Cecil Evans
MEMPHIS — Cecil Evans, 78, of Andrews, retired owner and operator of Evans Electric Co. in Memphis, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, at Hospice House of Odessa.
Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. today at Fairview cemetery with the Rev. Johnnie Snider officiating. Arrangements by McNett Funeral Home.
He was born in Memphis and was a lifelong resident. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
SURVIVORS: Daughters, Dedria Ballew of Andrews and Sandra Eckerle of Pilot Grove, Mo.; sisters, May Maddox and Lucille Bloxom, both of Memphis, and Bessie Arterburn of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Higinio Medrano Jr.
ODESSA — Higinio “Shorty” Medrano Jr., 75, of Odessa, a retired plumber, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital.
Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Gilbert Rodriguez officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Ector County cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.
He was born in La Haciendita and had been a resident before moving to Odessa. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Carmen Baeza Medrano of Odessa; son, Gilbert Medrano of Odessa; daughters, Lourdes “Lulu” Medrano and Diana Munoz, both of Odessa; brothers, Ricardo Medrano and Manuel Medrano, both of Hagerman, N.M., and Alejandro Medrano of Dexter, N.M.; sisters, Ernestina Salazar of Artesia, N.M., and Guadelupe Ramirez of Dexter; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Aline Preacher
PAMPA — Aline Preacher, 75, of Pampa died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, in Pampa.
No services are scheduled. Arrangements by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
She was born in Blair, Okla., and had been a resident of Odessa before moving to Pampa in 1997.
SURVIVORS: Brothers, Billy Ray Mulligan of Pampa and H.D. Mulligan of Altus, Okla.; and sister, Oleta Beck of Mountain View, Okla.

Josefa Saenz
ODESSA — Josefa “Chepa” Tavarez Saenz, 90, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, in Odessa.
Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. today at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Gilbert Rodriguez officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.
She was born in Shafter and was a lifelong resident of Odessa. She was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Gilberto Saenz, Alberto Saenz and Benito Saenz, all of Odessa; and three grandchildren.

Odis Nelson
TULSA, Okla. — Odis E. “Curly” Nelson, 89, of Owasso, Okla., died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, at Tulsa Regional Medical Center in Tulsa, Okla.
Services are pending with Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Mayo Black
FORT STOCKTON — Mayo L. Black, 80, of Fort Stockton, a retired plant operator, died Thursday, May 16, 2002, in Fort Stockton.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Christian Church with the Rev. Ernie Waggoner officiating. Burial will be at East Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.
He was born in Elk City, Okla.
SURVIVORS: Daughters, Barbara Murphree of Fort Stockton and Lois Beam of Spring; son, Lloyd Black of Austin; three brothers; five sisters; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Inez Butler
ENOCHS — Inez Louise Hallford Butler, 76, of Fort Stockton, a retired upholsterer, died Tuesday, May 14, 2002, at Pecos County Memorial Hospital in Fort Stockton.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at the Enochs cemetery with the Rev. Randy Richardson officiating. Arrangements by Memorial Funeral Home.
She was born in Brice. She was Methodist.
SURVIVORS: Husband, James C. Butler of Fort Stockton; daughters, Evelyn Cunningham of Fort Stockton and Patsy Harris of Brownwood; sisters, Betty Richardson of Morton and Billie Haskins of Los Lunas, N.M.; brother, Carl Wayne Hallford of Lubbock; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Norman Hesser
ODESSA — Norman N. Hesser, 78, of Odessa, a vice president of an oilfield company, died Wednesday, May 15, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Westminster Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Cheryl Homsher officiating. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
He was born in Bennett and moved to Odessa in 1949 from Illinois. He was an Air Force veteran. He was Presbyterian.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Lois Hesser of Odessa; daughter, Sherry Douglas of Dallas; sister, Barbara Workman of Cottage Hills, Ill.; and two grandchildren.

Levi Luker Jr.
COMANCHE COUNTY — Levi “Luke” Luker Jr., 72, of Odessa, a retired truck mechanic for Central Freight Lines, died Wednesday, May 15, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital.
Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Luker cemetery with the Rev. John Boone officiating. Arrangements by Comanche Funeral Home.
He was born in Comanche County. He was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Shirley Luker of Odessa; sons, James Michael Luker and Johnny Luker, both of Odessa; daughter, Linda Jazan Hampton of Odessa; sister, Lois Taylor of Hauley; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Derwana McDaniel
ODESSA — Derwana Vercell McDaniel, 26, of Garland, a computer programmer for Complete Processing Inc., died Saturday, May 11, 2002, at her residence.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Greater St. Luke Baptist Church with the Revs. Joe L. Terry Sr. and Joe L. Terry Jr. officiating. Burial will be at Ector County cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.
She was born in Midland. She was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Jathan McDaniel and Quadrick Walker, both of Garland; mother, Lessie Sims of Odessa; stepfather, the Rev. C.E. Sims of Odessa; brother, Ron Quarker of Midland; grandfather, Lawrence McMaryion of Compton, Calif.; and grandmother, Annabelle Quarker of Atmore, Ala.

Doris Stone
ANDREWS — Doris Stone, 77, of Andrews, a homemaker, died Wednesday, May 15, 2002, at Andrews Healthcare Center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at McNett Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. H.A. Hanks officiating. Burial will follow at the Andrews Old cemetery. Arrangements by McNett Funeral Home.
She was born in El Paso and moved to Andrews in 1947. She was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Daughter, Sara Shortes of Andrews; brother, Tom Applewhite of Cotton Center; sisters, Ruth Lowery of Hale Center and Jody Hyde of Franklin; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Esta Sarrels
MIDLAND — Esta Sarrels, 91, of Andrews died Thursday, May 16, 2002, in Midland.

Pedro Almendarez
ODESSA — The Rev. Pedro M. Almendarez, 78, a former Santa Fe Railway foreman and minister, died Sept. 2, 2002, at his residence.
Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Apostolic Assembly Church, 5533 Mapp, with the Rev. Roman Arreolo officiating. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Guadalupe Almendarez of Odessa; daughters, Delores Contreras, of Fort Stockton, Pete Almendarez Jr., of Odessa, Epifania Escobar, of Houston, Esperanza Hope Acosta, of Lewisville, Elia Dominguez, of Houston, Priscilla Nino, of Odessa, and Elodia Hinojos, of Phoenix; sons, John Almendarez, of Odessa, Roy Almendarez, of Midland, and Ben Alemendarez, of Pecos; brothers, Transito Almendarez and Victoriano Almendarez, of Fort Stockton; sister, Gloria Dolbow, of Midland; 20 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandson.

He was born in Stillwater, Okla. He was Catholic.

ODESSA — Reba Lorene Teague, 82, of Odessa, a bookkeeper for Bearing Supply Co., died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002 at Hospice House.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bob Bratcher officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
She was born in Sanger.
SURVIVORS: Daughters, Pat Johnson and Mary Ann Shirley, both of Odessa, and June Ocker of Oklahoma City, Okla.; sister, Eva Lou Walters of Odessa; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Euey Henry Cameron
ODESSA — Euey Henry Cameron, 76, of Odessa, beloved father and husband, was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 18, 2002, at Scott and White Hospital in Temple.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 29, 2002, at Immanuel Baptist Church, 4020 E. University Blvd., in Odessa. Interment was Sunday, July 21, 2002, in Bartlett, Texas.
