Ramon Galindo
ODESSA — Ramon Galindo, 76, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, in Odessa after a lengthy illness.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife Rebecca; six wonderful children: daughter, Noemi Anderson and husband Jim of Fort Davis; sons, Raymond Daniel Galindo of Tacoma, Wash., Tony Galindo and wife Mary, Augustine Galindo and wife Janie, and Victor Galindo and wife Maria, all of Odessa, and Omar Galindo and wife Lillian of Southlake; as well as 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Augustine Galindo and Manuela Tavarez, and his daughter Martha Hudson.
He was born in Shafter, Texas, on June 30, 1926. He grew up in Presidio, Texas, and Chih, Mexico. Ramon was a building contractor in Odessa for 47 years. He was a member of St. Anthony’s and St. Mary’s Catholic Churches. He was a founder of the Southside Barrio Lions Club, director of the International Lions Clubs, past president of the Basin Lions Club and a member of the Knights of Columbus since 1958. He was one of the first Hispanic businessmen in Odessa and was nominated for SBA Businessman of the Year. He was also involved in many charities and fund-raisers.
Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Frank W. Wilson Funeral Chapel. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Revs. Frances Frey and Gilbert Rodriguez officiating. Burial will follow at the Ector County cemetery.

Fleta Mae Carnes
ANDREWS — Fleta Mae Carnes, 89, of Andrews, left her most recent life of physical pain and suffering to go to a victorious and joyful eternal life with Jesus Christ, her Savior and Lord, on Friday, Nov. 15, 2002, at the Hospice House in Odessa.
Fleta was born March 13, 1913, in Lassater to Lee and Jimmy Bell Lemmons. She married
Leslie M. Carnes, Sr., her husband of nearly 60 years, in Frederick, Okla., on August 31, 1930, just a few months after her high school graduation in Shreveport, La. Leslie passed away August 21, 1990.
Fleta had lived in Andrews the past 39 years, where she enjoyed teaching school, helping friends and shut-ins, cooking sumptuous meals for family and others and in worshipping her Lord with friends in First Baptist Church of Andrews. She was a most faithful and dedicated Christian servant, strongly devoted to her church and family. She was affectionately known as “MeMo” to her family and supported every family member by her prayers and often times with her material possessions.
Her beloved son, Phillip, preceded her in death in 1988.
She is survived by her older son, Leslie M. Carnes, Jr. of Midland; two daughters-in-law, Freddye Carnes of Midland and Don Nell Cunningham of Austin. Four granddaughters, who will greatly miss their “MeMo”, are Danielle Puryear of Midland, Julie Morgan of Amarillo, Pam Christopher of Fort Worth, and Lori King of Rowlett; 10 great grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002, in the Andrews West cemetery with Dr. H.A. Hanks of Andrews officiating.
Family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002, at McNett Funeral Home.

Esther R. Woullard
ODESSA — Esther R. Woullard, 83, of Odessa passed away Thursday, Nov. 14, 2002, at the Hospice House. She was born Sept. 2, 1919, in Albert Lea, Minn. She married
Connie Woullard Oct. 3, 1943, in San Diego.
Mrs. Woullard has lived in Odessa since 1971. She was a homemaker and a member of Highland Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Connie Woullard of Odessa; daughters, Kathy Hines and husband Jack of Midland and Sally Hollon and husband Rick of Odessa; brothers, Howard Ringham of Iowa and Chris Ringham of Monroe, La.; sisters, Bernice Paczkowski and Kathryn Barnick, both of Albert Lea, Minn.; four grandchildren, Stephen Hines and wife Sherry of Frisco, Jim Hollon and wife Gina of Odessa, Jennifer Manley and husband Stephen of McDonald, Pa., and Jill McCarthy and husband Kevin of Richardson; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 18, 2002, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mark Scott officiating. Interment will follow in the Kermit cemetery in Kermit.
The family will meet with friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Jim F. Frost
ODESSA — Jim Frank Frost, 94, long time resident and businessman in Monahans and Odessa, died on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2002. Jim and his wife Anice were founders and owners of Frost Bakery and faithful members of First Baptist Church in Monahans and then First Baptist Church in Odessa.
Frost was born February 12, 1908, in Merkel, Texas, the son of John and Ida Petty Frost, who made Robertson County his childhood home. Having made a personal commitment to Christ while plowing in a peanut field at eight years of age, he became a member of the Henry Prairie Baptist Church.
At 19 years old, he moved to Pecos to begin work at Pecos City Bakery where he met his future bride, Anice Buchanan. Married on October 3, 1936, they soon moved to Monahans, to begin Frost Baking Company.
Through God’s blessing, the business prospered, and in 1955 it was moved to a new modern baking facility in Odessa and renamed Frost Bakery Inc. Bread was distributed throughout the West Texas area. Many remember their school tours at Frost Bakery and the smells and delicious tastes of fresh hot bread. Frost served as president and manager until 1974 at which time the bakery was sold to Furrs Inc., and his son, Jack, continued the operation as president and manager.
In Monahans, Frost served as deacon in First Baptist Church, Chairman of the Board of Directors of First National Bank, Monahans Lions Club, and Board of Directors of Paisano Baptist Encampment in Alpine.
In Odessa, he served First Baptist Church as deacon as well as member of several church committees. He was the oldest living deacon there. He also has been a longtime member of Odessa Downtown Lions Club.
Jim and Anice leave to their children and the many who knew them a heritage of spiritual values and sincere kindness. They are survived by Jack and Colene Frost of Odessa, Bert and Tana Frost of Odessa, and Jim and Emily Frost of Bolivar, Missouri, as well as by eight grandchildren, and by 16 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, at Frank Wilson Funeral Directors, 4635 Oakwood Drive in Odessa. Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, at the Worship Center of First Baptist Church, Odessa. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Buna Fay Collier
ODESSA — Buna Fay Collier, 84, of Odessa, died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, at Hospice House. She was born July 16, 1918, in Princeton.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, in the chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors with the Rev. Johnny Thomason officiating. Interment will be at 2 p.m. at Pyron cemetery near Snyder.
Mrs. Collier moved to Odessa in 1944 from Bisbee, Ariz. She and her husband Robert were the owners of Collier Laudromat and she was a member of the Central Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Collier of Odessa; daughters, Janice Fay and husband Mike Harp of Waller, Bobbie Gayle Badger of Midland; grandsons, Brian Harp and wife Cheri, Robert Badger Jr. and Matthew Badger; great-grandchildren, Brittany, Allison and Morgan; sister, Alene Mondy of Odessa; brother, Hollis Carman of Palestine; and several nieces and nephews.

Jesusita G. Diaz
ODESSA — Jesusita G. Diaz, 80 years of age, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002 at Medical Center Hospital. She was born on August 9, 1922 in Ft. Stockton. She married
Pablo Diaz on July 25, 1949, in Fort Stockton and has been in the community since 1952. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Lionarez Gonzales, sister, Paula Donnelly, brother, Reymundo Gonzales. She is survived by her husband, Pablo Diaz of Odessa; daughters, Cruz Diaz, Gloria Veloz and Ernestina Romero, all of Odessa; brothers, Marcial Gonzales and Sisto Gonzales, both of Odessa, and Guillermo Gonzales of Dallas; sisters, Maria Gonzales, Josie Simmons, Bernarda Sanchez and Juliana Pacheco, all of Odessa; grandchildren, Jesus Romero III, Juan Pablo Romero and Frederick Moses Veloz; and great-grandchildren, Kimberly Ann Romero, Emily Lynn Romero and Jesus Romero IV.
A rosary will be recited on Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002, at 7 p.m. at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 29, 2002, at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Gilbert Rodriguez officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert Sanchez, Michael Sanchez, Avery Simmons, Jose Pacheco, Joel Gonzales, Adan Sanchez, Reynaldo Sanchez and Steven Rojo.

Jacobs Price ‘Jake’ Roach
ANDREWS — Jacobs Price “Jake” Roach, 93, of Andrews passed away Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, in Andrews.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at Means Memorial United Methodist Church in Andrews. Rev. Bob Zap will officiate. Burial will be in Andrews West cemetery.
Jake was born March 2, 1909, in Paint Rock. He married
Aliene Reynolds in 1936 and moved to Andrews in 1943 with his family. Aliene preceded him in death in 1990. He worked for Exxon for 45 years. He was a West Texas Rancher. He was a member of Means Memorial United Methodist Church since 1943. He was a founding member of the Andrews Country Club. He served as President of the Andrews School Board and Permian General Hospital. He was honored as citizen of the year in Andrews in 1985.
In August 1991, he married
Dorothy Belcher.
He is survived by: Wife, Dorothy Roach of Andrews; daughter, Barbara Armstrong of Andrews; sister, Reba Lochabay of Snyder; and grandchildren, Sheri Jones of Lubbock, Kevin Whelchel of Houston and Cody Whelchel of Andrews; and great-granddaughter, Baili Jones of Lubbock.
Services are under the direction of McNett Funeral Home in Andrews.
Ruby Burrow
MIDLAND — Ruby Burrow passed away Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002, at Midland Memorial Hospital.
Ruby Jane Cannon Burrow was born December 22, 1918, in Red River Parrish, La., to Bidie and Fronie Stapler Cannon. Ruby grew up in Jones County, Texas. She married
Zack Burrow in 1935 in Hamlin. They moved to Midland in 1945. Ruby was a nurses aide for 19 years at Midland Memorial Hospital and a member of Living Way - Four Square Church of Midland.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Zack Burrow; three daughters, Dorothy Walker, Fern Duncan, and Leona Hodges; and one son, George “Joe” Burrow.
She is survived by one son, Kenneth Burrow and his wife, Jeannie of Midland; three daughters, Sue Sowers and her husband, Jesse of Pennsylvania, Claujean “Super” Hankins and her husband, Charles of Odessa, and Josie Cooper and her husband, James of Midland; one brother, Pete Cannon of Roswell, N.M.; 25 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, 2002, at Ellis Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002, at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. “Jr” Erwin officiating, assisted by J.D. Crawford. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Maria Tavarez
ODESSA — Maria Tavarez, 60, of Odessa passed away Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002, at her residence. She was born to Pedro and Salome Flores Jan. 18, 1942, in El Vado de Piedra, Chih, Mexico. She married
Fransico Tavarez in Ojinaga, Chih, Mexico, and came to Odessa in 1980. She was a homemaker, Christian and a member of the Cathedral De Alabanza Church.
Services are scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002 at 3 p.m. at the Cathedral De Alabanza Church, 601 N. Lauderdale, with the Rev. Pedro Emiliano officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Interment will be at Rose Hill cemetery.
She is preceded in death by her parents Pedro and Salome Flores. Survivors are husband, Francisco Tavarez of Odessa; sons Francisco Javier Tavarez, Gerardo Tavarez and Jorge Tavarez, all of Odessa; daughters, Rosa Ramon of Lubbock, Maria Isabel Acosta and Beatrice Tavarez, both of Odessa, and Ayde Tavarez of Mississippi; brothers, Manuel Flores of Los Angles, Calif., and Refugio Flores of Presidio; sisters, Antonia Ronquillo of Ojinaga, Chih, Mexico, Reyes Vega of El Paso, Maria Luz Hinojos, Dulces Adame and Alicia Quinonez, all of Odessa; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
