Carl Edward Fields
ODESSA — Carl Edward Fields, 64, formerly of Odessa, Texas, a retired businessman of New York died Thursday, May 22, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2003, at Martinez Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Terry officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home. Viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today.
He was born June 28, 1938, in Waco, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ervin Fields Sr., and mother, Floye Fields Waterman; brothers, Bobby Joe Fields and Victor Orlando Waterman; sons, Wayne Fields and Deron Washington.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores Fields. They were married
until departed in death. He is also survived by sons, Clarence Fields and Kevin Fields, both of Odessa, and Jermaine Graham and Teddy Graham, both of Brooklyn, N.Y.; daughters, Carlynn Fields Thomas of Odessa, Sheila Graham of Charlotte, N.C., and Carolyn Bennett of Birmingham, Ala.; sisters, Ruby Faye Bryant of Houston and Ethel Brown of Corning, N.Y.; brother, Ervin Fields of Palmdale, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Bob King
ODESSA — Bob King, 76, a 51-year resident of Odessa, passed away at Medical Center Hospital on Monday, May 26, 2003, after a prolonged illness.
He is survived by his wife, Grace Thorman King, of Odessa.
He was born in Fulbright, Texas, in Red River County on Feb. 2, 1927, to Norris Lee and Fern Edith Burrus King.
He grew up in Sweetwater where he graduated from Newman High School. He attended one year of college at the University of Austin before joining the military during World War II. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army, 11th Airborne, from April 1945 until December 1946 and was stationed in the Pacific and Japan. After an honorable discharge, he attended Hardin Simmons College in Abilene and graduated with a business degree in 1952.
While a student, he met Grace Thorman of Sweetwater when she was a co-ed at Abilene Christian College. On Nov. 6, 1953, they married
at her aunt Mary Robertson Hudgins’ home in Sweetwater and immediately moved to Odessa where Bob was employed by Stanolind Oil and Gas Company.
During his business career, Bob worked for Bankers Life Insurance Company and Curtis 1000, a national printing company, which assigned him a broad-based West Texas traveling territory. His longest association was with the Chancellor family’s West Texas Office Supply and Santa Fe Contract Design.
Poor health necessitated retirement in 1982 at age 55. Before retiring, he was active in the Downtown Lions Club.
Bob loved to hunt and fish and was an avid outdoorsman. He was a lifetime member of the NRA. From the earliest days of Permian High School’s athletic program, he was a dedicated fan and Mojo Booster. As long as health permitted, he never missed a Permian game.
Bob had a kind and sensitive personality and a soft heart for cats. There were always two feline family pets under his and Grace’s care.
Other surviving members of his family are his sister, Pat Hawley, of Sweetwater; and sister-in-law, Vera Steele, of Fort Worth; three nephews and their wives, Brad and Angela Hawley of Austin, Bob and Vivian Steele of Fort Worth, and Gary and Glenna Steele of Arlington; two great-nephews, Yates Hawley and Carson Hawley of Austin; and three great-nieces, Emily Steele of Fort Worth, Kacy Steele and Taylor Steele, both of Arlington.
He was preceded in death by parents and brothers-in-law, Bernie Hawley and Billy Bob Steele.
There will be a family and friends visitation from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2003, at the Hubbard-Kelly Chapel followed by graveside rites at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers are Brad Hawley, Gary Steele, Bob Steele, and Manuel Gonzalez. Honorary pallbearers are J. Camden Chancellor, Eddie Brown, Marion Adams, Bill Barnhill, Arnold Reid, George Kiefer, and L. A. Nixon.

Angela G. Nunez
ODESSA — Angela G. Nunez, 73, died Saturday, May 24, 2003, at Midland Memorial Hospital in Midland, Texas.
Mrs. Nunez married
Victor Nunez Sr. Jan. 8, 1949, in Odessa, Texas. Mrs. Nunez was a Catholic and a member of Carmelitas, Legion of Mary and the Catholic Women Organization from Odessa.
Mrs. Nunez was born July 6, 1929, in Fort Stockton to father, Julio Nunez, and mother, Honorata Garza, who both preceded her in death.
A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Martinez Funeral Home with the Carmelitas Organization. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Gilbert Rodriguez officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery.
Survivors include her daughter, Janie N. Rodriguez and husband Jorge, of Odessa; son, Victor (Lipas) Nunez and wife Mary, of Odessa; four brothers, Ismael (Noro) Nunez, Julio Nunez, Refugio Nunez, all of Odessa, and Frank Nunez of Fort Stockton; two grandsons, Martin Nunez and wife Diane and Michael Nunez and wife Glyna, both of Odessa; one great-granddaughter, Amanda Victoria Nunez; two great-grandsons, Brian Nunez and Kieryn Nunez, both of Odessa; two honorary granddaughters, Stefanie Samarripa and Lisa Samarripa, both of Odessa; numerous nieces and nephews, godsons and goddaughters.

John Gatha Williamson
ODESSA — John Gatha Williamson, 68, of Odessa, passed away May 24, 2003, at his residence.
He was born on April 12, 1935, in Spur, Texas, to Richard and Thelma Williamson. John was Baptist and a U.S. Army veteran.
Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2003, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Tom Reed officiating. Military graveside services will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens cemetery.
His mother and father preceded John in death.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel Williamson, of Odessa; son, John Williamson and wife Ruth Ann of Denver City and Mark Williamson and wife Amy of Odessa; daughter, Leona Colling and husband Tony of Eugene, Ore.; brothers, Clifton Williamson of Ozona and Dale Williamson of Huntington; sister, Peggy Wiginton of Odessa; grandchildren, Jennifer and Joey Williamson of Denver City, Justin and Jami Williamson of Odessa, and Shon and Tyler Colling of Eugene, Ore.
Pallbearers will be Allen Williamson, Duane Williamson, Ricky Wiginton, Robert Davis, Jerry Dale Davis and Buddy Davis.

Janice Lauver
PONCA CITY, Okla. — Janice Lauver, 63, of Ponca City, Okla., died Monday, Jan. 6, 2003, at Via Christi Oklahoma Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Kilgore.

Frankie Masey
ODESSA — Frankie M. Masey, 86, of Midland died Sunday, Jan. 5, 2003, in Midland.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Sunset Memorial Chapel with Steve Bailey officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
She was born in Tarrant County and moved to Midland from Cross Plains in 1999. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Andrew Vassilion
ODESSA — Andrew Vassilion, 76, of Odessa, a retired letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service and professional jazz trumpeter, died Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003, at his residence.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Rose Hill cemetery.

He was born in New Castle, Pa., and moved to Odessa in 1963 from Billings, Mont. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

Justin Seth Anderson
ODESSA — Justin Seth Anderson, 19 years old, passed away Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003, near Comanche. He was born April 28, 1983, to Robert and Dale Anderson in Odessa. He graduated from Permian High School in May 2001.
Recently, he moved from Odessa to Comanche to live in the country, as he’d always wanted. While living there, he enjoyed many aspects of nature, such as hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed the outdoors by snow skiing and playing paintball games with his friends.
He will be greatly missed by a host of family and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Mr. F.R. Anderson, Jr.
Survivors include his parents, Robert and Dale Anderson of Odessa; his loving brother, Logan Anderson and sister-in-law, Kim Sturn, of Odessa; paternal grandmother, Mrs. F.R. Anderson of Winters; maternal grandparents, Joy and James Lowe of Longview and Jerry and Sandra Amos of Odessa; great grandmother, Mrs. Lillie Lindsey of Longview; uncles and aunts, F. Ross Anderson III and his wife, Yolanda, of Bisbee, Ariz., Byron and Dena Anderson of Lubbock, Deanna and Eddy Layman of Odessa, Debbie and Bob Reed of Divide, Colo., Jeff Amos, Greg and Janice Amos, Roger Perrin, Jim and Sandy Latham, all of Odessa. He is also survived by many cousins and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 17, 2003, in the chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors with Rev. Jimmy Cameron officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be donated in memory of Justin to St. Luke’s United Methodist Church Youth Group at 1601 E. 42nd in Odessa.
