Alicia Gutierrez Rodriguez
ODESSA — Alicia Gutierrez Rodriguez, 71, of Odessa passed away Monday, March 10, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born October 4, 1931, in Fort Stockton to Felix and Margaret Rodriguez. Alicia was Catholic. She was married
to Ruben Rodriguez Feb. 24, 195, in Fort Stockton. They resided in Columbus, Ga., for many years and retired in Odessa. Alicia was preceded in death by her parents.
Granny Alice was a homemaker. She was everyone’s “Granny,” whomever met her, she adopted. She loved her children and grandchildren. She took great pride in being a mother and grandmother. She was a great confidant. Everyone could talk to Granny about anything. She loved to dance and had a great sense of humor. She was young at heart. She loved knowing everything that was going on with the young people, she could relate to people of all ages. She was a kind, sympathetic woman that was very dependable. We will miss her greatly, but we have comfort that she is running and dancing through flower covered fields. She is with her parents that she dearly loved. Granny also loved God; John 11:25-26 says “He that exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life and everyone that is living and exercises faith in me will never die at all.” So we are excited that we will see her again.
She is survived by her husband, Ruben Rodriguez of Odessa; sons, Richard R. Rodriguez of San Antonio, Robert David Rodriguez and wife, Veronica, of Odessa, and Pilar Sarabia of Colorado; daughters, Margaret Mabry and husband, Al, of St. Simons Island, Ga., Mary Sarabia of Athens, Ga., Monika Duran and husband, Frank, of Odessa and Michelle J. Rodriguez of Odessa; brothers, David Rodriguez and wife, Nancy, of San Antonio, Abelardo Rodriguez and wife, Terry, of El Paso, Armando Rodriguez and wife, Delma, of Fort Stockton; 11 grandchildren, Kim Sarabia, Alan Mabry, Charlie Mabry, Amber Duran, Zachary Duran, Robert Anthony Rodriguez, Stephanie Rodriguez, Justin and Jared Sarabia, Madeline Rodriguez and Richard Rodriguez; her dog, a sheltie named Sam; and a bischon named Princess, whom she loved dearly.

There was mutual love between Jack and a little Chihuahua named Consuelo, affectionately referred to as “Baby”.
The devotion of four “Angelic” caregivers is incredible. They are: Onita Ervin, Amy Rodriquez, Vertis Green, and Josie Frausto. These ladies have become extended family to Jack and Cookie and words cannot express the gratitude and love felt for them.
Jack enjoyed flying, as a pilot and as a passenger. He enjoyed golf, hunting and keeping physically fit.
Jack had a positive attitude, never said a bad word about anyone, and was a very kind hearted, gentle man. He belonged to the 21st and Eisenhower Church of Christ. He loved his Heavenly Father and has gone to be with Him. He was admired, respected and loved by many, especially John Warren, a dear and loyal, longtime friend. Jack will be greatly missed by all.
