Hipolito Herrera

ODESSA - Hipolito Paul Albidrez Herrera, 52, a machinist, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 1997, at Medical Center Hospital.

Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with the Rev. David Herrera officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemtery. Arrangements made by the Odessa Funeral Home.

He was born July 26, 1945, in Sierra Blanca.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Maria Linda Herrera of Odessa; son, William Anthony Herrera of Odessa; daughter, Barbara Martinez of Colorado City; mother, Rosa Albidrez of Odessa; brothers, Manuel Herrera of Hobbs, N.M., Jose (Pepe) Herrera of Pecos; Frank Herrera of Windsor, Calif., Roberto Herrera of Tulsa, Okla. and Gregorio (Gayo) Herrera and Osbaldo (Waldo) Herrera, both of Odessa; sisters, Gloria Carrasco and Celia (Sally) Valdez, both of Odessa, and Carolina (Caro) Ramos of Santa Rosa, Calif. and three grandchildren.

James Jones

BROWNWOOD - James G. 'Jerry' Jones, 66, a former Odessa resident and minister, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 1997, at University Medical Center in Lubbock.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First Christian Church with the Rev. Jim Smith officiating. Arrangements made by Davis-Morris Funeral Home.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and member of the Disciples of Christ Christian Church.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Myrtle Jones of Lake Proctor; daughters, LaDell Garrett of McCamey, Sherry Maulden of Wichita Falls and Yvonne Petross of Lamesa; sister, Billye Leuthold of Reno, Nev.; brother, Richard D. Jones and seven grandchildren.

Ursulo Llanez Jr.

ODESSA - Ursulo Albert Llanez Jr., 14 months, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 1997.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Rose Hill cemetery's Babyland with a Catholic deacon officiating. Arrangements made by Martinez Funeral Home.

He was born Oct. 4, 1996, in Odessa.

SURVIVORS: Parents, Ursulo Albert Llanez Sr. and Emma Garcia of Odessa; sister, Kasie Nicole Llanez; half-sister, Brittany Llanez; half-brother, Albert Anthony Llanez; grandparents, Ismael and Delfa Duran and Ursulo M. Llanez and Lucy Llanez, all of Odessa.

Jesus Marquez

ODESSA - Jesus Lerma Marquez, a newborn, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 1997, at Medical Center Hospital.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Rose Hill cemetery's Babyland with a Catholic deacon officiating. Arrangements made by Martinez Funeral Home.

SURVIVORS: Parents, Armando Marquez and Yadira Lerma of Odessa and grandparents, Natasio and Rosalinda Lerma and Elsa Marquez, all of Odessa.

Merle Shaffer

JAL, N.M. - Merle Shaffer, 80, died Friday, Dec. 5, 1997, at his residence in Jal, N.M.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Mountain Time Church of God with the Rev. Michael Mays officiating. Burial will be in the Jal cemetery. Arrangements made by the Cooper Funeral Chapel.

He was a Jal resident for 37 years.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Jean Shaffer of Jal; daughters, Carol Redding of Ingram and Donna Armstrong of Jal; sisters, Bessie Swearengin and Ella Mae Price, both of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Wayne Tyler

ODESSA - Wayne Tyler, 59, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 1997, at Memorial Rehabilitation Hospital in Midland.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors chapel. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements made by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

He was born Sept. 10, 1938, in Clarksville. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Sharon Tyler of Odessa; mother, Ella Tyler Anderson of Clarksville; daughters, Tammy Jarrell of Odessa, June Hurst of Lubbock and Sheerie Tyler of Odessa; brother, Weldon Tyler of Longview; sisters, Dorothy Scott of Clarksville and Dorris Foreman of Odessa; and six grandchildren.

Ballard Wise

ODESSA - Ballard Leon Wise, 90, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 1997, in the Stanton Care Center.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Highland United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Z. Ring III officiating. Graveside services will be Saturday, Dec. 13, 1997, at the Swink cemetery in Swink, Okla. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

He was born Nov. 28, 1907, in Pattonville. He had moved to Odessa in 1952 and was a Methodist.

SURVIVORS: Son, Donald Leon Wise of Greenwood; daughter, Judith Shields of Spring; sister, Edith Ferguson of Soper, Okla.; brothers, Morris Wise of Santa Ynez, Calif. and John Wayne Wise Jr. of Fort Worth; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Willie Creear Sr.

ODESSA - Willie Creear Sr., 71, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 1997, at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Big Spring.

Services are pending with the Martinez Funeral Home.

Matilde Arreola

ODESSA - Matilde O. Arreola, 87, a homemaker, of Odessa died Monday, Dec. 8, 1997, at Medical Center Hospital.

Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at El Ultimo Refugio-El Mulato in Ojinaga, Mexico.

SURVIVORS: Son, Manuel Arreola of Odessa; daughters, Maria Gomez of El Mulato, Chihuahua, Mexico, Lupe Viscaino of Alpine, Sara Pando of Kermit, Berta Ramos of Andrews and Mary Lou Pacheco of Odessa; brother, Agustin Olivas of El Mulato, Chihuahua, Mexico; sister, Erculana Olivas of El Mulato, Chihuahua, Mexico; 39 grandchildren; and 73 great-grandchildren.

Armando Garcia Sr.

BARSTOW - Armando Garcia Sr., 61, a carpenter, of Lubbock died Saturday, Dec. 6, 1997, at his residence.

Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Martinez Funeral Home in Pecos. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Refuge in Barstow with the Rev. Antonio Mena officiating. Burial will be in the Barstow cemetery. Arrangements by Resthaven Funeral Home in Lubbock.

He was born in Presidio and moved to Lubbock in 1963 from Barstow.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Otilia Garcia of Lubbock; sons, Jesus Garcia, Armando Garcia Jr. and Cruz Garcia, all of Lubbock; daughters, Virginia Trevino of Dallas, Elodia Hanes of Lubbock and Corina Flores of El Paso; brothers, Jose Garcia of Barstow and Robert Garcia of Lubbock; sisters, Flora Baca of Pecos, Elosia Rubi of Riverside, Calif., and Chavela Ramos of Abernathy; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Cornelia Kennedy

AUSTIN - Cornelia Kennedy, 91, of Austin died Saturday, Dec. 6, 1997, in Austin.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. today in the Colonial Chapel of Cook-Walden Funeral Home with the Rev. Woody Berry officiating. Burial will be at Austin Memorial Park. Arrangements by Cook-Walden Funeral Home.

She was born in Austin and was a Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Daughters, Evelyn Byrom of Austin, Jerry Hudson of Georgetown and Barbara Craig of Odessa; brother, Curtis Mosteller of Austin; sister, Ruth Wolfe of Austin; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Hipolita Rodriguez

IMPERIAL - Hipolita Chavarria Rodriguez, 76, a homemaker, of Monahans died Sunday, Dec. 7, 1997, in Monahans.

Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Monday at the Community Center in Imperial. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. today at Our Lady of Lords Catholic Church. Burial will be at Imperial cemetery. Arrangements by Harkey Funeral Home.

She was born in Ruidosa and was a longtime resident of Monahans. She was a Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Sons, Luciano Rodriguez of Grandfalls, Philpe Rodriguez of Laredo, Margarito Rodriguez of Odessa and Victor Rodriguez of Iraan; daughters, Tina Pratt of Monahans, Dolores Garcia and Josie Sanchez, both of Coyanosa; brothers, Guadalupe Chavarria and Jesus Charvarria, both of Artesia, N.M.; sisters, Angelita Arango of Artesia, N.M., Gloria Feirro and Maria Cartages, both of San Jose, Calif., and Petra Machuca of Pecos; 26 grandchildren; and 39 great-grandchildren.
