Donnie Louise (Ferguson) Nevill
HIGHLAND HAVEN — Donnie Louise (Ferguson) Nevill, age 63, of Highland Haven, Texas died Sunday, Oct. 27, 2002. She had been a resident of the Hill Country for the last 17 years.
Donnie was born July 15, 1939 in Brownwood to John Leaman Ferguson and Willie Zerelda Kelly. Following her marriage to Milton Nevill in Laredo on July 15, 1983, they resided in Spring, Texas before retiring to Burnet County.
She was extremely active in many volunteer organizations in the area and gave many hours of dedicated service to local libraries and the American Cancer Society. She was a volunteer in the beauty shop of local nursing homes, and lovingly tended to the lady resident’s hair shampoos and curls.
Donnie belonged to the Methodist faith, and attended Highland Lakes United Methodist Church. She was a member of Lambda Nu Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha International, a service and educational sorority of women involved in children’s charities and scholarships for higher education. Amongst the various duties and committees she served in the sorority, she also was a past president. She was also a member of the Burnet County Home Extension Club.
In 1995, she was awarded the distinguished honor of being named Burnet County Woman of the Year for her selfless spirit of volunteerism.
Her survivors include her husband, Milton Nevill of Highland Haven; daughter, Kimberly Van Sicklen and husband Jeff of Dallas; son, Brian Harris and wife Michele of Round Rock; stepsons, Ron Nevill of Tomball and Ed Nevill of Lake Jackson; sisters, Thelma Zellner and husband Charles of Plano, Jewel Elkins and husband Cecil of Brownwood, June Hollingshead and husband Ray of Georgetown, and Barbara Brown and husband Don of Weatherford; brothers, Buster Ferguson of Brownwood and Ed Ferguson and wife Willajean of Mullin; and grandchild ren, Casey and Candice Van Cleave, Macy and Ray Tanner Harris, and Zachary Nevill.
Preceding her in death were her parents, John and Willie Ferguson; brothers, Lester Harold Ferguson and Tudd Ferguson; and sister, Oneita Hughes.
Services will be Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002, at 10 a.m. at Highland Lakes United Methodist Church in Buchanan Dam. Interment will follow at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park in Burnet County. Dr. L.C. Johnston will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Dwayne Bond, Vern Wagner, Ben Broyles, Howard Coleman, Jack Ford, and Herschel Martin, Dub Goins and Lonnie Wilkerson are honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Friends of Hospice Highland Lakes Inc., P.O. Box 1843, Marble Falls, TX 78654 or Highland Lakes United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 531, Buchanan Dam, TX 78609.
Arrangements are under the direction of Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Homes, Inc. of Kingsland.

Ronald Lee Reeves
ODESSA — Ronald Lee Reeves, 43, passed away Friday, Oct. 25, 2002.
He was born in Odessa, Texas, on March 5, 1959, to Raymond Reeves and Wanda Lee Turner. Mr. Reeves was a 1977 graduate from Odessa High School and went on to become a resident of Cold Springs, Texas, for 18 years. There, he united with Julie Reeves, his wife of twelve years. He worked as a forklift operator for Louisiana Pacific in Cleveland, Texas. He also was a truck driver for Texas Mud Co. and Bo Digbe in Odessa.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Ray Reeves.
Survivors include his wife, Julie Reeves of Cold Springs, Texas; his father, Raymond and wife Kitty Reeves of Odessa, Texas; his mother, Wanda Yeager and husband James of Waco, Texas; six sons; Steven Ray, Thomas James, Brian Lee Reeves, Shawn Curtis Reeves, Scotty Lynn Reeves and Corey Ray Reeves; his sister, Debra Tyler and husband Jerry of Odessa, Texas; and stepbrothers, Patrick and Michael Pixley and Troy Glenn Yeager; and stepsister, Debe Rene Davis.
Services will be held at Sunset Memorial Chapel at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002, with the Revs. Jeff Chapman and Walter McCall officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of S

Juan Manuel Luna Moreno
CARLSBAD, N.M. — Juan Manuel Luna Moreno, 48, of Carlsbad, N.M. passed away Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002 in Carlsbad, N.M.
Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at San Jose Catholic Church. Internment at Santa Catarina cemetery in Carlsbad under the direction of West Funeral Home of Carlsbad.
Mr. Moreno was born June 24, 1954 in Carlsbad to Juan P. and Felipa Luna Moreno. They both preceded him in death.
He was a Catholic and was a member of the De Colores church group. He was an oilfield worker in Ward County and surrounding counties.
Survivors include his daughter, Maria Ordorenez of Austin; 14 half brothers; three sisters; two half sisters; one uncle-brother; and three grandchildren.

Dr. Jack Lee Turner
ODESSA — Jack Lee Turner, M.D., F.A.C.S., was born in Dallas, Texas, on Jan. 4, 1923, and died in Odessa, Texas, on Oct. 27, 2002.
He was reared in Highland Park and graduated from Highland Park High School and Southern Methodist University. He earned his Doctor of Medicine Degree from the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston in 1946. He served his internship at the United States Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, Va., and graduated from Flight Surgeon Training at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Fla. He completed his postgraduate and residency training in Otolaryngology at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Mo., and Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.
He practiced Otolaryngology in Odessa, Texas, for 40 years. He was a pioneer in modern-day ear surgery. He did much of the early work developing the Transtympanic Ventilating Tube, which, for many years, was known as the “Turner Tube.” This operation is one of the most frequently performed surgical procedures today.
He was one of the founders and past president of the Otolaryngologic Association of Texas and a member of the prestigious Triological Society.
He served a term as Chief of Staff at Medical Center Hospital, and acted as a spokesman for the Odessa Delegation that was successful in bringing the Texas Tech School of Medicine to Odessa. He received the Heritage of Odessa Award for Health Science in 1985, along with numerous other awards and accomplishments.
He was a modern-day Renaissance man who continually searched for knowledge and worked to make things more beautiful. He leaves behind countless “projects” and examples of his artistic skills at his church and every place that he lived.
He would like to be remembered as a truly compassionate doctor and man who loved his profession, his Operating Room staff, his patients and those in need. He considered delivering “Meals on Wheels” a privilege, and only discontinued that labor of love when he was no longer able.
He greatly loved his family and friends, and remains a role model for his children for living life to the fullest extent with responsibility, respect, and appreciation for humor and fun.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ludee Harrington Turner; sons, Terence L. Turner and Patricia King and Jeffrey William Turner and his wife, Cherry of San Antonio; daughter, Nancy Turner-Young and her husband, Robert of San Diego, Calif.; grandsons, Toby Turner of Austin, Matthew Turner of San Antonio and Texas Christian University and Robert Jackson Young of San Diego; and granddaughter Rosemary Claire Young of San Diego.
Services will be held at St. Johns Episcopal Church, Fourth St. and West County Road in Odessa, with the Rev. Laura Deaderick officiating at 5 p.m. today, Oct. 29, 2002. Arrangements are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
Dr. Turner was an active member of St. John’s Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, he has requested that donations be made to the church to support one of his labors of love by providing funding for the perpetual development and maintenance of the church’s gardens.
The family is especially grateful to Emily Thielepape and the Home Hospice team, Dr. B. J. Naidu and his staff, the Rev. Laura Deaderick and all of their wonderful friends.

Roby Archer
ODESSA — Roby Lee Archer, 92, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today at Ector County cemetery with the Rev. Terry Folmar officiating. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
She was born in Commanche County. She was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Kenneth Archer and Everett Archer, both of Odessa; daughter, Carolyn Archer Willis of Odessa; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Jeremy Aulds
SEMINOLE — Jeremy Scott Aulds, 20, of Seminole, died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002, at Permian General Hospital in Andrews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at South Seminole Baptist Church with the Rev. Dan Dale officiating. Burial will follow at Gaines County cemetery South. Arrangements by Boyer Funeral Home of Seminole.
He was born in Andrews. He was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Parents, Mike and Susy Aulds of Seminole; brothers, Shawn Aulds of Seminole and Christopher Aulds of Cherry Point, N.C.; maternal grandparents, Jack and Glenda Wheeler of Possum Kingdom; and paternal grandmother, Lois Aulds of Denver City.

Jacka Elizondo
ODESSA — Jacka Elizabeth Elizondo, 55, of Odessa, died Friday, Oct. 18, 2002, at Hospice House.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements by Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
She was born in Odessa.
SURVIVORS: Husband, Richard R. Elizondo of Odessa; sons, Timothy L. Smith of Odessa, Randy E. Elizondo of Lubbock; and Roy D. Elizondo of Odessa; daughter, Elizabeth A. Elizondo of Midland; brothers, Frank L. Langham of Arizona and Don Carper of Amarillo; sister, Janice Farrier of Crestview, Fla.; and 10 grandchildren.

Jim Kelton
PECOS — Jim Tom Kelton, 81, of Pecos, a retired rancher, died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002, at Reeves County Hospital.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at First Christian Church in Pecos. Burial will be at Mount Evergreen cemetery. Arrangements by Pecos Funeral Home.
He was born in Pecos. He was a Christian.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Doris Kelton of Pecos; son, Bob Kelton of Pecos; daughter, Janell Kelton of Monahans; and sister, Melba Younce of Houston.

Maria Miramontes
PECOS — Maria Dolorez Miramontes, 74, of Pecos, a homemaker, died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with the Rev. Ben Flores officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood cemetery. Arrangements by Pecos Funeral Home.
She was born in Cusihuiriachic, Chihuahua, Mexico. She was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Husband, Victoriano Murillo Miramontes of Pecos; sons, Victor Mario Miramontes of Midland, Gerardo Miramontes of Las Cruces, N.M., Jesus Miramontes of Dearborn, Mich. And Francisco Miramontes of Lubbock; daughters, Mary Margaret Shelkey of Midland, Lupe Bishop of Midland; Ana Maria Miramontes Roquermore of Dallas and Maria Dolores Dearman of San Antonio; sister, Maria De La Luz Alvarado De Chacon of Chihuahua, Mexico; 16 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Jose Francisco Fuentes
ODESSA — Jose Francisco Fuentes, 21, of Odessa, died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services are pending with Martinez Funeral Home.

Terry Richard Scott Lucero
ODESSA — Richard Scott Lucero, 35, of Odessa passed away Thursday, Oct. 17, 2002, at Midland Memorial Hospital. He was born May 7, 1967, in Lovington, N.M. He married Teresa Worley on Oct. 21, 1989, in Odessa.
Richard was a devoted family man. He loved his wife and boys very much. He worked as a tubular service technician for Hydril Company for 12 years. Richard loved woodworking and blessed many people with his lovely creations. He is loved and missed by so many wonderful family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa Lucero; sons, Jacob, Joshua and Jarett Lucero, all of Odessa; parents, Nickie and Rob Kelly of Odessa and Joe and Maria Lucero of Dexter, N.M.; grandparents, Ruben and Arcenia Lucero and Nick and Betty Clemenza, all of Dexter, N.M.; brother, Tony Lucero of Austin; sisters, Michelle Nelson and her husband of Albuquerque, N.M., and Jocelyn Lucero of Dexter, N.M.; aunts and uncles, Kay and Jake Trujillo, Tony and Becky Clemenza, Teri and John Joyce, Chris Clemenza, Joe an Candy Clemenza and many wonderful friends.
Funeral services will be at 5 p.m. today, Oct. 19, 2002, at Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. Griffin Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The family suggests memorials may be made to the Living Bank, P.O. Box 6725, Houston, TX, 77265.

Doyle G. McBride
ODESSA — Doyle G. McBride, 72, of Odessa, passed away Oct. 18, 2002. He was born to Roy Lee McBride and Anna Cantwell McBride on Oct. 8, 1930, in Abernathy, Texas. He married Josephine Cotton on Feb. 8, 1952, in Lubbock, Texas, and has lived in and around Odessa for over 40 years.
Mr. McBride was the owner and operator of McBride Trucking for 13 years and was also in the radiator business for 20 years. Doyle was a very respected, down-to-earth man who knew no strangers. His family was his pride and joy, and he loved them very much.
Mr. McBride was preceded in death by his father, Roy Lee McBride; his mother, Anna Cantwell McBride; and nine brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine McBride of Odessa; his sons, Michael McBride and wife Anna of Odessa; Russell McBride and wife Reba of Odessa; his daughters, Bobbie Dirden and husband Richard of Odessa, Mary Stewart of Midland and Barney Smith of Odessa; brother, Bill McBride of Odessa; and sister, Dorothy Skidmore of Roanoke, Va. He has eight grandsons, four granddaughters and one great-granddaughter.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Mike Bartlett of Greenfield Acres Baptist Church will be officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Hospice House or to Home Hospice.
