MARFA — Genoveva Pacheco Zubiate, 89, of Sanderson, a restaurant owner, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, in Sanderson.
Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Rick Ruiz officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Merced cemetery. Arrangements by Memorial Funeral Home.
She was born in Shafter and moved to Marfa in the 1940s before moving to Sanderson. She was Catholic.

David E. Holster Jr.
MIDLAND — David E. Holster Jr. passed away Thursday, February 27, 2003, at his Midland residence. He was born March 31, 1921, in Yoakum, Texas, and moved to Midland in 1927. He graduated from Midland High School in 1938 and joined the Midland Post Office in 1941. David enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps in May, 1942, and served as a pilot until his release from active duty in November, 1945. He remained in the Air Corps and Air Force Reserve and was a retired Lieutenant Colonel. David was appointed Acting Postmaster on July 31, 1961, and was appointed Postmaster in July, 1963, by then President John F. Kennedy. He retired in 1983 after serving 25 years as Postmaster and 41 years with the postal service. A charter member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, David had served as Chairman of the Official Board and as Chairman of the Board of Trustees. He was a 32nd degree Mason and had been a member of Midland Lodge #623 AF & AM since 1942. He was past president and life member of Midland Scottish Rite Association, a member of Dallas Scottish Rite and a Knight Commander of the Court of Honor, Dallas Consistory. David was also a member of the Suez Temple and Midland Shrine Club. David was very active in the community, serving as past president of the Midland Downtown Lions Club; life member of Texas Lions Camp; past president of Tower League, Midland Junior Baseball Association; past president of Midland Toastmasters Club; past president of Midland Chapter, Reserve Officers Association; served seven years as Chairman of the Military Affairs Committee, Midland Chamber of Commerce; past chairman, Chaparral District, Boy Scouts of America; a Division Chairman of Midland United Fund. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly, in 1993; his mother and brother, Russell Holster. Survivors include a daughter, Debbie Roland of Gardendale and a son, David R. Holster of Midland, and six grandchildren. David is also survived by his close friend and companion, Relda Walker. Visitation will be held Sunday March 2, 2003, at Ellis Funeral Home between the hours of 6 and 8 p.m. Graveside services have been scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday, March 3, 2003, at Resthaven Memorial Park with Reverend Larry Bailey officiating. ODESSA — Geneva Lois Lester Hicks, 72, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at her residence.

She was born in Barstow. She attended First Nazarene Church.

MULLIN — H. Dean “Mac” McAtee, 76, of Odessa, a tool pusher, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, at his residence.

He was born in Elsworth, Kan. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Jerry P. Childs
EL DORADO, Ark. — Jerry P. Childs, age 69, of Boerne, Texas, died Sunday, March 2, 2003, of Parkinson’s Disease. He was born in Camden, Ark., October 4, 1933. He graduated from El Dorado, Ark., High School in Spring 1952. He then entered USAF in July 1952, receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1956.
He entered University of Arkansas School of Business Fall of 1956, graduated Business School, entered Law School and graduated in 1962. He passed the State of Arkansas and State of Texas Bar Examination, 1962, and began practicing law in Odessa, Texas until retirement in 1991. He served on the Board of Directors of the State Bar of Texas and Texas Trial Lawyers. He was a member of the American Bar and Texas Bar Foundation.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Verna Nell Chandler; and his brother, George Childs, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Childs of Boerne, Texas; son, Matt Childs and wife, Lisa, of Houston, Texas; daughter, Kim Earhart and husband, David, of Dallas, Texas; son, Michael Childs and wife, Gretchen, of Pearland, Texas; five granddaughters, one grandson; sisters, Ruth Davis of Mt. Holly, Ark., and Betty Butler of Pangburn, Ark.; brothers, Joe Childs of Mt. Holly, Ark., and Henry Childs of Downsville, La.; aunt, Myrtle Barr of Smackover, Ark.; uncle, Ralph Langley of Bryan, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Young’s Funeral Home in El Dorado, Ark.

ODESSA — Fleeta Roberta Reeder, 89, of Odessa, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born December 8, 1913, in Holyoke, Mass., to Fletcher and Roberta Walker. Memorial Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, March 10, 2003, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church with Rev. Mark Woodruff officiating.
Fleeta had been a resident Parks Methodist Retirement Village since June of 1998, moving from Orange City, Fla. Some of her loved pastimes were bowling and playing bridge. She was Catholic.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles K. Reeder; sister, Virginia Belle Hicks; brother, Robert N. Walker; and son, Patrick Reeder.
She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn R. Wilson of Odessa, Sharon Behr formerly of Florida, now residing in Odessa, and fiancé, Bill Bailey, of Odessa; brother, Cobourn Walker and wife, Lillian, of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sister-in-laws, Marguerite Reeder Lytell, and Louise Reeder of Florida; three grandchildren, DeAnn and Chris Wilson, both of Odessa, and Patrick Wieneke of Nashville, Tenn.; two great granddaughters, Keli Ann Wilson and Tiffany Wieneke of Nashville, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.

Woodrow Wilson Wheeler
ODESSA — Woodrow Wilson Wheeler, 89, of Odessa, passed from life March 4, 2003, at Hospice House in Odessa. He was born April 7, 1913, in Gouldbusk, Coleman County, Texas. He moved to Odessa in 1948.
He retired from Halliburton Oilfield Services in 1978 after 29 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bud Wheeler; mother, Lucy Anne O’Dell Wheeler; brothers, Doile S. Wheeler, Raymond G. Wheeler and Ralph E. Wheeler; and grandson, Randal W. Wheeler.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jewel V. Wheeler of Odessa; brother, Howard F. Wheeler of Poolville, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Shirley R. Cook and Kenneth L. Cook Sr. of Odessa; son, James R. Wheeler Sr. of Broken Arrow, Okla.; seven grandchildren, Karen Coffman of Midland, Kenneth L. Cook Jr. of Odessa, Steven R. Cook of Lubbock, Latricia L. Arnold of Arlington, Sheila A. Gathright of Abilene, James R. Wheeler Jr. of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Bryan J. Wheeler of Fort Worth; and eight great-grandchildren.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, March 8, 2003, at the Santa Anna, Texas, cemetery with the Rev. Chuck Reynolds of Abilene officiating. Memorials may be made to Hospice House of Odessa.
