Lane Newbert

KERMIT - Lane Newbert, 92, of Wink, a retired insurance agent, died Monday, Dec. 1, 1997, in Wink.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church in Kermit with the Rev. Mel Herring officiating. Burial will at Kermit cemetery. Arrangements by Cooper Funeral Home.

He was born in Stillwater, Okla., and moved to Wink 63 years ago. He was Lutheran.

SURVIVORS: Daughter, Susie Gray of Wink; sister, Carletta Fenner of Las Vegas; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Richard Turner

ODESSA - Richard Turner, 64, of Odessa died Monday, Dec. 1, 1997, at St. Joseph Medical Center in Albuquerque, N.M.

Funeral arrangements are pending under the direction of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Home.

Joe Baum

JAL, N.M. - Joe Brownie Baum, 88, a retired lease foreman with Conoco, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 1997, at Medical Center Hospital.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. MST today at the First Baptist Church in Jal, N.M., with the Rev. G.A. Magee officiating. Burial will be at the Jal cemetery. Arrangements by Cooper Funeral Chapel.

He was born in Cross Plains and had been a resident of Jal, N.M. for 56 years. He was a Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Son, David C. Baum of Odessa; daughter, Vicki Gwynne of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; and three grandchildren.

Sybil Hutton

KERMIT - Sybil H. Hutton, 80, a retired licensed vocational nurse, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 1997, at Medical Center Hospital.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church in Kermit with the Revs. Gary Seelau and Milton Chester officiating. Burial will be at the Kermit cemetery. Arrangements by Cooper Funeral Chapel.

She was born in Chicago and was a resident of Wink for 20 years. She was a Methodist.

SURVIVORS: Son, Clifford Earl Hutton of Denver; brother, Leslie Clyde Nash of League City; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Walter Kinney

SWEETWATER - Walter Lewis 'Pete' Kinney, 73, a former material supervisor for Enron Oil and Gas Co., died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 1997, in San Angelo.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at McCoy Chapel of Memories in Sweetwater with Larry Fluitt and Rev. James Baker officiating. Burial will be at Pyton cemetery. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home.

He was born in Comancho, Okla., and was a resident of Sweetwater. He was a member of the Church of Christ and an Army veteran of World War II.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Twila Kinney of Sweetwater; son, Milton Kinney of Odessa; daughter, Judy Powers of Dallas; stepson, Darvin Hunter of Dallas; brothers, Bobby Kinney of Odessa and Al Kinney of San Angelo; sisters, Lillie Lofton and Thelma Martindale, both of Sweetwater; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Horace Miller

RIO VISTA - Horace H. Miller, 89, a retired oil-field contractor, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 1997, at Columbia Plaza Medical Center in Fort Worth.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Rio Vista with the Rev. Paul Pinyan ®MDNM¯officiating. Burial will be at Derden cemetery in Hill County. Arrangements by Crosier-Pearson-Mayfield Funeral Home.

He was born in Wayland and was a resident of Goldsmith from 1949 to 1970 and then Rio Vista. He was a Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Bernice Miller of Rio Vista; son, Lowell R. Miller of Springfield, Mo.; Harvy Miller of Granbury and Jimmie W. Miller of Palestine; daughter, Peggy A. Smith of Garland; brother, C.L. Miller of Moran and Harold Miller of Hamlin; sisters, Willie Mae Henry of McKinleyville, Calif., Grace Isabell of Midland and Pauline Hart of San Angelo; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Nell Rankin

RANKIN - Nell Franklin Rankin, 71, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 1997, in Rankin.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of Rankin. Burial will be at the Rankin cemetery. Arrangements with Richard W. Box Funeral Home.

She was born in Goldsboro and was a resident of Rankin. She was a Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Husband, John Homer Rankin of Rankin; son, Billy Jack Rankin of Bangs; daughter, Betty Jean Lester of Spring; sisters, Joyce Burkhead of Natchitoches, La., and Diane Basson of Florida; brothers, Cecil Franklin of Tampa, Fla., James Franklin of Arry, N.M., and Jesse Franklin of Hope, Ark.; and three grandchildren.

George Smith

PECOS - George T. Smith, 77, a retired construction worker, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 1997, at his residence.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Mount Evergreen cemetery with the Rev. James Sain officiating. Arrangements by Pecos Funeral Home.

He was born in Cottage Grove, Ore., and had been a resident of Pecos since 1944. He was a member of First Christian Church.

SURVIVORS: Son, Grady Smith of Pecos; daughter, Donna Sampson of Granbury; brother, Gavin Smith of Grants Pass, Ore.; sister, Evelyn Wunfch of Grants Pass, Ore.; seven granchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Richard Turner

ODESSA - Richard C. Turner, 64, a rancher and owner of Arc Pressure Data, of Odessa, died Monday, Dec. 1, 1997, at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Albuequerque, N.M.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Crescent Park Baptist Church with the Revs. John Dickerson, Craig Turner, Barry Owens and Gavin Vaughan officiating. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Roselaw Memorial Park in Denton.

Funeral arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

George Garrett

SEMINOLE - George J. Garrett, 83, of Seminole, a retired employee of Marathon Oil & Gas, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 1997, at his residence.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Gaines County cemetery with the Rev. Rayford Bates officiating. Arrangements by Ratliff Funeral Homes.

He was born in Dennison. He was a veteran of the Navy, having served in the South Pacific during World War II.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Nelda Garrett of Seminole; daughter, Donna Jacobsen of Wink; and four grandchildren.

Brittany Pacheco

ODESSA - Brittany Nicole Pacheco, infant daughter of Marcus and Shelly Pacheco of Odessa, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 1997, at Odessa Regional Hospital.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Odessa Funeral/Angeles Memorial Chapel.

She was born in Odessa.

SURVIVORS: Parents; sister, Mariah Pacheco of Odessa; grandparents, Eugene and Alice Young of Odessa, Ida and Whinford Johnson of Lubbock; and great-grandparents, Maria Pacheco of Lubbock, Lilly Johnson of Lubbock and Greture Edwards of California.

Zella Parsons

ODESSA - Zella Parsons, 95, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 1997, at Deerings Nursing Home.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

She was born in Madison County, Ark., and was a member of the Bible Baptist Church.

SURVIVORS: Seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
