Donna Perkins
ODESSA — Donna Sue Perkins, 46, of Odessa passed away Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002, at the Hospice House. She was born Nov. 3, 1956, in Hobbs, N.M.
Donna was a very loving and caring person to all who she met. She did not judge others. She was always willing to help others. She loved country dancing. She was a member of the West Texas Singles and the V.F.W. Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Chambliss, brother, Clifford Chambliss, and step-father Herman Prentice.
She is survived by her mother, Doris Prentice of Odessa; daughters, Holly S. Perkins of Big Spring, Tamara Y. Perkins of Odessa and Cynthia D. Perkins of Odessa; sisters, Janice Payne of Weaverville, N.C. and Belinda Bilbrey of Blanket.
The family will meet friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Cathy Ragsdale
ODESSA — Cathy Rene Ragsdale, 44, of Odessa died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born Dec. 12, 1957, in Lubbock to Robert and Tahwanah McRee.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, at Immanuel Baptist Church with Dr. Mark Riley officiating. Interment will be at Resthaven cemetery in Lubbock.
Cathy was a member of the Odessa Chamber of Commerce, Immanuel Baptist and Odessa Board of Realtors. She was employed at First American Bank, as Mortgage Lending Assistance, where she received the honor of being named Texas State Employee of Year 2001.
She is survived by her daughters, Khara Rene Harris, Erica Anne Ragsdale and Rachel Alana Ragsdale, all of Odessa; their father, Ricky Ragsdale of Odessa; parents, Tahwanah and the late George Brown and Robert McRee of Lubbock; brothers, David Brown and Buddy Brown, both of Lakeland, Fla., Jimmy L. Brown and Danny McRee, both of Brownwood; sisters, Bridget Stroud of Austin and Sabrina Brown of Richardson; and two grandchildren.
In lieu of flower donations to American Cancer Society or Immanuel Baptist Church of Odessa.

Manuela Morales Armendariz
ODESSA — Manuela Morales Armendariz, our beloved mother, passed from this life on Friday, Dec. 27, 2002, at her residence. She was surrounded by her family.
Manuela was born Nov. 16, 1924, in Marfa, Texas, to Jose and Vinta Morales. She was a resident of Odessa since 1951.
Her religious affiliation was Catholic. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Manuela was also a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary Post 4372. She retired as a custodian from the V.F.W. Post 4372, after being employed there for 28 years.
Manuela had many favorite hobbies. Among them, she enjoyed Bingo and she loved running the flea markets at the V.F.W. She also loved and enjoyed her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Francis A. Baca.
Viewing was from noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and will be from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. today at Martinez Funeral Home. A rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30, 2002, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Serafin Avenido officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Federico Armendariz of Odessa; sons, Eddie Armendariz of Odessa and Maj. Jose L. Armendariz and wife Audrey of New Windsor, N.Y.; daughters, Socorro A. Gomez, Maria and husband Arturo P. Vasquez, all of Odessa, and Olivia A. Moreno and husband Pilar of Grand Prairie, Texas; 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Special thanks to Rural Hospice and staff, nurse Dalinda Cantu, Ismael and Syvia Sanchez, who cared for our loved one during her final days.
Floyd Sexton Chambers
ODESSA — Floyd Sexton Chambers passed away Dec. 27, 2002, at his home. Floyd was born in Hopeton, Okla., July 25, 1919, to Monty and Neta Chambers. He graduated from Avard High School in 1936.
After his father passed away, he helped his mother with the family farm. While helping with the farm, he answered his call to serve his country — enlisting in December of 1942. He did his basic training at Will Rogers Field in Oklahoma City. He was with the 47th Bomber Squadron. He was sent overseas for two and a half years, serving in Africa, Italy, France and Tunisia. He received the Silver Service Star, three Bronze Service Stars and Good Conduct Medal and Distinguished Unit. He was also a Staff Sergeant. He returned home July 1945. He was on his way to Japan when the atomic bomb was dropped, ending the war. He was discharged August 1945 and returned to the family farm. He was so proud to serve his country he became a lifetime member of the VFW.
After returning from the war, he started dating Verna Lee Simons, who became his wife June 30, 1946. From this union three children were born, Janet Rae, Floyd Alan and Monte William. They lived on the farm until 1952 when he went into construction work. He helped build concrete grain elevators, which brought him to Texas in June 1954. The family moved to Andres, Texas, to help build a gasoline plant. After living in Andrews, the family moved to Odessa in June of 1957. Wanting to stay close to home, Floyd became self-employed. He owned Chambers Battery and Electric from November 1959 to February 1972. Later on, he went back into construction work as a construction superintendent for Bowden Construction, Holloman Construction and Kelly Coppedge. He retired from Kelly Coppedge in 1996. He enjoyed all aspects of his work and took great pride in his responsibility and his safety record.
Upon his retirement Floyd kept busy by keeping his yard and caring for his two dogs, Rambo and Andrea. He also enjoyed using his hands doing woodwork and keeping things running around the home.
Floyd is survived by his wife of 56 years, Verna Chambers; daughter and son-in-law Jack and Janet Nance of Odessa; son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Vicki Chambers of Dallas, son, Monte Chambers of Austin; grandchildren, Kasey and Kristi Nance of Andrews, Darin Nance of Odessa, Alison and Eric Chambers of Dallas and Haylee Chambers of Austin Texas. Floyd also had numerous nieces, nephews and cousins living in Oklahoma, Kansas and Tennessee.
Family visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Chapel with Pastor Dale Garrison officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens cemetery.
Minnie Elizabeth Davis
MCCAMEY — Services for Minnie Elizabeth Davis, 104, of Carlsbad, N.M., are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at East Side Baptist Church in McCamey with Jeff McAnally officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven cemetery in McCamey.
Mrs. Davis died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002, at Lakeview Christian Home of the Southwest – Northgate Unit. She as born March 23, 1898, in Big Foot to Joseph Nathaniel and Nancy Elizabeth Leach Campbell.
After being raised in Big Foot, she met Jay V. Davis and married
him in September 1915 in Bedias, Texas. They lived there until 1926 when they moved to West Texas and settled in McCamey in 1936.
Mrs. Davis was postmaster of Bakersfield, Texas in 1934. She was very active in the First Baptist Church in McCamey, working in the children’s department. She loved little children. She moved to Carlsbad from Midland, Texas in 1987. She has been a resident of Lakeview Christian Home of the Southwest, Northgate Unit since 1987. She made many friends among the staff and residents at Lakeview and enjoyed all the activities. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. Her husband Jay V. Davis in 1961, nine sons and daughters and two sisters preceded her in death.
Survivors include her sons, Jay. V. Davis and wife Roylene of McCamey; daughters, Edna L. McAnally and husband Ed of Carlsbad, Nell R. McCamey and husband George of Enid, Okla. and Bette A. Luckey of Yukon, Okla.; 18 grandchildren; and 38 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ken McAnally, Bob Exum, Bill Sadler, Jim McCamey, Buddy McCamey, Zachary Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Dodd and Shannon Simpson.

Viola Modena Hayes
ODESSA — Viola Modena Hayes, age 89, of Odessa, died Friday, Dec. 13, 2002, at Hospice House. She was born April 15, 1913, in Sedrick, Kansas. She married
Everett V. Hayes Sept. 23, 1934, in Shilder, OK. He preceded her in death Oct. 28, 1999.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16, 2002, in the chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors with Pastor Paul Thompson officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Hayes was a member of the Assembly of God Church and was employed as a nurse before her retirement.
She is survived by daughter; Nancy Thompson of Odessa, sisters; Ella Cloud and Alemeta King of Calif., 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren.

Faye Porter
Faye Porter, age 75, of Odessa, went to be with her Lord and Creator on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital.
Graveside services are scheduled for 10 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Don Hetherington officiating.
Faye Porter was born April 28, 1927, in Smackover, Ark. to William and Velma Maxwell. She married
William Truman Porter in October of 1950 in Snyder, Texas.
He preceded her in death. They came to Odessa in 1955.
Faye had worked as a pastry cook for ECISD for 17 years. She was a member of the Food Service Club and a Baptist.
Faye was well loved by all that knew her and she will be truly missed.
Survivors include her son, William Ray Porter and wife Wanda of Waxahatchie; and a daughter, Carrie Jeffcoat and husband Jim of Odessa; four grandchildren and one great grandson.
The family requests that memorials be made to the West Texas Cancer Center.
