Charlie Mae Toliver
ODESSA — Charlie Mae Toliver, 62, passed from this life Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. She was born in Lamesa, Texas, August 5, 1940, to Charlie Frank and Melvina (Green) Spencer.
She graduated as Valedictorian from Blackshear Junior-Senior High School in 1959. She then attended the University of Texas. Her religious affiliation was Episcopal. Charlie was a retired U.S. Postal System Employee. Her father, Charlie Frank Spencer; and brother, Frank Howard Spencer, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her mother, Melvina (Green) Washington of Odessa; grandmother, Armellia Johnson of Odessa; daughter, Arlett Toliver of Odessa; son, Melvin Jerrod Toliver of Denver, Colo.; two sisters, Wanda Faye Gauthier of Alta Loma, Calif., and May Carr of Midland; three grandchildren, Tanaisha Mitchell, Macy Blaylock and Chace Blaylock of Odessa.
Public visitation will be Friday, Dec. 27, 2002, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002, at Martinez Funeral Home with the Rev. Nate Hearne officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill cemetery. Funeral arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.
Violet Marie Bell
ODESSA - Graveside services for Violet Marie Turner Bell, beloved wife of Leo A. Bell, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
On Dec. 22, 2002, Violet Marie Bell peacefully passed away at the Hospice House in Odessa surrounded by a loving family. She was born in Prague, Okla. She was the daughter of the late Calvin T. and Maria Turner. She graduated from Enid High School and married
Leo in 1942. Violet worked for Barnes Pellitier Shoes for 12 years. She was a member of the community for fifty years and a devout Christian of the First Baptist Church. She made many contributions through volunteer work at the Odessa Medical Center Auxiliary. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, homemaker and friend.
Violet is survived by her daughters, Paula Maria Bell Shahan of Abilene, Mary Elizabeth 'Beth' Bell Brantley and husband, James, of Odessa; grandchildren, Jeffrey W. Hawkins of Springfield, Mo., James William Brantley and wife, Tammy, of Tulsa, Okla., Jennifer W. Brantley of Pleasanton, Patricia M. (Shahan) Pierce of Odessa and Richard T. Shahan of Abilene; sisters, Daisy (Turner) Lemon of Enid, Okla., and Lovetta (Turner) Adrean and Ray of Vero Beach, Fla.; brother, Elmer Turner of Enid, Okla.; as well as many nieces, nephews, and four great-grandchildren.

James Benjamin Riffe Jr.
CROSS PLAINS - James Benjamin Riffe Jr. passed away Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, in Bastrop, Texas, after a long illness. He was born Sept. 1, 1929, in Albany to Ruth Jones and Ben Riffe.
He grew up in the Atwell Community. He graduated from Cross Plains High School in 1947. He was a longtime member of the Cross Plains Lodge No. 627. He was in sales all his life. Later, he had a small import business in Branson, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, K.B. Riffe, and three sisters, Edith Riffe, Ruby Nell Purvis and Ella Mae Doyle.
He is survived by one sister, Helen Faucett of Abilene; his wife, Zoika Riffe and their children, Shawn Riffe and Shelia Riffe, all of Centerville, Va.; a daughter, Tammy Patterson and family of Smithville; a son, Jimmy Riffe and family of Odessa; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held Dec. 21, 2002, at the Atwell cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to the Cross Plains EMS.
Edna Scott
ODESSA - Edna V. Scott, 86, of Odessa passed away Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born Feb. 21, 1916, in Boonesville, Mo., to Elijah and Ida Cox.
Church services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002, at Antioch Christian Church with Don Fankhauser officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Edna came to Odessa in 1960 from Grand Rapids, Mich. She married
Edward Scott, he preceded her in death. She retired in 1982 from Furrs Cafeteria after fifteen years. She was a member of the Antioch Christian Church.
She is survived by her three sons, Jack Scott and wife, Carol, of Odessa, Jimmy Scott of Ralls and Howard Scott of Mobile, Ala.; daughter, Linda Khulman and husband, Bill of Missouri City; 10 grandchildren, Steve, Tom, Terrie, Tammy, Tonya, Dianna, Aaron, Greg, Katy and Kenny; and 18 great grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to Antioch Christian Church.

Angel Pineda
ODESSA — Angel Guadalupe Pineda, 2 and a half year old son of Angel and Lucema Pineda of Odessa, passed away Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, in Ft. Worth, Texas. He was born June 23, 2000, in Odessa.
Surviving are his parents, Angel and Lucema Pineda of Odessa; grandparents, Angel and Norma Pineda of Odessa; grandmother, Margarita Zuniga of Odessa; grandfather, Pedro Amancio of Odessa; great grandmother, Nativadad Molina of Odessa; uncles, Rene Pineda and Raul Pineda, both of Odessa and Rolando Pineda of Mexico; and aunts, Maria Elena Hernandez, Norma P. Molina and Raquel Pineda Tarango, all of Mexico and Elsa Ulate of Odessa.
Visitation will be held at 2400 W. 8th St. today. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. at the family residence. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 26, 2002, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Gilbert Rodriguez officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery.

Nancy Marie Gregory
ODESSA — Nancy Marie Gregory, 41, of Austin passed away Friday, May 17, 2002. She was born Sept. 9, 1960, to Bill and Patsy Baldwin in Farmington, N.M.
Nancy married
Bill Gregory Oct. 6, 1979, in Dallas. They moved to Austin three years ago from Forney. She worked for Palomar Financial for 10 years as the director of finance. She enjoyed water skiing, crafts, flying and her dogs, Sergeant and Alex.
Her mother and in-laws Carl and Ora Lee Gregory preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Gregory of Austin; sons, Max Gregory and Chris Gregory, both of Austin; father, Bill Baldwin and wife Barbara of Odessa; stepbrother, William Thomas Jr. and wife Cindy of Wichita, Kan.; sisters, Karen Jackson and husband Rick of Odessa and Debby Greer and husband Rick Taylor of Big Spring; and stepsisters, Sarah Lauxman and husband Doug of Towanda, Kan., and Christine Werth and husband Ken of Wichita, Kan.
There will be a visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. today, May 21, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Terry Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Marion Juanita Young Clark
ODESSA — Marion Clark passed away at the age of 70 Monday, May 20, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital after a short illness. She had lived in Odessa since June 1956.
Marion was born June 21, 1931, to Henry and Katherine Young in Honolulu, Hawaii. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in San Antonio. Marion married
B.J. Clark on Oct. 1, 1949, in Randolph Field. Marion was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Odessa.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother.
Marion is survived by her husband, B.J. Clark; a daughter, Debbie McFarlane and husband James of Odessa; son, Robert Clark and wife Wendy of Plano; son, Chris Clark of Davenport, Fla.; a brother, Henry Young Jr. of San Antonio; and six grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, May 21, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Steve Deines officiating.

Susie Jewell Lawson
ODESSA — Susie Jewell Sadler Lawson, a loving Christian devoted to Christ, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, May 19, 2002, in San Angelo.
Mrs. Lawson lived in Odessa for over 35 years until she moved to San Angelo in 1996. She was born Sept. 28, 1915, in Altus, Okla., and married
Louie Harold “Pee Wee” Lawson in 1938. He preceded her in death in 1982. Mrs. Lawson was a longtime member of Temple Baptist Church and spent most of her life teaching Sunday school. She was a member of the Jolly Seniors at Temple Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Earnest Sadler and Darby Sadler of Altus, Okla.
She is survived by her son, Don Lawson and wife Mary of Odessa; daughter, Jeanette Bennett and husband Danny of San Angelo; two grandsons, Jack Lawson of Odessa and Dan Lawson and wife Susan of Katy; great-grandchildren, Danali Lawson of Katy, Heather, Hillary and Hunter Lawson of Sonora and Cindy Bennett of Midland; also numerous nieces and nephews; and two sisters-in-law, all of whom she loved very much.
Pallbearers are Jack Lawson, Dan Lawson, Don Hooper, Bill Myers, Jim Trainor and Sherman Norwood.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2002, at Temple Baptist Church with Dr. Griffin Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Donny Sanford
ODESSA — Donny Sanford, 54, of Odessa passed away Sunday, May 19, 2002, at the Presbyterian Hospital in Plano. He was born Oct. 14, 1947, in Kilgore. He moved to Odessa in 1954 from Kilgore and married
Judy Adams on June 4, 1969, in Odessa. He was owner of Sanford Sails from 1983 to the present time. He was a member of Calvary Chapel.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Sanford of Odessa; daughter, Cari Loffler of Odessa; uncle, Kenneth Sanford of Longview; mother, Aida Sanford of Odessa; brother, Mark Sanford of Odessa; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nephews and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2002, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors Leonard Cotten and Tony Garcia officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

FORT STOCKTON — Juan Aranda Carrasco, 86, of Fort Stockton, died Friday, Dec. 13, 2002, in Fort Stockton.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Agnes Catholic Church with the Rev. David Herrera officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be at Fort Stockton Catholic cemetery. Arrangements by Memorial Funeral Home.
He was a 63-year resident of Fort Stockton.
