ODESSA - Kayla Nicole Carter, infant daughter of Billy and Samantha Carter of Odessa, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 1997, at Medical Center Hospital.

Graveside services were held Wednesday at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

She was born in Odessa.

SURVIVORS: Parents; brother, Ryan Kaleb Carter of Odessa; grandfather, Stanley Slate of Philadelphia; grandmothers, Alva Lee Carter of Abilene, Pamela Ann Martin of Odessa and Rosa Rivera of Midland.

Ruby Hollis

SEMINOLE - Ruby 'Tommie' Hollis, 70, of Seminole, a homemaker, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 1997, at Memorial Health Care Center in Seminole.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today at Gaines County cemetery with the Rev. Amon Langston officiating. Arrangements by Boyer Funeral Home.

She was born in Lamesa and had been a resident of Seminole since 1979 after moving from Penwell.

SURVIVORS: Stepsons, James Hollis and Joe Hollis, both of Hobbs, N.M., Earl Sawyer of Texas; stepdaughters, Kristy Hollis of Oklahoma City, and Sudie Bell Sawyer and Corine Hollis, both of Texas.

Elifonsa Ramos

ODESSA - Elifonsa T. Ramos, 72, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 1997, at her residence.

Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today in the chapel of Martinez Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.

She was born in Ojinaga, Mexico, and had been a resident of Odessa for 15 years. She was Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Husband, Eluterio Ramos of Odessa; sons, Bone Jacquez of Midland and Ernesto Ramos of Odessa; daughters, Elida Carrasco and Elma Ramos, both of Odessa, and Anna Ramos of Crane; mother, Teodora Almanze Jacquez of Fort Worth; brother, Luis Jacquez of Fort Worth; sisters, Vicky Ybarra of Odessa, Gregoria Garcia of Pecos, Carmen Holguin of Phoenix, Ricarda Jacquez of Fort Worth and Ma. de Jesus Flores of Washington, D.C.; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Lillian Wesner

SAN ANGELO - Lillian June Wesner, 81, a homemaker, died Monday, Dec. 15, 1997, at her residence in Brownfield.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Paul Terry officiating. Arrangements by Robert Massie Funeral Home.

She was born in Du Quoin, Ill.

SURVIVORS: Son, Dr. Carl R. Smith of Brownfield; daughter, Patricia Ann Shurbet of Santa Fe, Texas; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Clara Wells

BAXTER SPRINGS, Kan. - Clara Mae Wells, 86, a retired teacher and school bus driver, of Riverton, Kan., died Monday, Dec. 15, 1997, at Freeman Hospital West after a short illness.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First Christian Church with Edward Snider officiating. Burial will be at Osborne Memorial cemetery in Joplin, Mo. Arrangements by Parker Mortuary in Joplin.

She was born in Joplin and moved to Riverton in 1971 from Odessa. She was a member of First Christian Church.

SURVIVORS: Daughter, Phyllis Joy Wells Dyer of Houston; sisters, Juanita Dinwiddie of Seneca, Mo., and Barbara Ann Block of Mabelvale, Ark.; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

C.L. Montgomery

ODESSA - C.L. Montgomery, 68, of Odessa died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 1997, at Medical Center Hospital.

Funeral services are pending with Martinez Funeral Home.

Mary Westerman

ODESSA - Mary Westerman, 92, of Odessa died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 1997, at Seabury Nursing Center.

Funeral services are pending with Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Jerry Bridges

ODESSA - Jerry Fletcher Bridges, 57, a budget analyst for the Reeves County Detention Center, died Thursday, Oct. 9, 1997, at Medical Center Hospital.

No services will be held. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

He was born in Dodd City and was a resident of Arlington before moving to Odessa in 1997.

SURVIVORS: Daughter, Brandi Bridgeman of Austin; mother, Allene Nance of Odessa; sister, Susan Brown of Fatteville, N.C.; and one grandchild.

Fannie Jackson

ODESSA - Fannie Rebecca Jackson, 88, a nurse, died Friday, Oct. 10, 1997, at her home.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Bible Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Bailey officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Greenwood Memorial Park in Fort Worth. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

She was born in Greenville and moved to Odessa in 1986.

SURVIVORS: Son, Fred Bailey of Odessa; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

John-Eric Medina

ANDREWS - John-Eric Medina, 19, a student at Midland College, died Thursday, Oct. 9, 1997, at Medical Center Hospital due to injuries sustained in a car accident.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Calvary Baptist Church in Andrews with the Revs. John Sayger and Mike Henson officiating. Burial will be at the Andrews Old cemetery. Arrangements by McNett Funeral Home.

He was a lifetime resident of Andrews and Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Father, Robert Medina of Andrews; mother, Betty Madrid of Andrews; brothers, Michael Medina of Wahiawa, Hawaii, Adrian Medina, Joe-Jon Madrid and Phillip Madrid, all of Andrews, and Robert Medina Jr. and Chris Medina, both of Odessa; sister, Andrea Madrid of Andrews; grandparents, Juan Medina and Maria Medina, both of Lamesa, and David Hernandez and Isabel Hernandez, both of Andrews; and great-grandfather, A.C. Diaz of Odessa.

Robert Smith

ODESSA - Robert Armstead 'Army' Smith, 67, owner of Diversified Warehousing, died Thursday, Oct. 9, 1997, at Medical Center Hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

He was born in Waco and was resident of Lubbock before moving to Odessa in 1962. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict and Methodist.

SURVIVORS: Son, Steve Ellis of Seoul, Korea.

Charlene Thresher

MONAHANS - Charlene Thresher, 65, a retired elementary school teacher, died Saturday, Oct. 11, 1997, in Monahans.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Monahans with the Rev. Barry Klempnauer officiating. She was born Feb. 7, 1932 in Iraan, Texas, and was a 40-year member of the First Baptist Church in Monahans. Arrangements by Harkey Funeral Home in Monahans.

SURVIVORS: Husband, Donald Thresher of Monahans, daughter, Michelle Hill, of Dallas, and one brother, Fred W. Dry of Dallas. She also had one grandchild.

Virginia May Roden GRAND JUNCTION, CO - Virginia May Roden, 72, of Grand Junction died Wednesday, OCt. 8, 1997, at her residence. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Martin Mortuary, in Grand Junction. She is scheduled for cremation.

Roden was born June 23, 1925, and married Ted Roden on May 25, 1947 in Decatur. The couple lived in Odessa 28 years.

SURVIVORS: Daughters, Theora Olson of Westminster, CO, Rhonda McClary of Grand Junction, and Cassie Vidal of Odessa; one brother, Richard Hodges of Odessa; and five grandchildren.
