ODESSA - Lera Penrod, 85, a retired employee of Bill Rea Insurance Associates Inc., died Friday, Oct. 3, 1997, at Medical Center Hospital.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Jim Hawk officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

She was born in Freestone County and was a resident of Odessa. She was a Methodist.

SURVIVORS: Brother, Andrew M. Seely of Orange; and sister, Sarah Beryl Sury of San Antonio.

Mathew Trowbridge

ANDREWS - Mathew Trowbridge, 16, a student at Andrews High School, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 1997, at his residence.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. today at Calvary Baptist Church in Andrews with the Rev. Mike Henson officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today at Resthaven cemetery in McCamey. Arrangements by McNett Funeral Home.

He was born in Odessa and was a resident of Andrews. He was a Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Parents, Tommy Trowbridge and Cindy Trowbridge of Andrews; brothers, Eric Trowbridge of Rusk and Joseph Trowbridge of Andrews; and grandparents, Ann Cross of Andrews and Maxie Trowbridge of Brownwood.

Demetrio Gonzalez

ODESSA - Demetrio Gonzalez, 84, of Odessa died Sunday, Oct. 5, 1997, at his residence.

Funeral arrangements are pending with Martinez Funeral Home.

Michael Bird

IRAAN - Michael 'Mike' Bird, 37, a welder, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 1997, at his home.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church. Burial will be at Restland cemetery in Iraan. Arrangements by Richard W. Box Funeral Homes.

He was born in Kermit and attended high school in Iraan.

SURVIVORS: Mother and stepfather, Doris 'Pat' and Freddy Kneupper of Iraan; daughters, Melissa Bird of Odessa and Lacey Bird of Victoria; grandmother, Rudy Breedlove of McAlester, Okla.; sisters, Cindy Anderson and Kathy Munguia, both of Odessa; brother, Paul M. Bird Jr. of Iraan; and one granddaughter.

Gabino F. Cobos

MIDLAND - Gabino F. Cobos, 90, died Saturday, Oct. 4, 1997, in a Midland hospital.

Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Chruch with the Rev. Robert Vretaeu officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. Rosary was said Monday at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jesse Guajardo officiating. Arrangements by Ellis Funeral Home.

He was born in Alpine and lived in Midland since 1955. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Flora Cobos of Midland; sons, Jesse R. Cobos of Arlington; Gilbert Cobos of Big Spring; Rick Cobos of Midland; daughters, Laura Hernandez, Angela Sanchez, Yolanda Belazi and Rosalinda Cobos, all of Midland; brothers, Margarito Cobos of Alpine, Jess Cobos of Odessa and Marcario Cobos of Marfa; sisters, Beatrice Adamson of Buchanan Lake, Brigida De Anda of Odessa, Martina Armijo of El Paso and Elena DeLa Rosa of Fort Stockton; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Maria Gonzalez

CRANE - Maria De Jesus Gonzalez, 47, a homemaker, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 1997, in Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.

Mass will be celebrated at 6:30 p.m. today in the Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Burial will be in Crane County cemetery. Arrangements by Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.

She was born in Acuna, Mexico, and had been a resident of Crane for 26 years. She was a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church.

SURVIVORS: Husband, Benito Gonzalez of Crane; sons, Jorge Gonzalez of Odessa and Alonzo Gonzalez of Crane; daughters, Claudia Madrid and Ana Lopez, both of Odessa; Maria Ortiz, Maggie Sharp and Lurdes Gonzalez, all of Crane; mother, Antonia Avila of Acuna, Mexico; brother, Jesus Avila of Crane; and sisters, Rita Moreno, Antonia Avila and Guadalupe Moreno, all of Acuna, Mexico.

Joyce McKeehan

DELEON - Joyce McKeehan, 84, a homemaker, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 1997, in Comanche.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Longoria officiating. Burial will be in Sipe Springs cemetery. Arrangements by Nowlin Funeral Home.

She was born in Comanche County and previously lived in the Odessa area. She was a member of First Baptist Church in De Leon.

SURVIVORS: Sons, James McKeehan of Abilene and Marvin McKeehan of Comanche; brothers, Thomas Brown of Bullshoals, Ark. and L.R. Brown of Freeport; sisters, Opal Whiteside of Sipe Springs and Ruby Burrows of California; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

John Pierce

CRANE - John W. Pierce, 74, an independent pumper, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 1997, at his residence.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Richard W. Box Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lynn Tipton officiating. Burial will be at Crane County cemetery. Arrangements by Richard W. Box Funeral Home.

He was born in Breckenridge and had lived in Crane since 1949. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Crane and served in the Army during World War II.

SURVIVORS: Daughter, Patty Hollingsworth of Lamesa; sons, Carlos Fox of Crane, Billy Pierce of Monahans and Floyd Pierce of Stephenville; sisters, Billie Jean Harvey and Charlene Rush, both of Ingleside; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Sara Rodriguez

ODESSA - Sara Aidin Rodriguez, infant daughter of Dia Nidia Rueda and Carlos Rodriguez, died Friday, Oct. 3, 1997, at Medical Center Hospital.

Graveside services will be performed at 10 a.m. today at Rosehill cemetery with the Rev. Jesus Mercado officiating. Burial will be at Rosehill cemetery Babyland. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.

She was born in Odessa.

SURVIVORS: Father, Carlos Rodriguez of Odessa; mother, Dia Nidia Rodriguez of Odessa; brother, Carlos Manuel Rodriguez Jr. of Odessa; grandparents, Angel and Guadalupe Rueda of Odessa, and Carlos Rodriguez Sr. and Augustina Rodriguez of Ojinaga, Mexico.

Ruby Strickland

SEYMOUR - Ruby P. Strickland, 77, a retired bookkeeper, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 1997, at the Seymour Hospital.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Seymour Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Glenn Shock officiating. Interment will be at the Masonic cemetery in Seymour. Arrangements by Seymour Memorial Funeral Home.

She was born in Fleetwood, Okla., moved to Seymour from Monahans in 1987. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.

SURVIVORS: Husband, Charles Strickland of Seymour; daughter, Paula Buie of Gillette, Wyo.; sisters, Rachel Patterson of Hewitt and Willie Mae Sessions of Seymour; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Richard Parker

ODESSA - Richard W. Parker, 75, of Odessa died Monday, Oct. 6, 1997, at his residence.

Services are pending with Martinez Funeral Home.

Demetrio Gonzales Sr.

ODESSA - Demetrio Gonzales Sr., 84, retired Santa Fe Railroad employee, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 1997, at his residence.

Services will be held at 4 p.m. today at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel with Salvador Mayorga officiating. Interment will be at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.

He was born in Carmargo, Mexico, and moved to Odessa in 1980 from El Paso. He was a Jehovah's Witness.

SURVIVORS: Daughters, Margarita Fernandez of Odessa; Carmen Nevarez of El Paso; Martha Almaguer of Anthony, N.M.; Teresa Miranda of El Paso; Antonia Gonzales of Juarez, Mexico; Martha Tellez of Ysleta; sons, Ramon Gonzales of El Paso; Demetrio Gonzales Jr. of El Paso; Guadalupe Gonzales of Denver; brother, Nene Gonzales of Los Angeles; 24 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
