Delbert Sims in Olney, Texas, on July 3, 1936.
Lucille moved to Odessa in 1957 from Stinnett, TX. She has been a longtime member of Immanuel Baptist Church and loves the leadership, Pastor Troy and Pastor Mark. She really got into the upbeat music, singing and clapping along. One of Lucille’s passions in life was traveling with her daughter, Sharon, which they did every time they got the chance. Las Vegas was one of Lucille’s favorite places to go because she enjoyed the lights, the people, playing the slot machines just for fun and the excitement in the air. The boats in Shreveport were another fascinating place for her to travel to, where she played the slot machines as well. She didn’t win much, but she didn’t spend much either.
She just loved being on the go and staying busy, going to the movies, which she did every weekend, going to craft fairs and dining out. Her family will miss her excellent cooking, especially the fried pies she would always make for them. She was a wonderful mom, a wonderful MeMe and a wonderful MeeMaw. Her main focus in life was her family, and her grandchildren were precious treasures to her, lighting up her life. Lucille E. Sims was a bright spot in her family’s lives and will be dearly missed by all who knew her, including McKenzie and Missy.
