Theresa Drake
ANDREWS — Theresa Drake, 87, of Arlington, a homemaker, died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002, at Arlington Medical Health Center in Arlington.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at McNett Chapel in Andrews. Burial will be at Andrews Old cemetery. Arrangements by McNett Funeral Home of Andrews.
She was born in Stonewall, Okla., and was a longtime resident of Andrews before moving to Arlington in 1994.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Ronnie Drake of Fairfield and Larry Drake of Glen Rose; daughters, Trudy Krause of Grand Prairie and Earlene Mauldin of Arlington; brothers, R.J. Fowler of Jal, N.M., and Bill Fowler of Illinois; sister, Dorothy Melton of Hobbs, N.M.; 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Leola Fillyaw
ODESSA — Leola Fillyaw, 78, of Spring, a homemaker, died Monday, Oct. 14, 2002, in Houston.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa. Arrangements by Calvary Hill Funeral Home and cemetery of Humble.
She was born in Eastland.
SURVIVORS: Daughter, Jo Hart of Spring; brothers, Gayland Snell of Kermit and Johnny Snell of Rye; sister-in-law, Pat Snell of Cisco; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Joye Hager
YALE, Okla. — Joye W. Hager, 61, of Colorado City, died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002, at her residence.
Services were held Monday at the First Baptist Church in Yale. Private family burial services were held prior to the funeral at the Lawson cemetery North of Yale with the Revs. Steve Lopp and Jeff Hill officiating. Arrangements by Palmer Funeral Home of Cushing.
She was born in Norfork, Okla., and was a resident of Odessa for 18 years. She was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Husband, Richard Hager of Colorado City; son, Richard C. Hager of Atlanta, Mich.; daughters, Paula Hager Ford of Hobbs, N.M., and Kimberly Hager Cole of Odessa; brothers, Bill Gooch of Agraw, Okla., and Robert Gooch of Kellyville, Okla.; sister, Edith Schiller of Milfay, Okla.; and seven grandchildren.

Helen Kirkpatrick
RANKIN — Helen L. Wahl Kirkpatrick, 72, of Rankin, a homemaker, died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002, at her residence.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Rankin cemetery. Arrangements by Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home of Crane.
She was born in Junction and had lived in Rankin for four years.
SURVIVORS: Husband, Martin Kirkpatrick of Rankin; daughters, Paula Dennis of Rochelle and Sandy Armstrong of Big Lake; son, Danny Kirkpatrick of Odessa; sisters, Geneva Bryant of Fredricksburg and Lorena Lemon of Long Beach, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Herman Ornelas
SNYDER — Herman Ornelas, 86, of Snyder, a retired farmer, died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002, at Cogdell Memorial Hospital in Snyder.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bell-Cypert-Seale Chapel in Snyder with Carlos Salgado officiating. Burial will be at Hillside Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
He was born in Ojinaga, Mexico. He was a Jehovah’s Witness.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Sotera Ornelas of Snyder; sons, Herman Ornelas Jr. of Del Rio, Joe Ornelas of Odessa and Matt Ornelas of Snyder; daughter, Paula Gonzalez of Austin; brothers, Jose Ornelas, Leandro Ornelas and Eulalio Ornelas, all of Colorado City, and Espiridion “Speedy” Ornelas of Sweetwater; sister, Petra Torres of Colorado City; 18 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.

Deborah Patterson
MIDLAND — Deborah Patterson, 52, of Midland, a former storeowner, died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002 in Midland.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel. A wake will follow at her husband’s home, 1100 W. Golf Course Road in Midland. Arrangements by Ellis Funeral Home.
She was born in Macon, Mo.
SURVIVOR: Husband, Richard Folger of Midland.

Lena Simpson
ODESSA — Lena Mae Simpson, 101, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002, at Odessa Regional Hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. James Baptist Church with the Rev. R.T. McNeil officiating. Burial will be at the Ector County cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Martinez Funeral Home. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.
She was born in Waco.
SURVIVORS: Daughter, Roberta Thomas of Midland; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Ernie Beaver
ODESSA — The Rev. Ernie Beaver, 63, of Waco, a minister, died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002, at his residence.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Dayspring Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Troy Keathley officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
He was born in Llano.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Pauletta Jo Beaver of Odessa; sons, Aaron Ladd Delcambre of Hazelton, Idaho, and Jerold Lynn Poindexter, Anthony Louis Poindexter and Alfansi Louis Poindexter, all of Longview; daughter, Aprill Lynn Campbell of Springfield, Ore.; brothers, Marion Lee Beaver of Jerome, Idaho, R.D. Beaver Jr. of Carlsbad, Idaho, and Robert Wayne Beaver of Utah; sister, Dorothy Lillian Johnson of Ballinger; and 14 grandchildren.

Benny Freeman
Benny Freeman, 70, of Odessa passed away Thursday, Sept. 12, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital.
He was born August 20, 1932, in Trent, Texas. He worked in the oilfield for 45 years and retired from Ector County after 10 years of service and later worked for Freeman Trucking Company.
He married Audrey Snyder on Nov. 5, 2000, in Las Vegas, Nev. He enjoyed woodworking.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Dorothy Faye Freeman, on Oct. 16, 1999.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey Snyder Freeman of Odessa; son, Ricky L. Freeman of Odessa; daughters, Jewel Rene’ Seibold of Phoenix, Ariz. and Regina Louise Gilchrist, both of Odessa; brothers, Bobby Freeman of Odessa, Wayne Freeman of Hennessey, Okla. and Tommy Freeman of San Angelo; sisters, Nina Faye Rials of Muleshoe, Texas and Doris Fellers of Odessa; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10 am. Monday, Sept. 16, 2002, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Wayne Shelton officiating. Interment will be 4 p.m. Monday at The Eastland cemetery in Eastland.
Funeral services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

J.D. Moore
ODESSA — Services for J.D. Moore, 77, of Odessa will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Emmitt Bernard officiating.
Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens under direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Mr. Moore passed away at his residence Monday, Sept. 23, 2002. He was born April 11, 1925, in Denison, Texas, to John and Dicy Adline Moore. He married Liz Easley on March 28, 1970, in Odessa.
He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, attaining the rank of Sergeant. He received the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with one Bronze Star, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, Army of Occupation Medal (Japan), Victory Ribbon and two overseas bars.
Mr. Moore drove a rig-up truck for Johnn Drilling until retirement in 1989. He was a lifetime oilfield truck driver.
He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He has been an Odessa resident since the early ‘50s, moving from Hobbs, NM.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Gary Dennis Moore of Austin, Robbie Linton of Henderson and Tommy Linton of Burnet; one daughter, Linda C. Wier of Marble Falls; one brother, Marshall Thomas Moore of Pilot Point; two sisters, Viola James of Hobbs, N.M. and Bernice Sherman of Muskogee, Okla.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.
The family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.

Kenneth Davis Anderson
BRECKENRIDGE — Funeral services for Kenneth Davis Anderson, a 48-year-old former Breckenridge resident, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at Morehart Mortuary in Breckenridge, with the Rev. W.C. Roach officiating. Burial was in the Breckenridge cemetery under the direction of Morehart Mortuary. Mr. Anderson died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002, in Odessa.
He was born Sept. 2, 1954, in Breckenridge to Millard and Eugenia (Casper) Anderson. He attended school in Breckenridge until his freshman year, when he moved to Crane. He graduated from Crane High School in 1973. He married Cindy Bird in Crane on June 29, 1973. He had worked for Green’s Pipe Service in Odessa for the past 10 years.
He was a Christian.
Mr. Anderson is survived by one daughter, Jennifer Anderson of Odessa; one son, Joshua David Anderson of Odessa; two brothers, Ben Melton Anderson of Beaumont and Kenneth Earl Lynch of Breckenridge; his mother, Eugenia Anderson of Breckenridge; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers.
The family requests that memorials be made to Odyssey Health Care of Odessa, 2651 JBS Parkway, Odessa, TX 79761.

Inez O. George
ODESSA — Inez O. George, 82, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2002, at the Mitchell County Hospital in Colorado City. She was born April 1, 1920, to Sam and Nancy Bettes in Wirt, Okla.
Inez was a resident of Colorado City. She was a Baptist. Some of her hobbies included handiwork, reading, crafts, and quilting. She married Donald George in June of 1954 in Phoenix, Ariz.
Graveside services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Sammy Elliot officiating.
Her first husband, John Jay South; second husband, Donald George; her father; her mother; brother, Larkin Morgan; sister, Loma Berry; grandson, Scottie South; and son-in-law, John Midgett all preceded her in death.
Survivors include: son, Scottie South and wife Barbara of Amarillo; a daughter, Sandra Midgett of Colorado City, Texas; seven grandchildren, Karrie Price, Debbie Mattos and husband Dan, Scott Midgett and wife Shelley, Stacy South, Melinda Owens and husband Glenn, Susan Polster and husband Emmit and Steven South; nine great-grandchildren two great-great-grandsons; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Memorials may be made to your favorite charity.
Services are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Olene Leonard Benham
ODESSA — Olene Leonard Benham, 74, passed peacefully June 25, 2002.
Mrs. Benham was born Oct. 18, 1927, in Coleman to Arthur and Maurine Leonard.
Mrs. Benham was a longtime member of Immanuel Baptist Church. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was also past president of the Social Order of the Beaucent (SOOB). She retired as a PBX operator from First State Bank. She took great pride in her children and their families. She had many close friends, and she will be missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Mary Ann Jones.
She is survived by three sons, Stan and wife Vicki Benham of Gardendale, Bruce and wife Linda Benham of Odessa and Ronnie and wife Debbie Acton of El Paso; a daughter, Patty and husband Jerry Needham of Atlanta, Ga.; two brothers, Bobby D. Leonard and wife Brenda of Odessa and Dulane Leonard and wife Bobbie Jean of Big Spring; six grandchildren, Deidra Benham, Brooke Benham Carrasco, Beau Benham, Daniel Benham, Janie Marie Rowe and Shanna Cameron; and four great-grandchildren, Ethan, Joshua, Katlynn and Benjamin.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today, June 28, 2002, at Immanuel Baptist Church with Bill Cook officiating. Burial services will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Beau Benham, Daniel Benham, Thomas Carrasco, Geoff Lucke, Clayton Leonard and Jerry Leonard.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for all the love and support.
