Jean Stewart
ODESSA — Jean Stewart was born March 11, 1917, in Darst Creek, Texas, to Clyde and Grace Stewart. Jean married
C. F. Ward December 18, 1938, in Luling, Texas. Jean and C. F. came to Odessa in 1996 from Lago Vista, Texas. During their early retirement years in Lago Vista, Jean was active in many community activities. After moving to Odessa, she participated in bridge clubs as well as other social events. Jean’s happiest moments were spent enjoying her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jean’s husband, C.F., preceded her in death on March 14, 1998.
Visitation will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Jean is survived by a son, Tom Ward and his wife, Kathy, of Houston; daughter, Nancy Landry and husband, J. W., of Odessa; grandsons, Jeff Landry and fiancé, Melinda Stewart, of Snyder, and Dr. Joel Landry and wife, Dr. Cheryl Landry, of Lubbock; and great-grandchildren, Zachrey and Ali Landry, both of Odessa, Lauren and Alexis Landry, both of Lubbock, and Jeffrey Stewart of Snyder.

Bonnie Campbell
MONAHANS — Bonnie B. Campbell, 81, of Monahans, a homemaker, died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003, at Avalon Place in Odessa.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Heritage Funeral Chapel with Craig Rhoton officiating. Burial will be at Kermit cemetery in Kermit. Arrangements by Heritage Funeral Home.
She was born in Brownwood.

PECOS — Frank B. Deishler, 72, of Pecos, a retired field pumper, died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003, at his residence.

He was born in Winnsboro. He was an Army veteran. He was Protestant.

JAL, N.M. — Donald Green, 45, of Jal, N.M., owner and operator of Donnie’s Chevron, died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003, in Kermit.

MONAHANS — Evelyn Nash Moore, 85, of Monahans, a retired owner of Moore Tire and Supplies, died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003, at Hospice House in Odessa.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today at Monahans Memorial cemetery with the Rev. Johnny Blalock officiating.
She was born in Barry.

ODESSA — E.C. Pruitt, 84, of Odessa, a retired employee of El Paso Products, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003, at Hospice House.
Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Francis Frey officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

MONAHANS — Della Rush, 89, of Monahans died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003, at Sherwood Place in Odessa.

William ‘Bill’ Butler
ODESSA — William “Bill” Edward Butler, surrounded by loving family and friends, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. He was born May 30, 1922, in Okmulgee, Okla., to pioneering parents, Martha Agnes and William Ray Butler. The western Oklahoma oil boom soon took Bill and his family to Braman, Okla., during the depression, and he attended school there and made many life long friends.
From 1941 to 1945, Bill served as a sergeant in the Army Air Corp in the China-Burma-India Theatre. In November of 1945, at war’s end, he married
Jeannette Rasbach of Flint, Mich. In 1951, Bill moved his wife and two daughters, Martha and JoAnn to Odessa where he worked as a plant operator for Shell Oil Company. A third daughter, Mary Ellen, was born later.
Bill and Jeannette reared their three girls in Odessa and Bill continued to work at Notrees until a transfer took them to Kalkaska, Mich. He and his wife retired to Okmulgee, Okla. The last five years of his life were spent in Odessa near his family. Bill was a patient and talented man who enjoyed his family and friends.
Mr. Butler is survived by his wife, Jeanette; siblings, Eugene Butler of Illinois, Glenn Butler of Florida and Nellie Smith of Florida; daughters and sons-in-law, Martha and Dough Moore of Odessa, JoAnn and John Petzold of Houston and Mary Ellen and Kenneth Calley of Odessa; grandchildren, Shaun Moore and his wife, Angel, of Midland, Kimberly Moore of Seattle, Wash., Clinton Calley of Odessa, Mark Calley of Los Angeles, Calif., Jason Petzold of Houston and Denise and Kate Moore of Odessa; and great-granddaughters, Brittney Rice and Brice Moore of Midland.
Mr. Butler was a skilled craftsman who got great satisfaction from home ownership and upkeep. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to Habitat for Humanity, Box 2063, Odessa, Texas 79760.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, at First Presbyterian Church, 14th St. and Sam Houston, Odessa, with the Rev. Steve Deines officiating.

Otis Francis Hunter
ODESSA — Otis Francis Hunter, 83, of Odessa died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, at Manor Park in Midland. Otis was born Aug. 28, 1919, in Independence, Kan. He graduated from the University of Tulsa, Tulsa, Okla., in Petroleum Engineering where he was listed in Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities and was a member of Kappa Alpha fraternity. He married
Charlotte Neely on March 26, 1942. He was a professional engineer and member of AIMME. He served as Lieutenant (J.G.) in the United States Navy during World War II, commanding the minesweeper Prestige in the Pacific Theater.
He and his family moved to Odessa in August of 1951. Professionally, Otis provided construction services for the natural gas production and processing industry. He worked with Bowden Construction Company, retiring as owner in 1997.
Those who knew Otis recognized that he lived a wonderfully adventurous life. He was a proficient general aviation pilot, and an accomplished ocean yachtsman and celestial navigator. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Hunter; daughters, Frances Wilson and husband, Bob, of Summit Park, Utah, and Margaret Nyborg and husband, Phil, of Concord, Mass.; sons, James S. Hunter and wife, Susie, and Jeffery T. Hunter and wife, Sherry, of Odessa; eleven grandchildren, Jeffery B. Hunter, O.J. Hunter, Andee Hunter, Neely Hunter and Kelley Hunter, of Odessa, Rob Wilson, W.O. Wilson and Scott Wilson of Summit Park, Utah, Scott Nyborg, Adam Nyborg and C.B. Nyborg of Concord, Mass.; and two great-grandchildren, Alena Wilson and Jade Wilson of Summit Park, Utah.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Feb. 7, 2003, at the First Christian Church of Odessa with David C. Mindel officiating. Memorials may be directed to Home Hospice.

John Borth
AUSTIN — John Borth departed this life Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003. He was born in Follett, Texas, on July 30, 1921, to R.M. Borth and Marie Behrens.
He attended school in Austin and served in the U.S. Army Aviation Engineers 1906 Battalion in the Pacific Theater during World War II. John was the purchasing agent for Economy Furniture for 48 years. He married
Mae Belle Mills in 1948.
He is survived by his wife, Belle; two daughters, Shelli Childers and husband, Robert, of Odessa and Sherri Hagood and husband, Walter, of Austin; four grandchildren, Christie and Cara Childers of Odessa and Andrew and Erin Hagood of Austin; and one great-granddaughter Madison Childers of Odessa.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, February 8 at Messiah Lutheran Church followed by services at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Capital Memorial Park under the direction of Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 N. Lamar, Austin, TX 78705 – (512) 452-8811.

ODESSA — Harriet Austin, 87, of Odessa, a retired interior decorator, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003, at Hospice House.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bethany Christian Church with the Rev. Rob Scofield officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
She was born in San Antonio. She was a member of Bethany Christian Church.

ODESSA — Caroline J. Bishop, 75, of Odessa, a former office manager for Capital Orthopedics in Indianapolis, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital.
