Frances Owens
ODESSA — Frances Owens, a resident of Odessa for 12 years, passed from this life Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, at the age of 75. She was born Feb. 23, 1937, in Dawson County.
Frances was a member of First Baptist Church in O’Donnell where she grew up. She loved to read, sew and shell pecans. She also enjoyed listening to country music and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, JoAn Lee and husband, Jerry, of Odessa, Anita Denny of Odessa, Joyce Waterfill and husband, Ron, of Kentucky; sons, Jimmy Cook and wife, Debbie, of Midland, Doug Cook and wife, Cindy, of Kyle, Paul Cook and wife, Nancy, of Odessa and Milton Lee Owens of Ballinger; brothers, Alvis Howell of Spokane, Wash., and Martin Howell of Yukon, Okla.; sisters, Lavada Flood of Odessa and Linda Crutcher of Hobbs, N.M.; grandchildren, Jay Lee, Jon Lee, Jera York, Beverly Allgeier, David Waterfill, Victoria Wilkerson, Tanya Williams, Toby Cook, Stephen McMurrian, Julie Cook, Christina Lyons and Jennifer Korn; and 13 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Chapel Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, with Rev. Jimmy Dennis officiating. Interment will be at Gail cemetery in Gail at 2 p.m. Jan. 14, 2003.
Arrangements are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.

Genevieve Sherman
ODESSA — Genevieve Sherman, 96, of Odessa died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003, at her residence. She was born June 3, 1906, to T.J. and Mary Belle Duncan in Oklahoma Territory and lived in Oklahoma City until 1997 when she moved to Odessa.
Genevieve married Byron Sherman Dec. 1, 1927. Byron preceded her in death Aug. 29, 1964. She was employed as a proofreader for many years at The Leader Press. She was a member of Crown Heights United Methodist Church and attended St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Odessa. Genevieve was “Sooner born and Sooner bred” and she’s still a Sooner.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Elizabeth Knox, and a brother, T.J. Duncan Jr.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Allred and husband, Richard, of Odessa; her son, Byron “Ben” Sherman Jr. and wife, Mary Anne, of Edmond, Okla.; granddaughters, Deanna Howard and husband, Curt, of Monahans, Emily Peck and husband, Ian, of Grapevine and Carrie Ann Shenk and husband, Joe, of Oklahoma City; grandson, Stephen Allred and wife, Amy, of Houston; and great-grandchildren, Tams and Taylor Howard, William Peck and Genevieve Anne Shenk.
The family will be available for visitation from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003, at Memorial Park cemetery in Oklahoma City.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 1601 E. 42nd St., Odessa, 79762; Crown Heights United Methodist Church, 1021 NW 37, Oklahoma City, OK 73118; or Southern Hills Christian Church, 3207 S. Boulevard, Edmond, OK 73013.

Shannon Ray Jackson
ODESSA — Shannon Ray Jackson went home to be with our Savior Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003. He died at his home in Austin. A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 16 at Kelview Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Berry officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Pipkin Funeral Home.
Shannon was born Sept. 28, 1978, in Portales, N.M., and was the son of Roy and Terri Jackson of Austin, formerly of Midland. He is a 1998 Lee High School graduate where he was involved in the Lee Choir. He was a lifelong member of Kelview Heights Baptist Church and was actively involved in his youth group there. He moved to Austin to help start a new church, Rockpointe Community Church of Leander and was actively involved in children’s ministries there. Shannon enjoyed golf and all sports.
He will be greatly missed by his parents; his sisters, Leigh-Anne Salcedo, and her husband, Daniel, and their daughter, Trinity, who dearly loved her uncle, all of Midland, and Shellie Jackson of Lynchburg, Va.; his grandparents, Robert and Gara Stallings and Bill and Nellie Snelson, all of Clovis, N.M.; his aunts and uncles, Robert Jr. and Glenda Stallings, Alan and Cara Stallings, Karen Waldron, Joe and Susie Wheeler and Dwayne and Jeannie Garrett; as well as numerous cousins and a large church family.
Pallbearers are Sidney Smith, Craig Holly, Mark Jones, Shane McNamara, Jeff Webb and Dennis Hodge.
Honorary pallbearers are Ron Smith, Stephen McGee, Keith Morgand, Captain McCurry and Jeff McCurry.
The family has set up a fund in order to assist with the funeral. Donations may be made to First American Bank (Account – Shannon Jackson Special).
Shannon loved the Lord and his family and friends. He has gone home.

Letha Flora
ODESSA — Letha Flora, 72, of Odessa, and formerly of San Angelo, died at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
Letha was born Jan. 16, 1930, in San Angelo. She was a security guard for Texas Instruments for many years.
She is survived by four children, Lanny Flora and wife, Jan, of Fort Collins, Colo., Brenda Menchaca and husband, Steve, of Odessa, Chuck Flora also of Odessa, and Rusty Flora and wife, Dyane, of Gardendale; seven grandchildren, Chris Flora, Irene Flora, Jim Latham, Mike Latham, Chad Flora, Lindsay Flora and Haley Flora; 10 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Wayne Chandler of San Angelo.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003, at Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Doyle Oliver officiating. Burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
The family wishes to thank Cheryl Farr, R.N., Home Hospice, Dr. Kendalwhal, Terry and Pat and a special thanks to Lori for all their dedication and kindness.

Justin Seth Anderson
ODESSA — Justin Seth Anderson, 19 years old, passed away Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003, near Comanche. He was born April 28, 1983, to Robert and Dale Anderson in Odessa. He graduated from Permian High School in May 2001.
Recently, he moved from Odessa to Comanche to live in the country, as he’d always wanted. While living there, he enjoyed many aspects of nature, such as hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed the outdoors by snow skiing and playing paintball games with his friends.
He will be greatly missed by a host of family and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Mr. F.R. Anderson, Jr.
Survivors include his parents, Robert and Dale Anderson of Odessa; his loving brother, Logan Anderson and sister-in-law, Kim Sturn, of Odessa; paternal grandmother, Mrs. F.R. Anderson of Winters; maternal grandparents, Joy and James Lowe of Longview and Jerry and Sandra Amos of Odessa; great grandmother, Mrs. Lillie Lindsey of Longview; uncles and aunts, F. Ross Anderson III and his wife, Yolanda, of Bisbee, Ariz., Byron and Dena Anderson of Lubbock, Deanna and Eddy Layman of Odessa, Debbie and Bob Reed of Divide, Colo., Jeff Amos, Greg and Janice Amos, Roger Perrin, Jim and Sandy Latham, all of Odessa. He is also survived by many cousins and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 17, 2003, in the chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors with Rev. Jimmy Cameron officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be donated in memory of Justin to St. Luke’s United Methodist Church Youth Group at 1601 E. 42nd in Odessa.

Juanita Hook
FORT STOCKTON — Juanita J. Lujan Hook of Lumberton, N.C., passed away peacefully in her home Monday, Jan. 13, 2003. She was born June 24, 1930, in Fort Stockton, Texas.
Juanita was a very loving and devoted sister, mother, wife, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her life was filled with great joy from all her family. She moved to Lumberton, N.C., in 1992. She and her husband Donald managed a trailer home park there in Lumberton, N.C. Her favorite past times were fishing and family get-togethers.
She will be missed deeply. She is preceded in death by two sons, Albert and Joe Alexander, and her brother, Sixto Jaquez.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Hook of Lumberton, N.C.; sister, Manuela J. Barrandey and her husband, Raul, of Fort Stockton; five daughters, Rose Mary Pena and her husband, Natalio, of Big Lake, Virginia Ortiz and her husband, Joe, and Donna Ontiveros and her husband, Eusebio Jr., all of Fort Stockton, Nellie Dominguez and her husband, George, and Sylvia Pletcher and her husband, Jeff, all of Lumberton, N.C.; three sons, Alonzo Lujan and wife, Alicia, and Angel Lujan and wife, Anna, all of Odessa, and Freddie Lujan of Fort Stockton. She is also survived by 36 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003, at the Fort Stockton Funeral Home. Mass of Resurrection will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 17, 2003, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Fort Stockton.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Joe Ontiveros, Raymond Diaz, Mark Dominguez, Eddie Lujan, Eusebio and Xavier Ontiveros.
Services are under the direction of Fort Stockton Funeral Home, 401 N. Nelson, Fort Stockton, Texas 79735.

Sybil Louise Inge
ODESSA — Sybil Louise Inge, 77, of Odessa went to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, Jan. 13, 2003. She was born Oct. 29, 1925, in Lamesa. She moved to Odessa in 1952 from Dallas. She married Chester William Inge March 27, 1943, in Hugo, Okla.
Sybil’s favorite past times included raising roses, cake decorating, doll collecting, bird watching and crafts. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She was a longtime member of Northside Bapist Church in Odessa.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Inge, in May 2001.
Survivors include three sons, Jim Inge and wife, Diana, of Fort Worth, Ron Inge and wife, Melissa, of Odessa and Marty Inge and wife, Adriana, of Midland; three daughters, Betty Hinnant and husband, Bob of Aztec, N.M., Judy Inge of Odessa and Jan Williamson and husband, Wes, of Euless; mother, Elsie Christopher of Odessa; brothers, Ray Christopher and wife, Linda, of Odessa, Jerry Christopher and wife, Linda, of Casa Grande, Ariz., and James R. Christopher and wife, Penny, of Perry, Okla.; sisters, Vivian McElyea and husband, Randy, of Odessa and Doris Billingsley of Hugo, Okla. Sybil is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Kristi Boden, Alan Hinnant, Brand Hinnant, Jason Inge, Christopher Inge, Danny Inge, A.J. Haney, Matthew Inge, Reed Smithson, Laurie Smithson, Trey Williamson, Alex Inge and Stephani Garcia; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, 2003, at Northside Baptist Church with the Rev. Clydell Chapman officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Rita Galindo
ODESSA — Rita Galindo, 65, of Odessa passed away Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003, at Seabury Nursing Home. Mrs. Galindo was born May 22, 1936, in Esperanza, Texas, to father, Manuel G. Lopez, and mother, Victoria Contreras, who both preceded her in death. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, January 20, 2003, at Martinez Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Partain officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery.
Survivors include sons, Ricardo Berdoza, Ruben Berdoza and Vicente Galindo, all of Odessa; daughters, Annabel Juarez, Elva Clark, Belia Flores, Romelia Tarin and Christina Estorga, all of Odessa; sister, Paula Vasquez of Phoenix, Ariz.; brothers, Catalino Lopez, Victor Lopez, Margarito Lopez and Manuel Lopez, all of Odessa; 26 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services under the direction of Martinez Funeral Home.

Eloisa Hernandez
ODESSA — Eloisa Hernandez, 82, a housewife and a Catholic, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003, at Odessa Regional Hospital. Mrs. Hernandez was born Feb. 4, 1920, in Marfa, Texas, to father, Juan Subia, and mother, Luz Rodriguez, who both preceded her in death. Mrs. Hernandez was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at Martinez Funeral Home. Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 20, 2003, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Serafin Avenido officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery.
Survivors include her daughters, Mary H. Rios and husband, Kelo, Olga Miranda, Viola Lambert and husband, Bill, and Angie Trevino and husband, Harvey, all of Odessa, and Terry Acord and husband, Wade, of Hutto; sons, Johnny “Gallo” Hernandez and wife, Sandra, and Edward Hernandez, both of Odessa, and Danny Hernandez of Conroe; brothers, Lalo Subia of California, Johnny Subia of Big Spring, Sisto Subia of Austin and Raymond Subia of Fort Worth; sisters, Olivia Porras, Nena Martinez, Concha Deleon and Trine Cochran, all of Big Spring, and Chema Mata of Fort Worth; 29 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Services under the direction of Martinez Funeral Home.

Charles Barnard Lambeth
ODESSA — Charles Barnard Lambeth was born Oct. 15, 1925, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to A.D. and Faye Lambeth. Charles was named in honor of the family doctor that delivered him at hone, Dr. W.C. Barnard.
Charles married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Power, in San Antonio, Texas, on Jan. 3, 1946. Pat and Charles had four children, Marla Lambeth Glass, Brian Lambeth, Jeffrey Lambeth and LeAnn Lambeth Rodgers.
Charles graduated from Corpus Christi High School and was a veteran of World War II where he served in the U.S. Air Force. After the war, Charles entered the University of Texas at Austin and received his Bachelor’s of Science degree. In 1949, he was accepted into the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, and graduated from the medical school with honors in 1953. Upon graduation, he went back to his hometown of Corpus Christi, Texas, and served his internship at Memorial Hospital. After the internship, Dr. Lambeth opened a general practice in Kingsville, Texas. During this time, he decided on a pediatric specialty and returned to UTMB in Galveston to further his education and completed his pediatric residency. In 1962, Dr. Lambeth received his certification from the American Board of Pediatrics.
Dr. Lambeth later moved to Odessa, Texas, in July of 1960, and opened a pediatric practice with special interest in learning-disabled and handicapped children. Dr. Lambeth’s dedication to pediatrics and education began a career devoted to the children and families of the Permian Basin.
Dr Lambeth was elected to the Ector County School Board and served from 1968 through 1974, serving as President from 1972 through 1974. He organized and served on the Permian Basin Advisory Committee for Learning Disabilities; served as Chief of Pediatrics at Medical Center Hospital and Women’s and Children Hospital; served as President of Ector County Medical Society and Medical Director of the Permian Basin Rehabilitation Center. In 1980, Dr. Lambeth attended the American Association of Pediatrics in-service training program on The Care of the Handicapped Child. He continually attended seminars and workshops keeping abreast of new medical research and received his re-certification by the Pediatric Board in 1981. He was a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Child Development, Texas Medical Association Committee on School Health, Texas Pediatric Society Committee on the Handicapped Child, Member of Texas Education Agency Advisory Committee on School Health and of the advisory committee on Early Childhood Intervention. He also served as an Associate Pediatric Clinical Professor at Texas Tech Medical School and was a member of the advisory board of Attention Deficit Disorder United Support of Odessa. Dr. Lambeth was a founder of Odessa Regional Hospital, formerly known as the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Odessa, Texas. Dr. Lambeth was also active and served on the board for the City of Midland Swim Team. In 1998, Dr. Lambeth was honored to receive an award presented by the Heritage of Odessa Foundation for Excellence in Community Service in the field of Health and Science. Dr. Lambeth enjoyed special interests, which included a love of music, Civil War history and genealogy.
His mother, Faye Lambeth; his father, A.D. Lambeth Jr.; and his brother, Dan Lambeth of Corpus Christi, Texas, preceded Dr. Lambeth in death.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Patricia Lambeth of Odessa, Texas. Family includes, Marla and Marty Glass of Lewisville, Texas; Brian and Earlene Lambeth of Austin, Texas; Jeffrey Lambeth and Felicia Gatlin of Dallas, Texas; and LeAnn Lambeth Rodgers of Denton, Texas. Dr. Lambeth was respected and loved by his grandchildren, Haley Gault, Kristin Gault, Christine Lambeth, Brady Lambeth, Kaci Lambeth, Tori Lambeth and Zachary Rodgers. Extended family includes, Monica Tanner, Zachary Glass, Casey Skelton, Thomas Skelton, Rachel Skelton, Natalie Skelton and cousin, Billy Harris.
Dr. Lambeth passed peacefully at Home Hospice in Odessa, Texas, on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, after a lengthy illness with Parkinson’s disease.
A memorial service will be held in celebration of his life at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003, at the Lutheran Church of the Risen Lord, in Odessa, with Pastor James Otterness and Pastor Chris Connor officiating. Interment will be on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003, in Corpus Christi at Seaside Memorial Park, 4357 Ocean Drive.
Honorary pallbearers include lifelong friends, Leon Martin, Dr. Dale Jones, Bill Norrod, cousin Dan Harris and grandchildren Zachary Rodgers and Brady Lambeth.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Parks Methodist Retirement Village, Younger Center at Manor Park in Midland, Texas, Midland Memorial Hospital and Home Hospice in Odessa, Texas.
For those who wish, memorial may be made in Dr. Lambeth’s memory to Home Hospice, 903 N. Sam Houston Ave., Odessa, TX, 79761.
