ODESSA — Barbara Glover, age 31, passed from this life on March 16, 2003. Barbara was born January 1, 1972, in Grove City, Pa., to Gary L. Baughman and Frances A. Como Baughman. A resident of Odessa for four years, Barbara was attending Midland College for her nursing degree, and enjoyed gardening and cooking. She was a homemaker, an attentive mother to her children and loved reading her Bible. Barbara married
Brian Glover on May 13, 2000, and was a member of Church in the Wind in Midland.
She is survived by her husband, Brian Glover; sisters, Stacy Locklear and husband, Don, of Miss., and Cathy Hughes and husband, Randy, of Odessa; brother, Gary Baughman Jr. and wife, Michelle, of Odessa; father, Gary Baughman; mother, Frances Baughman; and three loving children, Myra Nelson, Tanya Glover and Dustin Glover.
Services will be Wednesday, March 19, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Chapel with Rev. Terry Ohlmann officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Heart and Soul Motorcycle Association. Arrangements are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
Pauline Marie Stanley
ODESSA — Pauline Marie Stanley, 86 years old, was born March 2, 1917, in Gilmore, Okla., and she passed away March 16, 2003, at Crane Nursing and Rehab Center. She was known to most of her friends as “Polly.”
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, in the Frank W. Wilson Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Johnny Young and the Rev. Don Fankhauser officiating. Burial will follow in Ector County cemetery. The family will receive visitors at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 18.
Mrs. Stanley was a member of the First Baptist Church of Odessa. She was also a member of the local AARP, the Democratic Women’s Club, the Southwestern Bell Pioneers Club. She retired in 1979 from Southwestern Bell with 35 years of service. She has gone to Heaven to be with those who preceded her in death her husband, James Harry Stanley, who died in 1947; her parents, Carl and Susie Whigham; her sister, Kathleen Sue Sparks; and one granddaughter, Janie Lou Ridley.
She has gone and with the help of the Lord will prepare a place for her survivors: one daughter, Lillian Sue Smith; two grandsons, James L. Herrington and wife, Robbin, of Odessa and Carl Reed Smith and wife, Mary, of Abilene; one granddaughter, Leslie Anne Bunch and her husband, Steve, of Midland; two brothers and their spouses, Carl Whigham and wife, Betty, of Midland and Thomas Whigham and wife, Virginia, of Farmington N.M. She was known to seven great-grandchildren as “Granny Polly.” She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Chris Whigham, David Whigham, Carl Jasper, Larry Sparks, Heath Herrington and Holt Herrington.

Evelyn ‘Eve’ Stephenson
MIDLAND — Evelyn “Eve” Stephenson, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2003, after a short illness. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2003, at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Trinity in Midland with Father Mark Cannady officiating. Interment will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Rankin cemetery in Rankin, Texas. A visitation will be held and the family will receive friends Tuesday, March 18, 2003, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.
Eve was born March 4, 1933, in Kennington, South London, England, to Leonard and Jessica Powell and spent her childhood in the London district of Wimbledon. In a visit to Germany in the early sixties she met Carl Stephenson of Rankin, Texas, and married
him in Reno, Nevada, on November 10, 1961. In 1961 she moved with her husband to Odessa and came to Midland in 1972. She became the office manager and co-founder of Stephenson Realty, Inc. of Midland and Odessa, Texas, as well as being a loving wife and mother. She was a member of Episcopal Church of the Holy Trinity.
Survivors include her husband, Carl Stephenson of Midland; one daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Stephen Frank of New Orleans, Louisiana; and one brother, Roger Powell of Portsmouth, England.

John Joseph Vacca Jr.
LEWISVILLE — John Joseph Vacca Jr., 80, a retired broadcast executive, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2003, in Lewisville. Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday, March 20th, at St. Michael Catholic Church, 3713 Harwood Road, Bedford. John Vacca was born in Chicago, Illinois April 7, 1922. He was a student at Northwestern University before entering the Army Air Corps in 1942 where he served in Guam as a radio operator. Vacca Began his broadcasting career at NBC Radio in Chicago as a production assistant. He moved his family to Odessa, Texas in 1947 where he rose to station manager of KOSA-Radio. Later, he was the first station manager of KOSA-TV where many remember his on air appearances as the weatherman. In 1967, he became V.P. of Trigg Vaughn Stations, Inc., a television and radio station group owner. As V.P. and Secretary of Doubleday Broadcasting Co., he directed the construction of KDTV Ch 39, the first UHF television station in the Dallas/Fort Worth marketplace. From 1970 to 1973 as Vice President and General Manager of Ch 39, he developed unique marketing and programming techniques to introduce UHF television to the area. He also served as chief negotiator during the sale of the Doubleday Broadcasting properties.
Johnny was revered as a teacher and leader during the developing years of the television industry. Vacca was very proud to work with and to mentor broadcasters from all over the United States. He was fond of saying, “These talented people make my job easy.” Vacca was also noted for his many civic activities in Odessa where he was a City Councilman, and served the American Cancer Society, Community Chest, Civic Music Association, Permian Playhouse, Odessa Advertising Club, Texas Broadcasters Assn., and the Knights of Columbus. He will be remembered by his family as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Bell; son, John and his wife, Jolynn; daughter, Dawn Pennel and her husband, Vic, and daughter, Kim; grandsons, John IV and his wife, Christi; Scott and his wife, Ashley; Brother Vincent; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Beverly Elaine Killian
KERMIT — Our sweet Beverly went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 16, 2003. Beverly was born on August 22, 1956, to Joseph Holt Killian and Beverly Joan Matthews Killian in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Beverly graduated from Grandfalls High School in May of 1975. She excelled in journalism, typing, shorthand and band. She continued her education at Odessa College where she also worked at the administration office. She created her own designs for her clothes and crafts which she had on display at a former craft store in Monahans.
She is survived by her mother, Joan Terry of Kermit; father, Joseph Holt Killian of Monahans; brother, Jeff Killian of Kermit; sisters, Cynthia Jacobs of Kermit, Lori Killian and Robin Juarez of Carrolton, Texas. She was preceded in death by her sister, Gayle Killian Thompson. She also survived by her grandmother, Effie Baldwin Matthews of Texarkana, Arkansas. She is survived as well by her two nieces, Alicia Schena of Rochester, New Hampshire, and Holly Thompson of Monahans; three nephews, Jason Jacobs, Mathew Thompson and Eric Thompson of Monahans; one great niece, Dezzy Ray Salgado; and two great nephews, Christopher Schena and Hunter Jacobs.
Services will be held at the Community Church in Kermit of which Beverly was member, on Thursday, March 20, 2003, at 2 p.m. with Reverend Henry O. Freund officiating. Interment will be at the Monahans Memorial cemetery in Monahans, Texas. Services entrusted to Cooper Funeral Chapel.
Pallbearers will be George Jacobs, Jason Jacobs, Jeff Killian, Eric Thompson, Freddie Moore and Mark Graham.

SEMINOLE — Nona “Joey” “Honey” Ballew, 72, of Andrews, a retired employee of the American National Insurance Company, died Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at Permian General Hospital in Andrews.

She was born in Borden County. She was Baptist.
