catarina Gonzales Ramirez. She was a homemaker and member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
Survivors: son, Idelberto Jessie Ramirez of Cuero; sisters, Inez Soto of Houston and Minnie Zuniga of Corpus Christi; brother, Faustino Ramirez of Lubbock; four grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.

Ned G. Thigpen Jr., 75, of Yorktown, died Thursday, July 10, 2003.
He was born July 20, 1927, in Cuero, to the late Ned Givings Sr. and Viola Viena Simon Thigpen. He was an independent rancher and construction worker and a Lutheran. He was a World War II veteran.
Survivors: wife, Lynette Loest Thigpen; daughters, Yvonne Trompler and Karen Belk, both of Victoria, and Shirley Harkey, Wanda Gaskamp and Linda Smith, all of Port Lavaca; sons, Jerry Thigpen and Clay Thigpen, both of Victoria; sisters, Geraldine Spears of Cuero, Doris White of Yorktown, Ruby Thigpen of Goliad, Loyce Sikes of Woodsboro and Deborah Thamm of Victoria; brothers, Vernon Thigpen of Port Lavaca, Douglas Thigpen of Cuero and Walter Thigpen of Victoria; 16 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Manuela DeLeon Rivera, 88, of Cuero, died Sunday, July 13, 2003.
She was born in Runge on March 15, 1915 to the late Trinidad and Maria Ramos DeLeon. She was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary Jane Cazares of San Antonio and Lisa Anzaldua of Cuero; son, Antonio Rivera Jr. of San Antonio; grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Antonio Rivera Sr.; parents; sisters, Juanita Enfuenta and Stephanie Marez; and brothers, Santiago DeLeon, Trinidad DeLeon, and Jose DeLeon.

Leona Annie Schoenherr, 86, of Yorktown, died Saturday, July 12, 2003.
She was born May 24, 1917, in Yorktown, to the late Otto G. and Marie Kraatz Markmann. She was a sitter at Yorktown Hospital and a nurse's aid at Yorktown Nursing Home for many years. She was a member of various card and domino clubs and St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Survivors: daughters, Marlene Fromme of Cuero, Doris Koehler and Elaine Henze, both of Yorktown; son, Ernest C. Schoenherr of Schroeder; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Clifton B. Torres Sr., 57, of Cuero, died Friday, July 11, 2003.
He was born on April 9, 1946 in Gonzales County to the late Jesus G. Torres and Natividad Bustamente. He sprayed chemicals on furniture.
He is survived by his daughters, Priscilla D. Torres and Venessa Ramirez, both of Plainview; sons, Billy Joe Torres of Plainview and Clifton Torres Jr. of Cuero; sister. Virginia Cruz of Fort Worth; brothers, Albert Torres of Westhoff, Jessie Torres of Melissa, Thomas Torres of Cuero, Chris Torres of Dallas, and Eugene Torres of Fort Worth; and 7 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Mike Torres and Nick Torres.

Arjorie Franklin Haynes, 66, of Cuero and formerly of El Campo, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004.
She was born July 11, 1938 to the late Elroy and Ardelia Cook Franklin. She was a sales clerk and a member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church of El Campo.
She is survived by her step-daughters Marcella Gile of Pearland and Erma Jean Fitzpatrick of San Francisco, California; step-son, Keathel Haynes Jr. of Sickleville, New Jersey; sisters, Byrta Franklin, Alice Brown, and Josephine Franklin, all of Cuero; and brothers, Andy Franklin of Cuero and George Franklin of Victoria.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Keathel Haynes; parents; sisters, Leoma Johnson, Georgia Bell Denson, and Hazel Robinson; and brothers, Elroy Franklin Jr., Amos Franklin Sr., and Billy Franklin Henderson.

Richard was born Sept. 4, 2004, in Victoria.

Mack L. Gonzales
Mack L. Gonzales, 89, of Cuero, died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004.
He was born April 24, 1915, in Inez, to the late Manuel and Aleveda Liendo Gonzales. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a commercial photographer in San Antonio. He was also a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and a life member of Cuero VFW Post No. 3972.
Survivors: sister, Margaret Garcia of Houston; and brother, Alfonso Gonzales of Cuero.
Preceded in death by: sister, Josephine Aleman; and brothers, Alfred Gonzales, David Gonzales, and Felix Liendo.

Joe W. Meuret Sr., 87, of Nordheim, died Monday, Sept. 6, 2004.
He was born Jan. 31, 1917, in Nopal, to the late Phillip and Louise Boerm Meuret. He was a farmer and rancher and worked for Norris Lumber Company, Home Lumber Company, and Gulf Coast Wood Products Company. He was a Lutheran.

Minnie Rau Moehrig, 101, of Yorktown, died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2004.
She was born June 20, 1903, in Wiedeville, to the late Fritz Sr. and Louise Kalkhake Rau. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wiedeville and attended Wiedeville School.
