Minnie Lee Jones

STANTON - Minnie Lee Jones, 78, a retired dietitian with Martin County Hospital, of Stanton, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 1997.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, 1997, at the Stanton Church of Christ with Ellmore Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen cemetery. Arrangements by Gilbreath Funeral Home.

She had been a resident of Stanton for almost 50 years. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

SURVIVORS: Sons, L.E. Jones of Fort Worth, Hebrew Jones, Jr. of Big Spring, David Jones of Bay City and Marvin Jones of The Woodlands; daughters, Bonnie Chavez of Capitan, N.M., Marva Scurlark of Odessa and Leatrice Thorns of Dallas; sister, Fannie McKnight of Houston; 19 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Leslie Little

GRANBURY - Leslie Jason Little, 25, a plumber, of Granbury, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 1997.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, 1997, at Wiley Funeral Home Chapel in Granbury with the Rev. Jerry Locke and the Rev. Jess Little officiating. Burial will be in the Acton cemetery in Acton. Arrangements by Wiley Funeral Home.

He was born in Guymon, Okla.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Christie Little of Granbury; son, Leslie Cord Little of Granbury; daughters, Shannon Kay Little and Morgan Taylor Little, both of Granbury; parents, Jess and Linda Little of Odessa; brother, Jess Craig Little of Silverton; and grandparents, Buddy and Ruth Buske of Cross.

Juanita Longoria

SEMINOLE - Juanita 'Janie' Subia Longoria, 63, of Tahoka, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 1997, in Tahoka.

Rosary was said Monday at St. James Catholic Church in Seminole. Mass will be celebrated at 4 p.m. today at St. James Catholic Church in Seminole with the Rev. Liam Sweeney officiating. Burial will be at Gaines County cemetery. Arrangements by Roger Pool Funeral Home.

She moved to Seminole from Big Lake in 1985, and moved to Tahoka in 1991. She was a Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Sons, Frank S. Longoria, Jr. of Denver City and David S. Longoria of Gatesville; daughter, Gloria Macharigui of Seminole; brothers, Ismael Subia of Odessa, A.R. Subia of Andrews and David Subia of Big Lake; sister, Elisa Gonzales of San Angelo; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Fred R. Manning, Jr.

ODESSA - Freddy Manning, 42, an employee with PMC Equipment of Odessa, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 1997, at University Medical Center in Lubbock.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Wylie Hurley officiating. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

He was born in Odessa.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Sherrie Manning of Odessa; son, Cole Manning of Odessa; daughters, Rachel Manning of Odessa and Emily Beth Manning of Buffalo Gap; mother, Faye Manning of Midland; father, Fred Manning, Sr. of Gatesville; and sister, Kelley Manning of Andrews.

Yula Sherrod

MONAHANS - Yula Dorothy Sherrod, 94, a retired switchboard operator with Ward Memorial Hospital, of Monahans, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 1997, at Monahans Senior Center.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with John D. Bell officiating. Arrangements by Harkey Funeral Home.

She had been a resident of Monahans since the mid 1950s.

Walt Summers

POSSUM KINGDOM LAKE - Walt L. Summers, 78, a retired maintenance supervisor for Phillips Petroleum Company, of Possum Kingdom Lake, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1997, at his home.

Funeral services were held Friday at Morrison Funeral Home Chapel in Graham with the Rev. Tim Heavin officiating. Burial followed in Pioneer cemetery. Arrangements by Morrison Funeral Home.

He was born in Sandia and was a Marine Corps veteran.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Willie Mary Summers of Possum Kingdom Lake; daughter, Marilee Cannon of Weatherford; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Gabino Sanchez

ODESSA - Gabino Sanchez, 28, of Odessa, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 1997, in Huntsville.

Funeral services are pending with Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel.

Elbert Cobern

EARLY - Elbert Cobern, 87, a carpenter/contractor, died Monday, Dec. 15, 1997, in Abilene.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Heartland Funeral Home Chapel in Early with Roger Hammons officiating. Burial will be at Cox cemetery. Arrangements by Heartland Funeral Home.

He was born in Indian Creek and was a resident of Brownwood. He was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Vera Cobern of Brownwood; son, Corky Cobern; daughters, Shirley Sansing of Coleman, Julia Smith of Abilene and Anne Jones of Odessa; stepsons, Arvil Kinsey of Sterling City and Ricky Kinsey of Brownwood; sister, Ruby Gage of San Saba; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

James Evans Sr.

TITUSVILLE, Fla. - James Reed Evans Sr., 74, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 1997, at his residence in Ringgold, Ga.

Services will be Thursday at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum in Titusville. Arrangements by North Brevard Funeral Home.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

SURVIVORS: Sons, James R. Evans Jr. of Sumter, S.C., Charles R. Evans of Odessa and Harold C. Evans of Titusville; daughter, Billie Milstead of Ringgold, Ga.; sisters, Anna Joyce Hayes and Virginia Baker, both of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., Charlotte May of Rossville, Ga., and Clara Lynn Snyder of Seattle; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Gabino Sanchez

ODESSA - Gabino Sanchez, 28, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 1997, in Huntsville.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Francis Frey officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel.

He was a lifetime resident of Odessa.

SURVIVORS: Father, Inez Sanchez of Odessa; brother, Inez Sanchez of Odessa; and sisters, Gracie Natividad and Sylvia Ybarra, both of Odessa.

Brent Shoemaker

ANDREWS - Brent Reagan Shoemaker, 32, a medical supply salesman, died Monday, Dec. 15, 1997, at Columbia Hospital in Dallas.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Andrews with the Revs. H.A. Hanks and Mike Henson officiating. Burial will be at Andrews West cemetery. Arrangements by McNett Funeral Home.

He was born in Midland and was a resident of Andrews before moving to Saginaw. He was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Daughters, Kaitlyn Shoemaker and Emily Shoemaker, both of Midland; parents, Larry and Delores Shoemaker of Andrews; sister, Staci Kolb of Andrews; and grandparents, Bill and Erlene Payne and Helen Shoemaker, all of Andrews.

Cruz Villa

PECOS - Cruz 'Red' Villa, 61, a laborer, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 1997, at his residence.

Rosary was said Tuesday at Pecos Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated at 3 p.m. today at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with the Rev. Antonio Mena officiating. Burial will be at Mount Evergreen cemetery. Arrangements by Pecos Funeral Home.

He was born in Ruidoso, N.M., and was a lifelong resident of Pecos. He was Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Mother, Senona Nanez; brother, Augustin Villa; and sister, Antonia Herrera, all of Pecos.
