ODESSA — Lewis Carl Webb, 83, of Odessa, a retired operator, died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
He was born in Saint Jo. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He was a Marine Corps veteran.
SURVIVORS: Son, Lewis M. Webb of Odessa; daughters, Darlene Bronaugh of ODessa and Tammy Spolton of Artesia, N.M.; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Margaret Ellen Davis
ODESSA — Margaret Ellen Davis, 70, of Odessa, died Thursday, November 7, 2002, at her residence. She was born to Ollie and Grace Keese October 29, 1932, in Utopia. She was raised in The Hill Country.
She met and later married
Billy N. Davis June 12, 1959, in Monahans. She was a homemaker most of her life. Margaret was a Christian and was a very devoted and loving wife and mother. She passed after a lengthy illness.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, November 8, 2002, at Zion Christian Church. Graveside services will follow at 3 p.m. at Monahans Memorial cemetery with the Rev. Dewey Blevins officiating.
Pall bearers will be Ronnie J. Williams, Ronnie J. Williams, Jr., Terry Raines, Chester “Pepper” Morris, and Dennis Morris.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son, three brothers and two sisters. Survivors include her husband, Billy N. Davis of Odessa; daughters, Billie Ellen Wells and Tamara “Bamm” Williams, both of Odessa; stepdaughters, Norma Davis and Betty Whitlock, both of Oklahoma City, Okla.; brother, Tommy Keese of Albany; sisters, Ruby Whit of Sweetwater, Kay Watts of Monahans and Rhonda Johnston of Casper, Wyo.; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Gladys Opal Harwell
ODESSA — Opal Harwell, 86, of Odessa, died Tuesday, November 5, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. She was born June 2,1916, in Corsicana, Texas to William and Mary Atkeisson. Opal worked many years on the family farm and also in the cotton mill in Corsicana where she meet James Harwell and they married
March 27,1948.
She came to Odessa in 1960 from Corsicana. She was a housewife and a member of the Church of Christ. Opal loved camping, fishing and being with her family. She will be deepley missed by all who knew her.
Funeral Service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9,2002, in the chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors with Don Belk+ officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include daughter, Shirley Taylor of Odessa; son Don Hardee of Odessa; 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Opal was preceded in death by her parents, husband James Harwell, son Joe Hardee, and brothers Billy Atkeisson and Otis Atkeisson.

John Matthew Novak
ODESSA — John Matthew Novak, 71, of Odessa passed away Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born Feb. 26, 1931, in Van Houten, N.M. He married
Johnnie Roberts Feb. 9, 1948, in Odessa. He was a retired roughneck and a Jehovahs Witness. He enjoyed fishing and gunsmithing.
He was preceded in death by son Steve Novak.
He is survived by his wife, Johnnie Corine Novak of Odessa; sons, Barry Novak of San Antonio and Lance Novak of Odessa; daughters, Lauren Musquiz, Debra Rodriguez and Mary Novak, all of Odessa, Shelly Meyers of The Woodlands, and Crystal Thomas of Beaumont; brothers, Frank Novak, Jr. of Fort Stockton, Larry Novak of Fort Worth, Phillip Novak of Marshall, Ark., Norbert Novak of Arkansas, Stanley Novak of Graham, and Bobby Daniels of Washington; sisters Sandra Demousett of Colmesneil, Margie Golden of Whitney and Ida Roberts of Missouri; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Geraldine ‘Gerry’ Thompson
ODESSA — Geraldine “Gerry” Thompson, 78, of Odessa passed away Thursday, November 7, 2002, at the Hospice House. She was born September 22, 1924, in Mount Vernon, Ill. She married
Roy D. Thompson October 17, 1954, in St. Louis, Mo.
Mrs. Thompson moved to Odessa in 1985 from Missouri. She was a retired Credit Union clerk and a member of Rock Hill Baptist Church in Rock Hill, Mo. She loved to sew.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Lela Rose, and sister, Dena Zimmerman.
She is survived by her husband, Roy Thompson of Odessa; sister, Nadine Sims and husband John of Gardendale; brothers-in-law, Stanley Thompson of Imperial, Mo., Elmo Thompson of Eminence, Mo., Wayne Thompson of Eureka, Mo., and Donald Thompson of St. Louis, Mo.; sisters-in-law, Thelma Chapel of Alton, Ill., Mabel Weller and Erma Young, both of Salem Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 12, 2002, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Jesus P. Navarrette
WHARTON — Funeral services for Jesus P. Navarrette Sr., 75, of Wharton, were held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church with the Rev. Raymond Jackson officiating. Burial followed at Wharton County cemetery. Rosary was held Wednesday at Matthews Funeral home.
Mr. Navarrette died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, at Southwest Memorial Hospital. He was born March 30, 1927, in Ojiniga, Mexico, to Manuel and Alefonsa Perez Navarrette.
He married
Jesusita Ontiveras and she preceded him in death. Mr. Navarrette had been a resident of Wharton for four years and worked as a laborer. He was Catholic by faith.
Survivors include daughters, Margarita Wilkerson and Nora Navarrette; sons, Jessie Navarrette Jr., Rodolfo Navarrette and Octavio Navarrette; sisters, Maria Guiterez, Pilar Gomez and Cruz Navarrette, all of Ojiniga, Mexico, Maria “Cuca” Davila of Odessa, Angelica Pina of Presidio and Pimaña Peña of Pecos; 17 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Jason C. Sloniger
DALLAS — Jason C. Sloniger, our beloved son, brother and friend, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2002, in Denton. He was born into this world Feb. 26, 1969, in Odessa to Jimmy and Lillie Sloniger.
He co-owned and operated a successful architectural iron business with Scott Meyers. Jason was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all. If you ever met him, you were sure never to forget him.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Beulah Cobb; grandfather, Ed Marks; uncle, Pete Sloniger; and cousin, Mark Kendricks.
A memorial was held Nov. 21, 2002, in Dallas. Survivors include his mother and father, Jimmy and Lillie Sloniger of Odessa; two sisters, Monica Granath of Round Rock and Dana Maples of Odessa; aunt and uncle, Bea and Ronald Hullum of Odessa; nieces, Kayla Sloniger and Kelsey Granath, both of Round Rock; nephews, Brad and Nick Maples, both of Odessa; grandmother, Ellen Marks of Odessa; and cousins, Rhonda Mullins of Garland and Marnie and Ethan Neves of Midland.
Louine Graham
Louine Graham passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born in Temple on August 6, 1936. She was a graduate of Odessa High School and received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Scott and White Hospital.
She later served as Director of Nurses for Permian General Hospital in Andrews for five years. Until the time of her death, she was employed as an RN supervisor for Outreach Health Services.
Louine was preceded in death by her father, Reverend Jimmy Dolan, a founding member of Immanuel Baptist Church, her mother Nell Rector, and her brother, Jimmy Dolan, and sister, Pat Fox.
Survivors include her husband of 40 years, David Graham of Odessa; her daughter, Natalie Leach and her husband Jason of Odessa; her son, Russell Graham and his wife Alicia, and their seven-week old daughter, Lia, of Texarkana; her brother, Don Dolan and sister, Marianne Crane, both of Odessa, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Above all, Louine was a kind and caring person. She received her greatest enjoyment from helping others, be they her family, friends, or those under her professional care. She constantly sought to improve the lives of those around her. By all who knew her well, Louine will be remembered as a quiet, loving woman. Although gentle in nature, her absence signals the departure of a graceful and vibrant spirit. It is with fond remembrance that we celebrate her life.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Chapel with Reverend Andy Philpott officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
Jerry Dean Bruce
ODESSA — Jerry Dean Bruce, 72, of Odessa passed away Thursday, Nov. 7, 2002, in Odessa. He was born July 29, 1930 in Ardmore, Okla. He married
Marjorie Tacha May 16, 1977, in Las Vegas, Nev.
Mr. Bruce was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and has lived in Odessa since 1975. He was a self-employed trucker and a member of the American Truck Drivers Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Bruce of Odessa; son, Michael Conn of Odessa and Randy Conn of South Haven, Miss.; brothers, Larry Bruce of Kentucky and Victor Bruce of Rochester, Minn.; two grandchildren, Jason Conn and Justin Conn, both of Odessa.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Bill Counts officiating.
